  1. took a severence package from the local council(17 years service) in July was on Garden leave from May and passed my Hackney test 2 weeks before my official finishing date so easy 8 months now wish I did this sooner, although it means I have little time or inclination to drive the other motors in my wee fleet, easy done 30k+ miles since July

yip there was a VR6 that was unfortunatley stolen and BURNT out a few years back
  4. what a pipe and some sucking action costly
  5. they can when its diluted with petrol but it doesn't fluck them up
  6. wrong way round matey..................Diesel in a Petrol engine isn't potentially catastrophic it will just burn off eventually screwing yer emmissions for a wee while...................petrol in a Diesel engine however can ruin the entire fuel system as their is nothing to lubricate the Diesel injection system fubaring the injectors
  7. Ok. Dude, that sounds like the ok of a man who is not ok! :D 1500 seems a bit steep for second hand, or is it really worth that much more than a schrick? I;ve never heard of Pierburg. Is that a heinous crime? rarer than the Schrick with the added benefit of it being designed for under the bonnet plus masses more "scene" points :D
  8. wrong bonnet on there matey.......................should be a later bonnet not an early one as ALL 2.0 16v's should have the _-----_ bonnet as opposed to the --___-- bonnet
  9. well to be pedantic/anorak-ish ALL Storm's had the Karmann badge til the Storm badge kit was applied at the dealer
  10. nice looking VR...........asides from the ludicrous exhaust
  11. IIRC dependant on the year the mk3 16v and 8v GTI's had 280mm's as standard...........and IIRC increased to 288mm in late 1995
  12. Remember that different grade oils will be in different states at those temperatures, so what is a fine oil temp in one car could well be shell melting in another. I'd sh*t a brick if my MAF told me oil temp was 130 deg in any car. 2p. best not read the owner's manual then
  13. around town I get up to 108deg on the oil temp, fast Motorway driving I have seen 124(hot summer's day too) at the most as long as it keeps under 130 degrees you should be ok..........the Corrado VR is notorious for running hot due to the cramped installation in the engine bay............not helped if you have a grille with the top slats covered
  14. yes its very possible as VW charged approx £19ea for a plug for a VR6 back then...........if the PO shopped around he could have bought the identical NGK plug in his local halfords for £5ea
  15. Whats the chances of that being on the DVLA database! well if its wearing LT plates then there is no chance whatsoever and in case some folk think that there was bang on 9000 Corrado's sold in the uk IIRC it was just over 9000
  16. thats the thing............they ain't identified on the V5 hence how those figures could be got at needs the bucket of salt
  17. large bucket of salt needed here perhaps the fact that x amount of the VR6's listed are Storm's shows how inaccurate these figs are DVLA don't class the Storm as a separate model on their database
  18. only the Corrado and IIRC the very rare mk3 Golf Synchro have the 2.9 ABV,the Sharan,Vento,Caravelle and Passat have the AAA 2.8 VR
  19. Porsche are more concerned about losing "London" based customers here more than about the unfair tax on the motorist.............
  20. lack of "supercharged" badge on the back of the G60???
  21. latest issue of Autocar has Richard Bremner mentioning the Corrado in his series of cars "he didn't buy" a few wee minor errors tho..............he seems to think that all we got for the first couple of years was LHD G60's..........no mention of the valvers
  22. as the old adage goes "buy cheap and pay dear" remember the amount of pressure and heat it will be under..............the last thing I would do is buy a cheaper patern part expansion tank
  23. late spec indicator units are £20-ish +VAT ea from GPC............why the hell would you try and fit crappier looking early ones into a late spec is beyond me
  24. the box is a cable change box the clutch is hydraulic
  25. What's under the bonnet of these? I saw one in front of me yesterday and it ripped away like it's owner was on fire. Badge just said 16v, but i'm thinking 2.2 flat-4 maybe? there's two motors the Twin Spark is an in-line 4 cyl 2.0L 16v and there's the 3.0 V6 its the 95-2004 shape model I like
