  1. both of my inner cv joints are now knocking so something needs to be done!!! as usual it's not a convenient time to give car to garage, so was half considering doing it myself, whats involved and are any special tools needed? any advice would be apreciated.
  2. silflex look promising, i'll give them a bell on monday, samco only seem to do standard replacements.
  3. yeah if i had done the original conversion i definately would of done, but as all i need is new hoses i figured i'd stick with it insead of having to replace radiator and fans and get a slam panel sprayed up and then buy hoses!
  4. i need some radiator hoses made to link my G60 rad (used as it fits my early slam panel etc) to my vr6 engine, at present i have made some myself using large bore copper pipe cupplers to connect the hoses, it's definatly not pretty but works perfectly. however would like something a little more professional! does anyone know of a company that could help me???
  5. i'm running an early slam panel with a later vr6 bonnet and the only problem i find is the bonnet catch in the centre doesn't quite match- (needs pushing in as you close bonnet) early/ late slam panel differences certainly won't result in the different alignments your experiencing, just need to adjust bonnet at the hinges. i met a man who was gonna buy a bonnet off me as he had had a light bump (appeared just enough to crack grill and sightly bend leading edge of bonnet) but my square bonnet would never fit the space left as his chasis was slightly twisted, - so is worth checking before spending money elsewhere!!
  6. i haven't got a set timer function on mine as it's a 1990 model so should be fairly basic, however just been into my local stealers and they want nearly £40 for the relay and would need to be a special order!!!! so gonna dismantle stalks this afternoon and clean contacts etc to see if that sorts prob.
  7. driving down motorway last night the intermitant wipers setting stopped working, it wipes as you switch it down into intermitant mode and again as you switch it off but doesn't do it on it's own like it should. wheres first place to look? relay? if so which one?
  8. yeah thats what i expected, thanks for your help,
  9. even sticking with the OEM ones, should i go with 16v to match the bodywork or later vr6 ones to match the suspension and weight of engine??
  10. John at JMR (he'll be doing the work) told me to get a set of bonrath top mounts as he has put them on a number of G60's with FK's, however bonrath have just gone bust and venom reckon their own brand of up-rated mounts will do the same job, i just don't know what model to go for, i suspect it will just be a case of suck it and see tho!
  11. i'm about to fit a set of fk konigsport coilovers to my corrado and just tried to order a set of venom's uprated top mounts to change in the process. however, venom said that they are only for post '92 cars so may not fit my 1990 16v body although the rest of my suspension has been changed along with the engine to VR6 spec, can anyone help- is there a difference?? if so so i go with 1990 16v spec or late vr6 spec? and does this mean i'm also gonna have problems fitting my konigsports (as they are for the later vr6 models)?
  12. i'm about to buy new wheels for my corrado, i'm currently running 17x8in wheels and the ones i want to get only come in 17x7in. i intend to continue using 205/40/17 tyres so will the footprint on the road remain the same??
  13. on my VR6 the breather pipe/ non return valve coming off the large plastic air inlet has been in pieces since i bought the car, previous owner has unsuccessfully bodged it, meaning the breather pipe is never fully connected. engine seems to run fine and sailed through recent MOT so what does the pipe in question actually do? is it worth spending money fixing?
  14. Yep there's a difference in shape too, the one on my early shape 1990 G reg is too 'square' to fit a VR6 engine in the bay comfortably, it seems the later models had a more 'shaped' slam panel to accomodate the larger VR6 engine when it was introduced, then maybe all the models used the same panel, can anyone else confirm this?
  15. what arch mod's are required to fit 9 x 16 in ET15 to the back and still have it lowered? ( and front if poss on a early body??) i'd seen those borbet T's on ebay at the mo as well, seriously tempted, have a look at the sellers shop, he's got a whole range of tasty rims!
  16. hmmm, could be an interesting problem for me as i'm running a '95 2.9 vr6 in a 1990 16v body, so the engine had a cat once upon a time but the body never did...... not had any prob's with mot's yet (just had one done) but should confuse the tester with the new system. Any ideas how they'll handle it??
  17. on my old 16v corrado i fitted a tsr 4-2-1 stainless manifold and was seriously impressed at the improvement in performance and sound, now i have a VR6 and the engine is pretty much standard except for a BMC CDA induction kit and full miltek exauhast system with cat bypass. is there any improvement to to had in fitting an aftermarket manifold to a vr6? if so which make? or does the fact you don't see many suggest it'as not woth the cost?
  18. i have just gained a company car which means my corrado is not getting much use, i don't have a garage and was amazing at how quickly it started to look kack just sitting outside in the weather :( Therefore a cover is required to keep it looking good and protect it from the worst of UK weather- hot cold and wet! can anyone recommend a supplier or make? is there any thing i should steer clear of to prevent rubbing on the paint etc? should it breathable to let moisture out? how much is it likely to cost? any advice would be much apreciated.
  19. i'll give the stalks a good clean as they are full of dust and kack which can't be helping! getting company car next week so hopefully means that the 'rado can be kept in the condition it deserves instead of bouncing round on building sites and being full of mud and dust!!
  20. yeah thats what i thought, must just be a tempremental switch, thanks.
  21. i've now had 3 corrado's over the last few years and as yet have been unable to find a way to turn off the rear wipers!! much fiddling with the stick sometimes works, but usually i have to turn the ignition off to stop it! how are you supposed to do it? have i just been unlucky or is this a normal thing?
  22. as long as i have had my current corrado i can only operate one electric window at a time (opening and closing), not really a problem but when locking the car you have to wait for both windows to close one after the other, is this normal :? ??
  23. Venom certainly can't be beaten on prices! i'm shopping round for a full set of powerflex bushes at the mo and my local car shop said he would 'do me a deal' and sell me a full set for £220 !!! venom sells them for £130 for exactly the same! if all the kit on yours is original it's probably gettin tired and if you can afford to do it all at once you'll notice one hell of a difference when it's done!! i'm planning exactly the same as you when i get paid next in oct as my rado is handling like a broken wheel chair on the bumpy roads down my way!
  24. cheers henny, i guess it's just the length that varies on the front to allow different size discs and calipers, have emailed goodridge but never had reply, if they get back to me with details i'll update the thread incase anyone else is interested (cos it is such an interesting subject..... ).
