  1. Thanks - that's the first check in the morning then
  2. Is there a simple (non-diagnostic) test to detect if your Idle Stabilisation Valve is faulty or sticking? For example is it safe to unplug the connector when the engine's warm to see if the hunting stops? Or is it possible to see anything wrong by hooking up a multimeter. Car is a VR6. Any suggestions appreciated! Cheers John
  3. All updated to this line, plus a few other events of interest added. See original post for new file versions. p.s. Note that all events for Donington Park are conditional on the location being made usable. Currently the place is (apparently) half dug up and all the staff were made redundant in December when the finance failed. All looks a bit bleak for events this year but keep on checking.
  4. Yeah i heard. Ban was over turned or something. It says he and simmons got compensation... so are they both deemed to be innocent or what? What seems to becoming clearer is that the FIA are sure to appeal the court's decision. In addition it's interesting to note that the court decision has not cleared Briatore of the charge of orchestrating the crash, the decision is purely about the legitimacy of the FIA's punishment. Flavio has been huffing & puffing about suing people and having his name cleared but his career in motorsport is still trashed. The guy cheated, and nobody will associate with him in future. Suing the FIA, Renault, Piquet and drivers who've ended thier management contracts with him may put some money in the bank (possibly) but it won't restore his reputation. Indeed the opposite is a more likely outcome.
  5. No problem at all Jim. I tried to upload them to the CCGB forum this morning but there's a bug with adding attachments.
  6. Updated event calender downloads now available for 2012 for those VW & Motorsports events which have declared their dates at the time of writing. Most of the dates for the established VW events are out (except for Edition 38 ). Many of the motorsport series calenders have yet to be published but these are normally out by the end of February. Two files attached containing : a) VW specific events only b) Motorsport and Motoring events calender Cheers, John Event List VW - 2012a.pdf Event List Motorsport - 2012a.pdf
  7. I think you're far more likely to get solid answers about that on a Lotus forum surely?
  8. Interesting post and some sobering pictures. Again without wishing to patronise you at all, you were very lucky you weren't more seriously injured.
  9. I know people who've run both these cars and he's right - both are fair commitment financially but the Integrale even more so than a Quattro. From what I understand scarcity of parts is already an issue on the Lancia too. You'll find both cars have interiors which are far inferior to what you're used to in your Corrado. Lots of wind noise, and in the case of the Lancia fairly appalling panel gaps and build quality too (the doors really do "clang" shut). Mechanically they're quite strong but they're complicated to put right and not something for home mechanics unless you really know what you're doing. Personally I'd go for the Quattro as it's just a much nicer car in addition to the fabulous noise and easy torque led driving. The Quattro is more the daily driver material. But realistically an Impreza is a cheaper and better road car than either of them.
  10. Thanks for the tip but you'll forgive me if I thought otherwise from the photograph.
  11. yep mate modernline 1pc I have to say I think those are just about the nicest rims I've seen on a [strike:z78nodni]silver[/strike:z78nodni] white Corrado. They really compliment the car's look.
  12. I like those wheels Rob, what are those? Schmidts?
  13. I see the TG team resorted to repeating thier old jokes all over again. Segment about improbable racing with BTCC drivers crashing into each other... check Segment with stupid 4x4s raced against each other.... check Segment with spoof 'serious' review of a shit car no-one's interested in... check Star in a Reasonably Priced Car now featuring monosyllibic Z-list celeb.... check I'm worried they're out of ideas. This was a programme full of repeats of old ones. The poof joke was about the only original gag in the whole hour. Part of the problem is that because TG gets strong ratings they're under pressure to produce 2x series a year and there just isn't enough material to make that many programmes. I had the programme on - sure - but I wasn't sitting watching every second with glee. I watched it in the hope that a good bit would come up and because the alternative was f**king X-factor (and I've almost worn out my copy of Forza3)
  14. Read about it here : http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4515333
  15. I've been on telly 3 times  Your court appearances on Yorkshire News don't count Kip :D
  16. Add to that list the GT40 Focus RS Capri 2.8i Capri 3.0s Ford GT Mustang GT390 Thunderbird GT Falcon (thanks to Mr Bana for moving that into the sunlight) On a seperate point the observant journos at the Daily Fail have this (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... -fake.html) today. Well done boys for taking 4 days to figure out what everyone else knew instantly when the programme went out on Sunday. Durrrrrrrh !
