My Dad used to have 8-9 pints and drive home  - and you wouldn't have been able to tell he had been drinking either - somehow :? The only thing that made him stop was when he became a magistrate  There wasn't the stigma attached back in the day - whereas now, quite rightfully - it's really looked apon shamefully by society.

I reckon it might have been an ejector seat - looking at the mark on Chaz's missus' shoulder from the force of the seatbelt it's the only thing that stopped her from dissapearing through the roof   I certainly didn't expect his sunroof to arrive before he did anyway
-
Pretty sure, I just think I have a run of bad luck! Nah, it's not a genuine exhaust dude, when I sold it to you I told you it needed replacing - I'm suprised you've managed to make it last this long :) ( BTW - I'm thinking of popping down to Salt for a pint or two later if you fancy it? )
-
And you left the sunroof in my fecking back garden! It might be worth mentioning, that Chaz was on a strip of private runway that runs parallel to the A30 cruising at around 120MPH when it happened, so it's not something that you need to add to your list of paranoias whilst on the motorway under more 'normal' speeds

 No offence to any members that are road workers of course!

Yeah, my initial thoughts were the engine mount on the previous valver I had with the same problem, but after it was put down to a cheap quality exhaust I tried to ignore it. It was only when I had exactly the same problem with this other valver that I thought it must be something other than the exhaust. I thought i'd bump the thread to see if surfer_vr6 had changed the mounts ( or anything else for that matter ) so I know what's been tried before shelling out for parts I don't need :?
-
I've had exactly the same problem as this, on my last valver aswell as my current one. Obviously surfer.vr6 didn't get to the bottom of the problem because I bought the car from the guy that bought it from him and it was still the same! It was only when I was searching for a solution to the problem that I found this thread :) - I took the car to RKE and they put the vibration down to a cheap exhaust system which having read the above post it obviously isn't because surfer.vr6 was having the problem before and after fitting the exhaust. I sold the car on and i've now bought another 16v that runs as sweet as a nut apart from this horrible vibration that can be felt through the cabin between 3250 and 3750 revs. At first I thought it might be transmition related but if you sit and hold the car at 3.5k revs when it's not in gear the vibration is the same. It's really weird because the car runs very quietly and smoothly up to and after the roughness at around 3.5K revs :(. It's also a bloody co-incidence that the last two 16v's have had exactly the same problem! Has anyone else had this problem? Or can anyone shed any light on what could be causing it ? :(

I'm driving a low mileage valver at the momment that's pretty much mint - i've also got a dog , and he gets taken to the beach every day so makes a bit of a mess. I've had a different car for taking him in untill recently so it's only just become a problem. I'm thinking of getting one of those gate things so that I can sling him in the boot, i'm not sure whether he'll like being relegated to the boot but i'd rather that than ruin a 12 year old interior that looks like new :(

Plus, if it was true - does he sound like the type of guy that would want to buy a modded 1.4 Mk3 Golf for his wife?

Lippy, right click on the box and click 'show picture'

There was a white 16v on ebay recently with one, might be still on there

Shouldn't be too expensive, just get one of these kits...

We're all different Kev and we all like to do things in different ways! It certainly doesn't allways come from the same suppliers and if your local butcher does sell the same stuff then he deserves to be out of business, which by the sound of it he does anyway if he has flies buzzing around his brown ham! Again, we're all different Kev. The thought of driving into a packed Tescos on Saturday to park my car next to some twunt that has no problems with opening their door onto mine, to get in and pace up and down the isle with a trolly packing it full of junk and stuff that I didn't really want or need to buy anyway. All the 'in house' stuff is generally made by people who couldn't care less what it tastes like as they're all behind the scenes, they have no interest in bakery/fish/meats etc they're just doing their shift. You also get that generic smile from everyone who works there, and the scripted speel that they all have to give " would you like a hand packing?" "No, I think I can manage with my packet of sandwhiches thanks" " Do you have a clubcard sir?" " No I fekcing don't and I flat refuse to buy into your marketing ploy you bastids, now give me my change and let me get out of this god forsaken hell hole" - not like in small shops that actually care what the product and service like becuase you're their bread and butter Well , I do! :)

Nice car!

Every single time, without fail. It's only when you get used to real food that you realise just how shi't supermarket food is. I can't stand them, and for this exact reason, we're going the way of America with the likes of Wallmart ( who own Asda ) - buying EVERYTHING under one roof  - how the hell are small business's supposed to survive with competition like that :( I don't use Supermarkets.

Enjoy, there's nothing like a good Euro road trip in the Rado
-
Yeah, but my point was, that if you bought a rado with similar mileage to your S3 then you could expect as trouble free motoring as you can with you S3 - coupled with lower running costs :) - And you could pick up a VR6 Rado with around 70k-80k miles on it for half what you paid for the Audi Sounds like a write off   - seriously though, I don't see those few problems as particularly bad within 18 months, if you totted up how much it will cost to sort it's pretty negligable. I think the S3 is a cool car , but I won't be convinced that it'll save you money or hassle in the long run :)
-
Err, to be fair, your S3 has done half the mileage that your VR6 has dude! :) Also, apart from your ECU problem ( which you have to admit to taking the most expensive route to fixing ) has your Rado ever let you down in the 18 months you've owned it? :? ( and as you know, i've offered to put your car on my insurance policy as it won't cost a penny, so I think you should keep it where it is for a few months before making the final decision to sell, finding a OBD2 Rado to replace it with will be pretty difficult! )
-
^^ Indeed, you've hit the nail on the head for me. Buying a newer car to keep running costs down can be a false economy when you consider everything, not least depreciation. I can't see me ever spending much more than £4k-£5k on a car tbh So , Trig. Sell me your VR6, and i'll be glad to sell it back to you at an inflated price ( these VR6 Corrado's are becoming rare you know  ) in 6 months when you've realised the error of your ways

Skim reading ?

If you still have these feelings about the car id say you should either: a) Get yourself a daily runner and keep it for weekends and special occasions. b) Spend some money andtime modernising it, 24v engine, interior change, etc etc. Yeah, I agree with that. Looks like there's a few people in this thread that need to go and see PSI tuning or the like with their cheque books at hand! :)
-
Yeah, that sums it up well tbh Yeah, fair point mate - I realise it's ideal for what you're looking for, and it's a fecking nice car for a good price too tbh. It's certainly a nice daily driver and like I said earlier, you can feel that the engine has alot more to give, so it should be alot better after the re-map etc 8) - I'm just a fecker when it comes to cars, if it aint a raddo it's crap   It won't be long before large wedges of cash are leaving your account in the direction of RKE, they have a habbit of doing it - especially since John joined the ranks, you'll go in for an oil change and come out with a different engine

I just had a little blip in Trigs car. It's a lovely looking car in fairness, and the seats and interior are the usuall Audi quality, but I have to admit to being seriously underwelmed when it came to power and grin factor :? ( I didn't drive it very far though and I was a bit wary of driving Trigs new toy, so I doubt I got the most out of it )- It'll be interesting to see what it's like to drive after the re-map and suspension change. At the end of the day, i'm completey blinkered when it comes to cars. Whenever I drive another car I just compare it to the Corrado and i've not managed to find anything that beats the all round enjoyment that it gives.

The car in M15 Vw's sig is blackberry :)
