I've used Andi's white dials as a base to start from and modified them to look how I would like the dials in my car (pictures to follow). Now I need some help... I want to back light these and I guess I am going to have to use EL paper to do the trick, but I've never used that before and info on the net hasn't been able to answer my questions. Does anyone know if I'll need a seperate inverter for each dial, or can one inverter feed all three? Also, can the paper be cut just about any which way without losing it's luminecient properties? I'll have to cut holes in it for the LCD screens, the needles and the reset stalk. One last question, probably to the DDI guys themselves, really - where can I get hold of some EL paper at a decent price?!! Most places I've found so far want extortinate money for the stuff, whilst EL wire is way way cheaper.

Argh! I just paid money for an eBay special thinking I was doing A Good Thing. Damnit! Andy, I'd love one of yours - the full plushed up daddy version, please!

Tales of autobulb woe! Ordered the rear aero wiper last Tuesday and the money was taken from my account last Thursday. Heard nothing from them, though, not so much as a confirmation email. Called them on Wednesday asking if everything was okay and they got back to me later in the day to say "looks like it got lost in the post..." They then said they'd send another one and if I receive two to send one back. Got home last night to find a "you missed a delivery" note, only I stated on their delivery address to send it where I work. Now I'm going to have to take some time out of my Saturday with my son to go pick up a wiper (kinda defeats the object of ordering one to be delivered when you have to pick it up yourself from miles away from where you live). All honest mistakes, I'm sure, but if anyone uses them, be prepared for something to possibly go wrong...

Ah. There I was thinking they made a mistake!

Just ordered an aero blade from http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk £11 and no delivery fee! Although, the invoice shows I also apparently ordered a pair of Xenon white bulbs for £15.99, too, which I didn't. but the total is still £11... Free stuff! Woohoo!!!

I like the look of the wiperless Corrado, but I think I'd miss the ability to clear the screen before reversing out of a parking space. Definitely like the Lupo wiper arm mod, but my welding skilss are non-existent, so I guess I'd have to employ the help of someone else, but that retro fit aero blade looks just the ticket! 18" if I recall? Thanks for all your replies, lads!

Before I buy a replacement wiper blade for the rear, anyone found a decent replacement for the rear wiper similar to the front Lupo conversion?

Brighten up the interior with half yellow leather seat re-upholstery! Take a look the the Jordan Honda Civic for an example of how good it looks: http://tinyurl.com/2bwe7e Go on, you know you want to!!! -
lol! I've been slated before just for swapping a broken exhaust for a Magnex!

Ooh, thanks for that, vwdeviant! I have targets for this year to bring the look of my Corrado up to date and this is on the list, funds allowing of course! Forgot to thank GIXXERUK in my previous post, so sorry about that and thank you for helping!

I've managed to find it - took some searching and then some! It was Erebuni who made it (their 190 kit) but all pictures on the net I can find are bad quality of a yellow corrado with a nasty spoiler over the stock one, so doesn't exactly sell the kit as a good looking one at all (about $700). At least I have a direction now!

I remember seeing a Corrado Zender body kit clone once, but for the life of me cannot remember who made it. It looked just like Zender's sublime kit they used to produce, but didn't have the quality about it. Anyone know what it is?

OEM+ - what wheels to move from 15" to 16" on a VR
storm_warning replied to jonrb's topic in Exterior
Sadly I won't be in the new rims market until my bank balance improves around summer time (unless of course you want to sell them at bargain basement knock down prices!!). -
They really do make a difference... Now stick a set of these on the front and the car should look up to date at both ends! http://dubdesignindustries.com/gallery/ddi/IMG_2976sm I see In-Pro do a fair attempt at making a set of angel eye projector lamps with blacked out reflectors, but they really do pale next to the custom fitted A4 headlights. Anyway, back on topic, I'm still going for the other set of taillights, I reckon they'll look lovely on the darker paintjob my car has. Where did you find them? I can see the 2nd set on ARZ Tuning, but not the first - did you find them on another site?
-
Oh, well that's that idea out the window! Suppose I'll have to come up with a home brew back lighting effect, then and just use my own dials. May whip it apart this weekend to see how much room I have to work with in respect of where I can place LEDs behind the cluster. Thanks for the info, Robert.

I thought the white glow just came from it having a white film on the back with clear lights behind? So sticking blue film over the white should make it still appear white until the lights are switched on, when it will glow blue? That's my understanding, anyway. I see your sig states DDI dials, can you remember from when you put them in if that's how they looked behind? Or am I just barking up the wrong tree? Or am I just barking?
-
This is good, I'm so glad this thread is running... I'm half way convinced to buy the DDI glow gauges and bung in some blue film behind it to make it blue glow, rather than white (personal preference), BUT, not everly keen on the DDI style gauges themselves (personal preference again!) so I was thinking of buying the kit and replacing the dials with something of my own design (printing onto clear film acetate to leave the essential glow-through bits nice and clear). Question is, does anyone know if the DDI dials are as swapout-able as the stock ones?

Am I the only person that likes the fisrt set?!!!

OEM+ - what wheels to move from 15" to 16" on a VR

Anyone ever found actual Solitudes in 16"? Oh, and any major ride comfort change with the 5mm crop in tyre profile? -
Shouldn't really admit to this after all the chav references!!! I went ahead and sprayed my dials "chrome" last year to brighten up the cockpit a bit. My stereo has a liver surround and silver dials and looked out of place, but as soon as the three heater dials were silver, it looked the part. My spray job didn't come up as shiney as I would have liked, but with the slightly less than chrome look, they don't stand out as something that shouldn't have been that colour in the first place...

Just had a new one in on Monday night, £15 from VW. On a late VR6 with the adjustable steering column, all my brother had to do (he's a VW mechanic, so he does this stuff for me!), was remove the wheel, stalks and cowling, then use a bent screwdriver to get at a small screw behind the switch. Whole job took him about 20 minutes. Take a look at this article, may be of some help (wouldn't worry about removing the seat, though!!): http://www.the-corrado.net/wiki/index.p ... eplacement

Visible Differences between OE/SCHRICK/VW VSR manifolds
storm_warning replied to chargedupstorm's topic in Engine Bay
I understand the 24v head comes with a plastic version of the VSR as standard. If plastic does the trick, surely a cheap alternative to the cast alloy ones could be produced? Even if it's not quite as good, as long as it's better than without... -
Thanks, Matt.

My fuel pump has stopped working. Before I go into panic mode, does anyone know which relay it uses? Many thanks, Chris.

Ooh! Ooh! Another Corrado! Must wave!!!

   I get Corsa's and Saxo's try to race me whenever I go to Stevenage, which is such a chav area now. More worrying still, I get scooter boys try it on. I saty well clear of all of that lot. Never had a Polo try it on... Golf Mk5 Tdi drivers always try - with any other car!
