  1. Regarding the handbrake light, have you checked the brake fluid level?,it could be down due to worn brake pads, with regards to the misfire,i had the same problem but higher up the rev range with my old golf 16valver,turned out to be the distributer's hall sender that was shorting out under full power.
  2. Yeah mate,we all spend TOO much time on here, this forum is very addictive...
  3. Drown it overnite in WD40 or diesel fuel to loosen it,then heat the sod with a blow torch(having first cleaned off any flammable residue) then try getting a plumbers wrench on it,i once had to do an escort cossie's lamda probe using that method, positivly welded in place...
  4. Right then,i've been given a '93 vw passatG60 syncro with leather seats, door panels, etc. Who knows if the seats will fit into a corrado?. I know that the seats won't tilt foward 'cos the passat's a 4 door car so the back rest will be fixed but i don't care, anyone know?.
  5. Exellent henny, now maybe i could teach you some Italian mate!!.
  6. 'Cos on one of my earlier posts I kept forgeting to use thekeybord return key and so some comic subtly pointed this out,By the way mr MOD,how does one get to be a moderator?,and what does 'LOL' mean?, may seem like a dimwit question but i've never known the meaning...
  7. Whenever i've re-built any vw engine i've never put back those two bolts hidden within the gearbox's bell housing and i've never had oil leaking from there, the bolts are pigs to get out,but just try gettin them back in again without cross threading the holes. Not worth the hassle.
  8. Then why did shi@troens only have 3 bolts holding on their wheels?....

    Alternator

2.9 corrado's have a bosch 120 amp alternator. Maybe the golf 3 AAA code motor(2.8) got the 90amp jobbie??.
  10. Yep,+15 or 1 on the coil's connectors.
  11. Be extra carefull when jackin up the front half of the car, sometimes the engine mount rips right out sending stinking hyd? oil everywere...

    G60 IHI Turbo

I've made my first corrado's engine using a kkk24 turbo lifted off an american spec. audi 5000 turbo, good turbo, quick spool up and easy to instal using a golf TD moddid ex. mani. Then i fitted a 16v head to the PG block and used a Garret T3/4 turbo lifted off a delta intergrale, exellent preformance but quite laggy when using a large intercooler. Now i've built a 2000cc 9A G60.16valver,when the car comes out of the bodyshop i'll let you know what differences ther are.
  13. Check the coil connections first, (green wire),it might be the actual instrument that's faulty, try tapping the cluster next time it happens, may also be a dodgy contact on the back of the cluster.
  14. When i fitted the entire inj. system of a lancia delta intergrale,(IAW/weber), i got the signal of the green wire, same went for my previous golf2 16v turbo.

    Help 2.0 16v

Right, attach your sling/chain to the lifting hook located(should be) above the alt.braket on the cyl. head then either rap it around the exhaust mani. or directly to the gearbox mount braket. There are no AF nuts on a corrado, those exhaust clamp nuts are compleatly rusted on,go get oxy torch... Yes,you can jack the front up from that position, use a block of wood to spread the engine/gearbox weight and keep an eye on the engine's mount, once while i was jakin up my G60 with a hyd. engine mount,it came right out, spraying smelly hyd. oil all over the back of the engine!.
  16. The difference between the 4x4 and 2wd cosworth is substantial, 50% increase in in size, but there's an even BETTER 1 than that,Get 1 off an escort cosworth,inter/charge cooler combined... No worries about inlet/outlet diameter,i was pushin nearly 2 bar absolute turbo press. with previous engine,Don't use crap intercoolers simuler to the OE corrado 1 such as Ren. 5 turbo, Fiat uno turbo, golf single pass rubbish, above 1,3 bar the ends pop off. !6 vaver golf turbo's can use the Lancia delta intergrale intercooler because of the smaller water radiator fitted.
  17. You may have a faulty clutch slave cylinder, any need to top up the hyd. oil?,have you tried pumping the pedal?Try bleeding the clutch line/cyilinder.

    16v cam timing

Be VERY carefull when timing up the cams with dots as markers, sometimes they may SEEM to be aligned when in actual fact their out by 1 tooth, result, the engine turns over by hand when you check but when you start the engine it sounds like a diesel engine that's been timed wrong,The valves kiss the pistons but doesen't do any damage, the pistons will be only lightly touched and the valves don't bend(1 tooth out,2, goodbye valves..) It sounds heartwrenching,How do i know?,First hand experience....
  19. Fit an oil catch can?
  20. I've fitted an Iveco TD Daily van intercooler to my corrado when i had the turboed' 16valve motor, compared to the previous Lancia delta intergrale intercooler there was a significant pressure drop, quite noticable. It's not an easy swap, one has to modifiy the front valance, move forward the radiator, shift the batt. to the boot, cut some framework...all in all not really worth the major hassle. 1 intercooler i tried was ok,it came off a Renault 21 turbo, I connected it under the car with minimal fuss, the 1 itercooler that is exellent is the sierra cossie 4x4 intercooler, but is quite difficult to find, over here in Rome that is.
  21. Allright peeps, I've just removed all the glass from my corrado,i noticed on the windscreen about 5 small plastic spacers inbedded in the screen's mastik, does one have to re-use these fragile afterthoughts??,chime in anyone, Cheers,Andrew.
  22. I had a vr on an engine stand, to loosen that bastid of a bolt i had to use a 4ft breaker bar with a 1 inch scquare drive, then it STILL took all my weight to get it cracked, remeber, it's a strech bolt-one use only.
  23. Hi alan, Right, The blue/white wire normally found near the dist. is a spare wire used for an optional oil press. gauge, the wire goes to the fuse box. The brown/white wire should be for the fan/Temp. switch located on the left side of cam cover. Blue wire's for the Alt. signal to dash LED. Brown socket's for fuel temp/pressure sender located on the end of Injector rail, hope this helps mate. Regards,Andrew.
  24. Sorry, wrong forum...
  25. Up 'till now i'm on my 4th corrado,on all of them the brake pedal has always slowly sunk to the floor when pressed continiosly, engine running or not does'nt make any difference, the cars all had ABS,quite strange... Yes the systems all worked/braked perfectly,no air in system,no fluid loss I can understand 1 car having a defective ABS block after 15 years but 4???. Anybody else experience this?.
