 school boy error!!! just checked all the relays cleaned every relevant contact and..... hey presto! the beast sprang back to life!!! :D and the moral of todays adventures is not to jump to conclusions and presume the worst!! thanks again.
-
i'll certainly have a look at the relays, went for the sender first as it's what the AA man thought it was most likely to be and it was an easy job i could do myself. fingers crossed it is something that simple as things tend to get expensive quickly with the vr6's!! thanks for your help!

This morning my vr6 refused to start with no warning, turns over but no spark at all, AA man came and checked every thing and found i've got power to the coil pack and injectors but no switching signal. he said first thing to check is the crank case sender which i have now ordered and hope to recieve in next couple of days. anyone one else had similar problems? anything else i should be checking? if it's an ECU problem what's it likely to involve?? any ideas would be much appreciated!!

will brembo's 'gran turismo' big brake conversion fit a corrado vr6 on 17in wheels?? they do not make a kit specially for a 'rado, but they do a kit to fit a 2000 golf 1.8t and vr6, whats the differences likely to be between these models and a corrado vr6? the discs are two piece affairs with a diameter of around 312mm i think,

cheers guys :D , will look into replacing/ repairing the wires, MOT's not for a while so no great rush, just have to hope no one jumps out in front of me!!

i've tested the feed to both horns and there is no current to either when pressing horn or with ignition on/off.
-
yeah i've had that all apart and all seems ok, the fact that it's causing a 'click' elsewhere would also indicate that the buttons working?? my works van makes the same 'click' if you press the horn with the ignition turned off, and then works with the ignition on.
-
the horn doesn't work on my 'rado! i have changed both horns and tested them by connecting them direct to the battery and they work beautifully, but when i press the centre of the steering wheel all i get is a slight clicking from the direction of the fuse board, which leads me to think it's a dead relay, but which one??? any help would be much appriecated.

decent south coast garage for my vr6??
adamukcorrado replied to adamukcorrado's topic in Suppliers Forum
Thanks guys, garages in swanage are next to useless for more than an oil change!! loads of people have now recommended JMR so gonna give him a go, thanks Again. -
Hi, i have recently invested in a corrado vr6 and i need to get the timing chains/ guides etc done as they are noisy (noise comes and goes tho- is this usual??) i have spoken to stealth up in warickshire and they do a deal with new chains/ guides etc, new clutch and take head off to re-seat valves etc for £1400 which i'm fairly happy with as i know they know what they're doing, BUT i live on the south coast near bournemouth!! is there anyone that people can recommend for such major works on a vr6 that is nearer the south coast??
-
Ok thanks guys i'll get back on the case tomorrow, will be back if any prob's!

This is probably going to be glaringly obvious to those in the know, but how should i go about taking the front and back bumpers off my 1990 corrado??? i've had a look and can't see anything obvious and don't want to rely on brut force and ignorance for fear of damaging them!! any advice would be much appreciated, cheers guys, Adam

so whats the answer to making a 16v quicker then? is there anything that can be done realisitically? and what kind of results can be expected?? i've done the manifold/exaust and induction mods :?
-
brentacre certainly sound realisic, was bit concerned after some of the comedy quotes i'd had when i first got the 16v!! just got to raise the cash a find a tidy vr6 now then, thanks for your help :)

is looking like my much loved 1.8 16v has come to the end of it's life and as income is about to increase been toying with the idea of a vr6! always been with adrian flux as were sh*t loads cheaper than others (£800 instead of some quotes for £2500!!! ) i'm 24 with 3 or 4 years no claims haven't had any quotes yet (will let you know tomoz tho) heard elsewhere on forum about elephant only increasing quote by £35 between 16v & vr6???? any recomendations for vr6 insurance?? how do running costs compare with vr6's and valvers?

thats reasuring to know! whilst the engine is in bits is there anything to be gained by fitting a 50mm inlet manifold?? keep seeing them on ebay for not alot of money, is it just a straight swap?

Hi guys, just discovered this forum and hope you can help!! have owned and loved my 1990 1.8 16v for about 18 months, always been V'reliable and fast enough with mod's such as 4branch tsr manifold, exaust, k&n air filter etc etc past 6 months it has started using alot of oil and smoking (blue smoke) very badly at times (not consitantly tho) &leaks oil into spark plugs. still pulls ok and sounds fine but have mot in a month and not looking like it'll pass!! has done 150 000 miles. any ideas?? piston ring?? big job? 2nd hand engine cheaper? my budget is limited but feel if i'm gonna have to spend alot i would like to be upgrading things? any thoughts?
