  1. Corrado VR6 Ambitiously priced at ?2,000 but I am open to offers. Plus points of this car are: - Low mileage VR6 engine - will update as soon as I get a reading (I'm at work writing this ad). - Full bodykit which makes the car looks so gorgeously mean! - InPro (I think) Angel eye headlights and crystal front fog & indicator cluster (really cleans up and modernises the look of the Corrado in my opinion). - M3 style smoked & red rear lights. - Adjustable suspension (will get the make and update) which produces a very comfortable ride - even on the 17" rims. - Remote start alarm / immobiliser (nifty way of warming your car up in the morning without leaving the house or unlocking the doors!). - Original black leather interior in v. good condition. I bought this car because I missed my Storm too much and wanted the VR6 induction noise back in my life, plus all the time I had the Storm I was envious of certain mods which I though made the Corrado look much more up-to-date without altering it's beauty but could never bring myself to apply on a Storm. This one came up with all the mods that I wanted and that swayed my heart over my brain. But it had its faults, which I soon discovered. After driving through central London after buying it I finally got out of the city about an hour later and could put my foot down for the first time and was delighted to find out the clutch was slipping. I didn't have the cash to get a new clutch that month so parked it and continued to use by dreaded A3 instead and a couple of weeks later went to wash the Corrado only to find that the beautiful paintwork accompanied by a receipt for a ?2,500 respray) was falling off wherever a bird had done its business or even wherever I rubbed too hard. Clearly I had been had. Not to be deterred, I figured I would still get the clutch replaced and turned to vinyl wrapping to create something beautiful, but two years later I have yet to do this and now my plans have changed, I will be moving house and will not have a space to park the Corrado anymore, so my dreams of putting her back on the road are gone. This car has not been driven for 2 years and as such all the brake discs are coated in rust which would probably wear off quite quickly but I'm not going to pretend that is going to be the case. I bought a sample of gloss black vinyl from MDP Supplies to see how easy or hard wrapping would be and have applied it to the bonnet. Turns out it is actually pretty easy as long as you have someone helping you since manipulating sheets of vinyl with the backing peeled off is too hard for one person on their own - which is what I did. end result was that I had to spend more time afterwards getting rid of air bubbles. However, if you're thinking of buying this car and trying your hand at wrapping, you'd want to remove my handiwork anyway so you have matching vinyl all over. But my point is, after watching youtube you'll have everything you need to do it yourself and I'm quite upset I won't have the chance to do the whole car - was hoping to go the black/purple route (calculated black gloss would cost around ?100 in materials, black/purple flip about ?180). The other bad point to note is that one of the tyres went flat and then perished and is now triangular. Whilst I believe the car would be driveable once the spare is one, even with a slipping clutch (it only slips when you floor it) and even with the rust on the discs, I would recommend transportation, but that's your call. If no one wants this as a complete car, I know I can get over ?1K for easy to remove parts + scrap and more if I have the time to remove other bits but I hate to think of a thing of beauty going that way :( Even with bits of the matt grey paint missing it still manages to look stunning to me. there's a headlight wiring loom to throw in with the car so you can get more volts to the lights. Stereo (needs installing) is a 7" fold out screen jobbie and has a rear view camera, but the wiring is cut.   2. jon-vr6 - I do have those parts, but to be honest I drove that car for just over 10 years and loved every second of it (in fact, even with an Elise now the Corrado still remains my favourite car I've ever had) and the sentimental part of me wanted to keep the Storm badges... VAG-hag - I've not really looked into it, but a quick quote on the internet reckons £150 scrap value. The problem I have is that the car is currently the only place I have to store the seats, which are worth much more. If you want to buy the seats, you can take the car with them, otherwise I will keep you as my first point of contact once they are sold? BarberG60 - Solitudes are tyreless and the ones on the Speedlines have been sat without moving too long and through too many winters and are perished.
  3. BarberG60 - the car currently stands on speedlines. The solitudes were removed a long time ago and sit in my shed. I took them off because they needed refurbishing but I never sent them away. If you want them, they're yours, but you will need to spend money on them once you have them. However - I do actually need to check I can find all 4 of them...

  6. I haven't got the tools, time or talent to strip parts from the car, so I was just planning on selling the seats then scrapping the rest. Whoever buys the seats can take what they can remove on the day just as long as I still have a shell they can pick up. I'm not sure what scrapping cars is like, but I would have thought the metal content is the part that is valuable to them? My other half wants it gone, if anyone is willing to pay scrap price for it and are able to have it removed, then I m more than happy to see it be put to good use, however I should point out it has been sat still for 5 years. The engine is completely seized, the lacquer on the bonnet and roof have began peeling and there's a fair share of rust in places now.

