  1. When i bought my bmc, Motorbitz (the chav car shop) was about £20 cheaper than anywhere else- despite them having to order it specially . i already had a coupler for the MAF sensor tho.
  2. And this company is cheaper still; http://www.mjmautohaus.com/catalog/prod ... cts_id=717
  3. 4. Well there you go!, some interesting points and good to get some feedback from other users, i'll be removing the bodged up monster that is lurking under my wing and just run it with a short feed as pictured above 8)
  5. Not had the corrado on the road much since i moved up this way so you wouldn't of seen it unfortunately, just started trying to get it up togther again ready for the summer, That's a nice simple way of setting it up- i think i was trying to be too clever going for the 'Ram Air' effect of linking it straight to the front of the car. I'm sure any advantage it would provide would be lost in the extra ducting and bends required to do it anyway! I think you could of just answered my question! Cheers, hopefully see you around soon!
  6. I've been using a BMC CDA for a couple if years and i'm really pleased with it, I have connected the cold air feed to a chopped up brake duct, works fine but looks a bit of a mess, Does any one know of a neat way of setting up the cold air feed? i've been looking at all the different ducts etc that you can get from places like demontweeks but there doesn't seem to be a way of fitting anything like that on the 'rado as there is'nt the space to mount the inital scoop/duct or run the feed to the CDA. Any suggestions?
  7. Yeah i'll take your spare bush, certainly worth a try, PM me your details and i'll paypal you the money.
  8. Cheers, just been through all the previous threads, alot of useful info, going to order all the bits from the link you provided and replace to whole cabana, thanks again,
  9. So thats the thermostat housing! should of realised that really- was too busy being arsey about finding another leak! Cheers,
  10. On my VR6, there is a large plastic water housing directly above the engine mount, and it seems to be leaking! i can't see exactly where, but i'm guessing/ hoping that it's just the gasket between the housing and the engine, What is the housing called?? is it fairly easy to remove or do you need to remove rad and slam panel to get access to bolts?? is the gasket likely to be source of of the minor leak? can you replace gasket and bolts without replacing the whole housing??
  11. Finally got the chance to go and explore the problem further today, The plug on the expansion tank has 0.25v on one pin and nothing on other (pressumable earth) if you earth across the pins the light still flashes (i would of thought that completing the circuit would turn the warning light off?) Also, attaching the voltmeter across the pins reads nothing but attaching it between the live pin and the battery earth reads a current. Therefore the earth connection on the plug is broken?? which is why the warning light is flashing? am i thinking along the correct lines??
  12. Any other ideas or suggestions to check? didn't get round to working on the car this weekend as it didn't stop raining!
  13. will do tomorrow if it ever stops raining!
  14. So what bushes are required to do a 1995 VR6 corrado on the gear box end? wheres the best place to get them? how much are they likely to be? can you get them as a kit? and are they fairly easy to fit or do you need the special VW tools? Cheers, Adam
  15. Thats interesting, I hadn't realised there was a difference in expansion tanks, however the car never uses any coolant and the level remains correct within the tank.
  16. The engine temp stays at a sensible constant level and the fans come on when needed, so the temp sender must be ok ? (or are there multiple temp senders?)
  17. I have had my current corrado 3 years now and the water level warning light has flashed as long as i have had it! I have changed expansion tank several times and checked all visible plugs and connections. I'm not worried about the water level as i have replaced the entire cooling system with new VAG parts within the the last 500 miles, and i have only ever used proper coolant from vw. My old mechanic has also briefly looked and couldn't find any problem. The car is a VR6 conversion (from before i bought it) and the bloke that did it was clearly a tw*t, so i suspect that the light hasn't been connected properly in the dash, tommorrow i'm going to take the clocks out to try and find any faults, but i thought i would check if anyone had any suggestions??
  18. My gear box is really vague (although all gears can be found correctly - theres just a lot of play) The linkage on top of the gear box is all very rusty and all the joins have a lot of play, is there a kit you can buy to replace the worn washers & bolts etc? or is it a case of trying to get all the little bits seperately? if so any ideas what the part numbers may be?
  19. Just to throw in a curve ball, my old 16v suffered an electric's melt down in the dash that filled the cabin with smoke very quickly with no warning, - would be worth checking your electric's are all working ok before you blow a load of cash fixing the wrong thing! It was my head lamp switch and loom that melted, so check you still have lights,
  20. have been to local shop and there are loads of different Power steering fluids and ATF fluids for different manufacters etc. As i don't know whats in it at the moment the how do you drain the whole system- i.e between the pump and steering rack etc, so i change change it all in one go?
  21. excellent, thats what i needed to k now, thanks guys.:salute:
  22. The two fuel lines that run from the back of the engine bay to the fuel rail on the front of the engine are completely knackered- (perished and p**sing petrol all over road!!!) The hoses that are on there have a metal braid on the outside- is this neccesary or is it just for show?? VW have just quoted £30 (+vat) for each of the 2 hoses!! but the local car shop sells fuel line at £4.50 per metre but without the external braid, why the price difference? there are no special fittings- just a jubilee clip each end.
  23. so what about mine!? has no ABS, comes up as a 1990 16v but has vr6 under the bonnet. and as is a 1990 it didn't have a cat when new so now i run a cat bypass without any problems! (must admit will need to take it to a garage that i haven't been to before for next mot, so anything could happen!)
