my corrado started life as a 1990 16v and it has since been converted to a late spec vr6 (inc hubs, brakes and suspension). which goodridge braided brake lines should i get, 16v or vr6? i'm guessing that caliper end is vr6 and other end is 16v, is there any difference?? whats the difference between all the corrado's as Goodridge list quite a few different kits? any ideas?? :?

Fixed it!!! :D finally found the source of the clunking to be the joint on the wheel end of the front wishbone, one of the 2 bolts that hold it to the wish bone had come loose and the wheel had just enough movement to clunk!! and the best bit is it didn't cost a penny! if only all the problems on a vr6 were so easily fixed......

Cheers Gavin, i'll be getting under there tonight!!, i'm sure it's a combination of knackered bushes and something like a ball joint as it does wander badly, i'll update the thread if i fine anything interesting lurking under there!
-
yeah i have not checked if it's loose, just know i have a loose/worn part and exploring all the options. i didn't make much sense there was a part that could be removed!! any ideas for deciding where clunking is coming from?? top mounts, wishbone bushes or drive shaft? all of them could be worn but don't know how to check!

i'm still trying to isolate a clunking sound coming from the front of my vr6, it's either drive shaft, top mounts or bushes i'm sure but don't know how to isolate which one! i've read in a couple of threads that one of the drive shafts has counter weights that can become loose and knock and that they can be cut off as they don't do anything, surely this can't be true?! why are they there if they don't do any thing!? or have i just misunderstood someone elses thread?

How much for wheel refurb? & what options are avaliable?
adamukcorrado replied to adamukcorrado's topic in Exterior
yep that all makes perfect sense, and the wheels i was looking at don't look such good value any more, but i'll give the pro's a call. thanks for your help. -

hmmmm, yeah they are definately real split rims, not sure what exactly needs doing to them, is even just getting the rims polished and the centres powder coated/ painted going to be a problem?? are split rims so much harder to do or is it simply the coast if they mess it up? -
currently i've got 17x 8in wheels on my vr6 (can't remember off set off top of my head) and on the back they just catch the arches if you hit a bump at speed or have people in the back, how much am i looking at to get arches rolled slightly??
-
I'm after getting some split rim oz wheels, have been advised they need a re-furb, they have polished rims, does any one know what kind of prices i could expect and what options are avaliable. i.e rims and centres polished? (is there different kinds of polished?) and painting or powder coating centres? any experiences or recommendations would be really useful!

yep, a garage it is then, don't fancy getting half way and not being able to finish the job! forecast says rain tomorrow, not ideal for rollin around under your car! have fun! :) -
yeah i'm not too concerned about the noise yet, i had john at JMR do a serious amount of work at the same time (chains tensioners, cluch etc etc ) so not sure exactly if he replaced release bearing etc, but i'm sure he would of done if he deemed it required. going back to him soon ish to give my bank account another battering so i'll get him to look then.

yep and mine, but the more i hear the more likely i am to take mine to a garage! any tips tho in case i do decide to do it myself?? good luck tomorrow! -
Mine has been doing this, started about a fortnight after having clutch and slave cylinder replaced., sounds to be coming from under bonnet as opposed to pedal.
-
hmmm, sounds like the kind of job i'd start and then wish i'd given it to a garage to do!! looks like it can wait til it's next garage visit then, at least it will give the 'clunking' time to delevop into something easier to diagnose. cheers david

i need to change my front wishbone bushes in an attempt to stop random clunking, i'm going to up grade them to powerflex bushes. whats the best way to go about it? do i need special tools? should it be left to a garage? looks straight forward but i haven't attempted it before!
-
Are the wish bone bushes fairly easy to replace? i'm guessing it's just a matter of keeping every thing supported? need any specialist tools?
-
cheers mate, last time it was worked on i was warned the bushes were knackered, looks like it might be time to invest in some powerflex bushes!

my corrado has standard vr6 suspension which i know is getting tired but in the last few months i'm getting a loud 'clunk' from the front passenger side wheel area as i pull away, brake, or go over bumps at slow speed. there is no obvious play in any thing, but the car wanders really badly on uneven road surfaces. I thinks it's either suspension, a drive shaft, or possibly engine mount, (had solid alloy front mount fitted then clunking began fairly soon after) Any thoughts?? whats the best ways to check/ isolate problem? have tried every thing i can think of!!
