Here's a couple of photos of my existing 1800cc PG block Turbo 16 valver, The 9A 16v.G60 engine is almost finished so it's time to call it a day for this motor, seeing also that it's got serios Ring/bore wear problems maybe because it was running 1.8 bar turbo pressure almost constantly and with 8 injectors rigged up the fuel cons. was ridiculess... I loved this motor,it was great when racing on rome's long ring road at nite, waiting to see if something interesting came up behind...flashing me to move over,Sierra,Escort cossies, subaru imprezas, porsche carreras... Anyway,i hope the 16v g60 mill will be ok,by the way,the turbo lag was huge, but from half way through 3rd onwards it went ballistic..Ciao.

Thanks, If all goes well with the engine and i like the engine i'll ditch the G60 digifant and go stand alone or Weber/IAW.
-
Who can burn me a digifant chip for the ECU (G60) on my G60 16valver?,SNS,Pitstop,Jabba?. I already have a BBM stage 4 chip that i ran briefly when i first bought this corrado and i'm not impressed... Air/fuel all over the place when on boost, I even tried this chip on the car when i fitted a KKK24 turbo of an Audi 5000, no change.I don't trust the sites/tables have been done well or if digi lag has been eliminated.. Cheers.

What colour is the oil?, sounds like a stupid question but it's difficult to see in the photo. Clean the area with gunk, start engine, if it's black it's probably engine oil,Timing case?, cam cover, bottom chain case?. Can you take a bigger photo? Cheers,Andrew.

changing hydraulic tappets, what else should i do
VEEDUBBED replied to coolrado's topic in Engine Bay
Hello mate, If your car's a g60 it could also be the con-rod small end bearings that are on the way out. One way to check hyd tappets is to press down on them with a screw driver and see if they can be compressed, more than 1mm play means they may have to be changed, also if they feel "spongy" If it's a 16valver,be careful when positioning the cam cver gasket, sometimes it can get dislodged when it's tightened down thus p@ssing oil out.,Same goes for the small half moon seals. -
Thanks to all, as soon as i can get away from work i'll carry on trying to sort it.Cheers.

Right lads, sorry for not replying sooner but my internet connection has been giving me no end of shiyte...,and with the Pope's sad death,Rome has also been more caotic than usual. Regarding the engine,i haven't done any internal modifications to reduce the compression ratio because, frankly, i can't bring myself to dismantel an engine that's so perfect, believe me,the engine INSIDE is as new, don't judge the engine from the outside because this corrado has been standing idle for more than 8 years so the outside looks awful, the motor's only done 66000km-32000miles... I have a few ideas regarding trying to avoid the definate poss. of detonation, one thing is to fit a huge intercooler,i'm running an intercooler of an Iveco turbo daily van,i can certainly feel the pressure drop when comparing to my old Lancia delta int.intercooler, another way is to mix acetone in the petrol, regulate the boost dump butterfly so that it opens before and failing that i'll maybe fit 2 G60 metal headgaskets as a last resort.Regarding the water pump rotation,I'm not entirly convinced that this mod. is gonna work,i don't remember if the pump's impeller has straight or curved vanes?,help me out on that one folks. It's not terribly difficult to do,you need plenty of time and patience though and it does help immensly if,like me you manage to find corrados with very low milage(and pay tuppence for them...).Anyway,when i've almost finished i'll post up in more detail what's involved part number wise etc. Please feel free to add comments/advice because all are most welcome, Cheers. One last thing,Struan, i'm glad that damm crate arrived mate, now, hopefully you can finish your gearbox and enjoy your motor! All the best to everyone.Ciao.

Hello all, I'm almost finished with my latest project engine a 2000cc 9A 16v corrado motor equipped with a G-charger. A few things i noticed while building up the engine: The 9A's inlet cam is identical to a 1800cc golf/corrado 16v's cam, regardless of year i got the impression that the 'KR's inlet had more lift?,not so... The 9A's oil pump is identical to a 1800 G60 oil pump, same part numbers. The 9A's ISV is the same as an 'ABV' VR6's one. If i see anything else worthy,i'll post it up.

Interested in a 2900cc ABV VR6?, 29000km(15000 miles) totally dismanteld Engine, ecu, cat,d.pipe sub frame etc. 1200euros the lot,you won't be worrying about tens.,chains, guides for a long time...

G60's don't have cam sensors mate. Check Fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge.
-
30 euro a can+VAT, rip off Rome stealers...
-
Remember to drill 2 small (3/4mm) holes on the thermostats outer flange otherwise bleeding all the air out can be a pig to carry out, On my old golf 2 16v this was the only way to get all the air out.
-
Need a bit more info mate,What model?G60,1800,2000cc16v?. Who did the work, you or garage mechanic? What cond. is your engine in,did you change the fuel filter?,cam timing might be a tooth out, What else was done to the engine? Cheers,Andrew.

I've got the solution!!! You could buy my 4 cyl turbo manifold,60.60 T3/4 garret turbo, KR inlet cam and blow those remaining Cosworths, clio 16v(even if it's turboed) into the weeds...Sound good?
-
Or SOMEONE could have bought my 29000km ABV VR6 and not worried about chains, tensioners etc, etc,I only want 1000 euros for the bloody thing...
-
Flusted mate, did you get my PM? If not i need your banks address+postcode, cheers.
-
Thanks Timo, I honestly forgot about the search function....

Hello all, Right I,ve got left over a mint 9A 16Valver that no one wants and i've also got a pristine G60 charger that no one wants..., so i'm gonna build a charged 9A valver just to make a change from turbos. Has anyone done this?,what engine manegment did you use,i got loads of bits,G60 injection,weber/marelli IAW, etc so parts are definatly not a problem. I'd also like opinions if such a project is worth doing,i've mainly built turbo 8/16 valvers, very powerfull but also VERY laggy,6.8 c.ratio,T3/4 Turbo,KKK26/7 turbos, huge front mount intercooler, 8injectors,longer gear ratios, race ported head etc, etc. If anyone has any opinions, experence please post them up.Thanks.VEEDUBBED

Check that the ECU pipe on throttle body has'nt been accidently conected to the wrong nipple/outlet,try swappin them over and see what happens. believe it or not this is a very common mistake thats easily made.
-
Ok heres the deal, we've only got a few VW spares places over here in Rome Henny, wanna laugh(or cry..) get this-2 rear hubs from local Stealer+ Discs=390euros,I just bought a compleat 2000cc 16valver for 500euros... with A/C,Leather etc. I'll go to my mate's breakers and get them off a golf 3 gti 16valver cost 80euros. Thanks anyway,Andrew.

Try adjusting the cables from the gearbox end, try changing gearbox oil to fully synth. grade, clutch drag?... PS,were's "frome"?
-
Be carfull because the small screws are NOT designed to be removed 'cos their peened in with a special press meaning that you may well be able to loosen the screws but by doing so you stand a good chance of buggerin up the throttle shaft's thread... One way of removin a damaged screw is by using a product called "Screw grab",works like magic, exellent stuff.