  17. Can anyone explain how that minging front end is an improvement in any way at all? Did the world suddenly run out of Corsas and Meganes or something?
  18. You don't know how close to truth you are. My drivers door "broke" and unable to open it from inside or out, unable to remove the door card to get to the mechanism, I called in a specialist mechanic who had done similar jobs before and had the right tools for the job. Turned out the latching mechanism was seized. Part ordered from Germany, job done (this was this week) The pillock on that thread would have screwdrivered the door, broken the glass, and then probably cut the door off with a chainsaw. And then gone on the Honda forum and called VW's crap because of his bad work. I mean how much of a muppet is it possible to be? The word "retardation" just doesn't even do it for me. :)
  19. It's a indicator of the kind of dimwit involved that the thread is titled "Don't buy a VW" What? Because you're too stupid to remove a locking wheelnut without completely knackering it? Because you're so stupid that you end up cutting the whole wheel off rather than admit defect and get a proper mechanic with proper tools to do the job? Is there even a word in the English language which can describe this degree of stupidity? Perhaps "Honda" has hidden meanings in Japanese I wonder...
  20. I'm pleased to say I thought last night's episode was a lot better than the dreary one they put out last week. The Clarkson piece on the Audi R8 and the hilarious, bonkers, dangerous Corvette ZR1 was classic TG stuff in my opinion.
  21. Is the Veyron faster than an R1 Racecar ? Now I've finally conquered level 50 (but not yet figured out why my router firewall won't allow my new wireless-equipped xBox to connect to it) I thought it would be an interesting diversion to see if the Veyron can lay indeed claim to being the fastest car in FM3. The question lurking in my mind was if there was a circuit (other than the obvious oval) where the Veyron's prodigious top end speed could pull out enough of an advantage to keep it ahead one of the top race cars. The only circuit I could think of was... Le Mans. The 'old Mulsanne' circuit contains not only the legendary 4½ mile straight, but also the 2 mile run down to Indianapolis corner. Maybe the Bug would have a chance after all. The Bugatti was tuned and steamlined for the event. Upgraded turbos with 1250bhp, sticky tyres and aero removed produced an impressive 261mph terminal speed down Mulsanne and 245mph before braking at Indianopolis. The acceleration also at least as good as any of the racecars, and better beyond 150mph. Put in 5 laps, struggling to keep the car reasonably neat and not lose time through the twistys and posted a decent enough 3:15.252 - a fair baseline to start the comparison. For comparison I passed over my favoured Audi R15 and selected the Peugeot 908HDi for the run, as this car is capable of being modified that bit more to run in 'x' class. Unsurprisingly the Peugeot although blessed with incredible cornering and braking capabilities was handicapped down the long straights by only being able to pull 220mph on the Mulsanne, handing the Bugatti something like an 11s advantage down that section alone. But the Peugeot was easier to drive and with the ability to take the Porsche Curves almost flat in 5th where the Bugatti was slithering around in third. On only the second lap in the 908HDi I posted a comfortable 3:08.461, proving that no matter how quick you may think a Veyron is (even in a game) a racecar is almost always going to be on a level above. Le Mans Mulsanne Circuit: Bugatti Veyron : 3:15.252s (261mph vmax) Peugeot 908HDi : 3:08.461 (220 mph vmax)
  22. You know I've thought about it a bit and realised my Corrado doesn't have a system like that. Lucky me.
  23. Well my VR6 is 16 years old now and it takes some dedication and finance to keep them on the road (as I of all people know!) How many Ford Sierras, or even Mondeos do you see out there? Not many, and they sold millions of those things. The Corrado was a pretty unusual car even when it was being made. For me, the increasing rarity of the cars makes those moments when you swap a headlight flash with another Corrado on the road all the more heartwarming.
  24. Rumours are that Hamilton may be driving for Ross Brawn by 2012...
