  1. no idea what mine has as it could be 1990 16v or vr6, i know the reservoir bottle definately isn't even from a rado!
  2. i've got to replace a hose on my power steering at the weekend. previously i've just drained the fluid and then put it back in after changing hose but this time it needs topping up, Can you mix different brands? (current fluid is pink- thats all i know...) its probably worth changing whole lot, so how do you drain whole system rather than just feed to the pump?
  3. I've replaced all of my system trying to sort out the long pedal travel problem, full goodridge braided lines, brand new VAG MC and vacum servo, 312 discs & calipers with less than 1000miles from new, etc etc. as mentioned above brakes stop perfectly but travel really doesn't inspire confidence!! i've realised that it's something i'm going to have to live with :(
  4. think i'll give it a go, it's something i've not done before and would like to know for the future. Thanks alot for the advice :salute: , will be spendng another oily weekend under the car shortly!
  5. excellent, you make it sound easy!! are there any important torque settings to go by or is it just a case of tightening the 6 drive shaft bolts as tight as possible?
  6. I see, mine started life as a 16v, so i expect the chimp the carried out the conversion has used the previous pump, just seemed a strange design, but as you say it's not under pressure. thanks for your help
  7. I've used the search with no success, i'm looking for a step by step guide to changing inner CV joints on a VR6. i need to know what tools are required, and best way to approach it- e.g. do you need to remove whole drive shaft for better access or can it be done lying under car? can anyone help?
  8. On the power steering pump on my vr6 the feed comes in through a right angled elbow (pictured). The strange thing is that the elbow can be turned in its hole and just pulls out of the pump (fairly tight but comes out by hand) there are no screws, bolts or fixing to hold it in place and if you pull it out there is an orange coloured rubber gasket. Is this normal??? doesn't seem very secure, not given me any problems yet but can only be a matter of time!
  9. found it!! http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30717
  10. I'm about to do mine tomorrow, have used the search but have been unable to find a guide yet, can anyone point us i the right direction?
  11. yep i did know what the ISV is, just not had any reason to think about it on the VR6 yet, i remember having trouble with it on my old 16v.
  12. sorry for my ignorance, i know i should know but........ Where is the ISV, what does it do? and what is the damper for if it can be removed? only asking as i don't recall anything with foam in it on my engine.
  13. Thanks alot thats all quite useful, is a awkward place to get at, but i'll pick up a new plug and have a go again on saturday, i'll update this thread as i get more info. is it possible to push the plug right through into engine? cheers
  14. yeah i would certainly check all hoses and joins throughly, and the joint on top of the rad, and replace expansion tank cap etc before getting too concerned, i would of thought with only 51k on the clock you'd be really unlucky to have head problems yet (although nothings impossible on a rado!).
  15. not seen a new unused plug yet, that may shed some light on the best way to approach it, will call mechanic tomorrow as well see if he can recommend any thing.
  16. not really got good enough access to get a drill to it with engine in situ, must be an easier way.....
  17. My vr6 has always got rattley when hot, i've changed the chain's/tensioners etc, the whole cylinder head inc VAG tappets ( ), the oil pump, only ever used syna silver oil and only VAG parts, literally many £k's spend, and still it sounds like a diesel when hot!! :brickwall: The performance and sound when it's not rattling makes it all worth while tho!!
  18. anybody know how to remove old core plug and replace?
  19. Any idea how to get old one out without getting bits in the engine tho??
  20. one of the last things i had replaced before i got p**sed off with wasting money on it and took it off the road, was the oil pump, so that may of blown the old tired plug. but how do you replace a core plug? please please don't tell me you need to 'cork' the hole from the inside!! becuse that would be typical corrado- having to spend fortune opening engine to replace 54 pence worth of plug!
  21. fantastic!!! what the best way to remove old one and fit new one?
  22. yeah, will do (my engine is sourced from a very strange place anyway - not sure where from, but not a uk corrado anyway!) Any idea how to remove & replace the other plugs-(such as gear box plug mentioned above)?
  23. whats ETKA? the computer programe with all the parts and locations? i'll try it tomorrow, my local dealer is rubbish tho- mention a corrado and they just look at you blankly!
  24. there appears to be some sort of plug in there already- hole is only a few mil deep, but there is no apparent threads or allen key holes to remove whats there......
  25. thanks for having a look, i really hope it is something as straight forward(?) as a plug need replacing. gone over rest of car and is gonna be fantasic when going again as nothing else too serious needs doing, so fingers crossed it'll be an easy fix! any one else got any ideas???