  9. Black leather Storm interior - all seats + door cards Anyone want my Storm's interior? Front seats are heated (loom & switch are still in the car) and there is a little wear on the driver's seat (see photos). Drivers seat is missing the plastic handle and the reclining disc is off (but included), I think its missing a ring that goes between the seat and the disc. Other than the wear on one seat, they're in good condition and are already removed from the car, but stored inside it. Collect only, and if you want the wiring loom for the heated seats, come equipped with tools. Anything else you want off the car on the day, just let me know when you're here, but the car itself is non-recoverable and will sadly be scrapped once the seats are out. Looking for ?500.   10. Yeah, those photo's of the 'finishing' do make it look bad, but I would have thought they're all fixable with a little bit of extra work? As far as I am aware, it's easy to keep looking like new with just a soapy wash, no need to polish to increase depth of shine on the glossy vinyls, but when I looked into it a while back I found a few forums where people were putting a layer of wax over it to go it that extra layer of protection and give it the 'paint effect' look. No idea if it made any difference - you know what people can be like when it comes to having already spent money on something and never admitting to a mistake!
  11. This may not be a popular solution, but have you considered a vinyl wrap instead of a new paint job? You could easily buy some cheap vinyl and "have a go" at a tricky panel and see if you have the nounce to do it yourself - the only tools you really need is a squeegee and a heat gun, the rest comes down to talent. Depending on the type of vinyl you opt for, costs to cover a whole car range from £300 onwards (without too much waste, a paintflip style wrap would cost about £600 in materials). Have a look at what's on offer here http://www.mdpsupplies.co.uk/vehiclewrapping.asp and do some youtube viewing to see how to apply it. Of course, you could pay someone else to apply it, but then the costs go into re-spray territory and for that price, you may as well re-spray! The point I am making here is that sticking vinyl down yourself is easier to get right than spraying yourself, so if you want to change the colour of your car on the cheap, it could be worth a punt. Of course, if you mess it up, you've just wasted a quarter of the costs that you could have put towards a proper paint job!! I actually asked the guys linked above for a sample of the black/purple iridescent one (which is black or purple or blue or green depending on the light) and even though it was a small piece and not something to go down on a large panel, it was surprisingly pliable when warmed up and easy to peel off and put back down again. I decided against doing a whole car, though, but then I wasn't really serious about changing mine...
  12. Soooo, first problem with the new Corrado's bodykit.... Looked at my parked Corrado this morning and noticed the rear passenger side tyre looked flat. Didn't give it much of a look to make sure since I was running late and was driving a different car anyway. But, there really isn't much room to get a jack underneath it! Before I go off and buy something that's way too expensive, anyone have any suggestions on 'cheap' and low jacks that can get under limited spaces? Also noticed the clutch is slipping :(
  13. You really don't have to worry about that. First of all, hardly anyone knows the speed those things go up in the first place, secondly, the speed they trigger changed on later models (if I recall, my H reg 16v used to operate at 40mph, my N reg VR6 at 65mph?), and most importantly if you do ever get pulled over and questioned about the fact your spoiler was up in a, say, 30mph zone you have the real argument that it doesn't go back down until after you drop below 20mph and since leaving a faster road where it legitimately went up, it has not had the chance to drop yet. Also, you could say it is broken and has a mind of its own. Also, none of that is admissible - they have to actually catch you speeding, not "think" you have been!!

  15. Painting the chin spoiler is a transformation in itself, I don't know why everyone doesn't do it! However, it seems odd (to me) to leave the grill black... Coming from a Storm where the grill is painted and now to another Corrado with the grill painted, I no longer like a plain grill in the middle, it just looks unfinished! Gotta say, though, being no fan of green, that car looks lovely in that green!
  16. Oh trust me, it's a lot of work... laquer has lifted from the bonnet and leading edge of the roof. Rust spots are appearing in more places each time I look. The engine itself has 194K on the clock still on original chains, but they were not the problem when I parked it - the cams or lifters were making a lot of noise. I did actually buy a ported head with higher lift (268, I think) cams in it, but never got round to swapping them. No idea what condition that head is in now. Interior - everything is there, but a lot of it was rattling when I stopped driving. Now I have a new one, I will probably find bit and pieces to transfer before I'm ready to let the Storm go... but if anyone is interested in a probably working car in poor condition, I'll offer it up before thinking about scrapping. Couple of months yet, though. But in all seriousness, if you're not able to do this stuff yourself and want a garage to do it, cheaper to buy a working one than repair this one.

  19. Is that midnight blue? Hard to tell in the pictures - either way, lovely colour! I had the 90mm spoiler on the front of my first 16V and found myself scraping and bending it parking against kerbs all the time, much preferred the 50mm spoiler on the front of my Storm I bought after, and much preferred the look of it, too. I wish I hadn't seen you polishing up the manifold as now I will have to do mine :D
  20. Abdul - you were right! Got that cone on the 12v VR and my long lost howl is back :) Well done selling your car, I'm sure the new owners will love it - awesome machine. And one you will miss veeeery soon...... :D
