1. I think i'm with Abdul.. I'm sure it would need to be 4k ish to make it worth doing, however if i were spending that sort of money, I would want a car with a later pd130 conversion. If you have a base corrado needing an engine i'd be tempted to put a standard replacement in. What you have done with yours is bloody brilliant, but i think its a labour of love rather than an investment.. Maybe theres someone out there willing to spend that money, but please dont do it thinking of the money. I hope i've come across the right way, I hate writing things that could come across wrong!
2. these suit the corrado really well and you can get VW centre caps to fit.. good price too. GLWS.
3. Of course its okay with me bud! This isn't gonna get done by the end of the week even if it can happen so home made options are better than nowt! Wendy, I think leather would be a tricky option if im honest, it was my first consideration as i'd like it in beige. However, you're then looking at two companies, how to finish edges, different sized cup inserts etc.. If it happens, it will be identical in style to the centre consoles plastic which does have that leather graining. It wont look out of place at all. That would indeed be the plan. If it doesn't look like it was meant to be there it won't happen. ---------- Post added at 11:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:30 AM ---------- Okay so a quick update... I've found a couple of local companies I can approach this week to get an idea of costing. I can't imagine anything other that it being insanely expensive in the UK, but I'll try just in case. I have also been in touch via the wonders of facebook with an old school friend who is from Indonesia. He has contacts out there who he is sure can help. we're going back and forth with info and i'd need to get a sample out to him. As a few people now have mentioned mcdonalds cups, in the interest of product design i'm going to force my hungover body to burger king for lunch, just to test the size of their cups. I'm thinking the taper on the side of the cup should be mcdonalds/coke can/red bull can, so all sit snug in thier own section, but only the redbull will hit the base. I could just go big all the way down, but a rattly red bull size can could be annoying. who knows.. I'll let you know when i hear any more progress!
4. put up the mileage and an idea of price bud, if its priced well i'm sure it wouldn't be that niche at all!
5. So when you say foam is it spongey or hard? Defo looks the right thickness. Ideally I'd like to find something with the same pattern as the interior so it all ties in but could be an option..
6. Thanks again guys, I've sent out a couple of messages to friends with contacts who might be able to help with production of a run of a neater version to see if it's even possible at a decent cost. Once I know if I can do it, I'll look at setting up a group buy feeler. In the mean time i'll just bask in the glory of my ingenuity! :2gunfire::roll:
7. Well I've been trying to sort out a plastic manufacturer for a couple of other bits, So if this is popular it could happen?! I have no idea of cost or numbers that would be needed but of lots of people are interested I could peruse it?
8. Cheers for the comments! The other idea I had was to use something like thin ply wood with a 3M leather effect vinyl.. I'm sure the right material is out there, I just haven't quite worked out what! I did think about butchering the side panel of the centre console shown, but couldn't do that to a beige piece!
9. Okay so it's only in mock up stage, but thought i'd share this - perhaps someone else has ideas for improvement! A while back someone [Jim?] mentioned that when the rear ashtray is removed it creates a perfect space for a mcdonalds cup.. This made me think i'd try and make my own cupholder.. by no means is it perfect, but I'm happy with the idea. I used a piece of guttering from B&Q £2.29 Some sticky backed foam from Hobbycraft 79p And the back of an old CD case! I cut down the CD case to match the shape of the ashtray insert and cut a central hole for the 'cup' to sit in. I then had to cut down the guttering by about 15mm as its too deep for the centre tunnel. I made a base for the cup and plastic welded it to the bottom of the now cut guttering. I then cut out a piece of foam to stick to the underside of the support and the bottom of the cup. The downside of using the CD case [the only plastic I had to hand] is it's pretty flimsy. It would be ideal if I was laying a coat of carbon on top as it's nice and thin, but not great on its own. Ideally I want to find a piece of plastic 2-3mm thick and with the same sort of leather effect pattern that the centre console has. If anyone has ideas for improvements I'm all ears! Cheers Baz
10. the see above was that i now own these seats.. they're not r32's they're G4's. fitment will be with the corrado mounts from konig, but will mean trimming and filling the holes for the harnesses. the actual R32 seat route has not been done ever afaik due to complications with airbags/seat rails/everything else..
11. ive got 185/55s which will do for the daily. ive possably got some estorils lined up from here, but let me know what you have...
12. ah man.. holy grail. paint the backs blackberry and releather the fronts cream.. painting is not a substitute, no matter how well its done. fabricating mounts will be cheaper than ordering from us, its gonna be a costly conversion but once its done will be amazing. well done.
13. i'll probably be there both days, but undecided if i want to be forced into ccgb membership to park up with other forum users.. will be good to catch up with the CF crowd though. :afro:
14. I've spoken to every powdercoater in the bristol area in the last few weeks and they're all pretty useless.. I just had a set of wheels blasted and coated by onlinecoating.co.uk and im not even convinced they blasted them. I've used www.abcenamelling.co.uk in the past and they're okay, but wouldn't be able to help with polishing lips. There was a guy who was a regular on here years back who used to sell refurbed wheels - generally black centres with polished lips. He was from swindon. Could be worth getting in touch with to see if he can still recommend somewhere over that way? http://the-corrado.net/member.php?3000-rocco-jocco
15. if it was the rarer Parmann ham i'd have taken it.
16. first year missing it for me.. took this week off to get the car ready, but not gonna happen.
17. do they not do an xl? i'm just right in the konigs and the motordrives were a squeeze but doable - just! passengers? in the back? no chance.. my car scrubs if i fill the tank! :bonk:
18. If i could do everything again i'd buy the ultravoilet rears from here and trim a set of pole positions or CS
19. no probs, i was in and out too.. didnt even think about felt until i saw the pic where you have it wrapped around the rear seat hinges. i dont think this foams gonna be any good for anything but flat surfaces, but as you say may well be better for them. i was lazy today, bad weather this morning discouraged me from going up to the garage, but its been clear all afternoon. oh well.
20. the site is very slow at the moment on my laptop and iphone.. any issues your end Andi?
21. hmm.. i dont think i looked closely enough at the pics.. the stuff you used looks more like felt than foam is that right? i bought THIS but now think i should've got THIS
