  1. well yeah...you should be ok in the summer unless you have a fit neighbour that likes sunbathing...
  2. did you make sure you removed your pants mate?
  3. ...and taking your pants off to change your radiator is unfortunatly dangerous due to the proximity of the fan. Guys please...our friends from Norway have different traditions and methods of doing things....we're so up tight in the u.k....all these silly laws against fixing your car bullock naked outside your house and such like
  4. Im gonna leave that one for Dinkus... Glad it didn't do any more damage, it's a real shame but unfortuatly there's nothing you can do in those situations.
  5. Also not all breakdown guys are mechanics...alot of them really haven't got a clue about engines..they are just there to tow you....I was told this by the guy that towed me when I broke down in the middle of france...we had some time to kill. :D (( the mechanic guys command a higher wage ))
  6. Furry muff, just give them your membership card and driving liscence. Just from experience it worked for me, every time I've called one out as soon as they turn up I ask them to put the car on the back and get me outta there, I don't want them messing with my car, i'll only ever ring them if I have a serious problem that can't be fixed on the side of the road... Besides...like I siad, if he tells them that the cars overheating and he doesn't want it started as to not cause any more damage, then they will whack it on the back and get him home....well ....they did in my case... It's at your own risk if you rely on it though dude.
  7. I've been towed countless times and have never had to show any form of tax or m.o.t or anything else for that matter (( passport , birth certificate, licence )) The suggestion comes from previous experience having been in the same situation.
  8. I still think the best option is for you to join whichever breakdown service it is that insures you and not your vehicle , get the train up there...then ring the breakdown , tell them the car's overheating and you need a tow.
  9. LOL see....that's why you're a mod dinky.... the ability to think on the spot
  10. LOL.. Or I could lend you my blowtorch Dink?. (( sorry ...sometimes I really can't help it ))
  11. shirly you'l need to get a bigger/hotter soldering iron? :D
  12. that's not a bit of oil on your hands there is it Dink?...are you feeling ok??
  13. I'd have hit the roof. Also most of the guys ( generalising ) working at VAG nowadays have not done much with anything over 3-4 years old....the independant specialists have generaly been trained at VAG years ago (( so know more about 10-15 yr old cars ))
  14. I'd say that it's quite logical for the insurance company to charge more if the power is being uprated.
  15. If you're a member of the RAC then why not call them? that's why you pay your membershi fee's....whether you get a goodun depends on the guy that gets sent to you, some of them are good and it can't hurt to get their suggestion, it may be something simple that you haven't noticed.
  16. Just my opinion mate, but it seems that selling a modified car , especially bodywork wise , is always going to be tricky. Most people that are into modified cars are actually into the modding bit...they don't want to buy someone else's vision of the perfect raddo...they want to create their own. I think this is why you will never get what the car is really worth after having done major mods to it. With reagrds to the engine, I suppose that's down to the cost, when you bare in mind that there are 2 very nice looking 20VT raddo's for sale at the moment for £5-£6.5k and they aren't shifting either, you'd have to find the engine pretty chepa and convert it cheaply to make it viable. I reckon you're better off waiting untill the spring....as has been said numerous times....it is a really bad time for selling cars/raddos....certainly don't let it go for silly money. Best of luck anyway.
  17. dunno precisely which hose you mean mate...but I would suggest you replace it if it was there and now it's not?...that's just what I would do though. :D
  18. Sorry, forgot to mention that N&G are a VAG specialist garage, they can stamp your history book and it will hold as high a regard as a VW stamp with anyone that knows of them....I took my car to various back street vw specialists to get most work done...but if you want to maintain a good history then i'd use N&G
  19. Take it to N&G motors behind the Fluers pub in Splott (( portmanmoor Rd Lane )) ..they have a loooooooong waiting list usualy, but they are very good, and I think they charge £35 an hour instead of the £80 the stealers charge EDIT-- N&G -- 02920 461 661
  20. It might not brake the bank...but it's still a bugga that they can charge £40 for a rubber hose...Gits
  21. I have to say, and I do have my flame suit on, My 8v had standard shocks and Apex 40mm springs, I think they're around £80, and it handled really well, and wasn't too stiff etc...it's best to change as many parts while you're there though (( top mounts ,bumpstops etc )) ..to a degree, you do really get what you pay for, but not everyone has a fat wallet.. don't think that if you don't join the Koni/H&R brigade your car will ride like sh!t cos that's not true. :D

    Wheel Nuts

..Just buy really sh1t alloys....then no-one will want to nick them... :? P.S....The more I think about it the less lightly it is that the wheels bolts made it through my last clear out....if someone else has any can you sort it out? PPS....I've deffinately got a really good set of locking wheels bolts though that I don't need, but with postage costs etc it would probebly be cheaper for you to go to hellfrauds.
