I think people underestimate atmospherics. Mine felt awsome on a late trip home from work around 10 last night, i was just lapping it up! Felt really flat thismorning in the warm air.

Thats why we got a vento vr for the wife! They have mostly been owned by retired people who just wanted the top of the range! Not allways been mooly codled, but cleaned every sunday, low mileage and never abused. Plus they are a barg compared to the golf, were half the price a few yrs back but less obv now.......................We got a 97p with 40k 1 owner fully loaded for 3.5k nearly 3 yrs ago, now that was value!

Will be doing my chains eventually, not too bad just starting to chatter a bit. Thinking of waiting a bit longer and refreshing the head, although nothing wrong with it at present, if its all coming apart seems false economy to sort it. Basically whats a TSR Pack A head like? About £850 seems ok? Or better off buying a schrick!? More interested in torque and lonjeviteeee
-
Kev, what put you off the miltek? I understnad this isnt a moaning post, just opinions, im just interested in why you ditched it? Cheers Nick

I had 2 325i sport e30s for what its worth. Great fun in the wet, sounded nice and i allways prfered the older shape. However, both the heads on mine cracked between the 5th and 6th cylinders, lots of money both times and it put me off bms forever. Mate has a 97 p m3 evo saloon, fanastic car, but it didnt do it for me. Great everyday car, but id didnt feel like it had the low speed punch of the vr. Sounds mad 321bhp against 190, and on paper no comp, but i the vrs more of a mad adrenelin kinda gocart feel in comparison. Cant be the vr for small car build either................i could go on.......bias blah blah blah. Might change my mind when my timing chains make a snap sound instead of a whispy rattle though! Must get those done one day..

As everyone has clarified, G&S staff are very helpful, which i would agree 100% and i had used them for everything for years on my mk1s and 2s. Just feels like things have slipped since they started catering for more makes? Does Steve work for them, he's allways 100% sound on the advice front so may know if they have changed suppliers? I am willing to accept that i have just been very unlucky, but anymore and im going to cry and tell my mummy!

I've fitted the latest set myself! or is that what you meant !

Atn: G60 Corrado owners (don't know about the others)
NickVR6 replied to Tempest's topic in Engine Bay
I'm just glaf his mates got out of the back. They clearly did, looking at the ride height. Hang on a minute, mines even higher.......... Hate to see it though, it looked tidy. Off to check my hoses, well spotted Tempest. -
New set on again now and all is well so far, after a 200ml trip yesturday. mind you wheels are shaking so much dont think id notice anyway!!
-
My cat is original and the rest was fitted at a main dealer 6years ago and still going strong! I wont be replacing it until it falls off, but when it does it will be hard to justify anything other than VAG. If i do, reading most things on the site, it would be a miltek, NO QUESTION.. Mind you, vag are going down hill in my book.................. and if i told you some things that have gone on my fathers 1.8t gti after 17k it would make your hair curl, sorry, ill tell that story another time. Perhaps it will be a miltek, after what they did to my old man at the stealers.

Cheers Andy, will phone them first thing mate, have to meet up for a beer as i often go to the old barn farm pub which near ashley heath and near-ish you i think!? I've tried measuring everything but im going cross eyed now Kev! No real point of ref under the arch as everything is curved! one minute i think the wing is dif, then its not, then its the wheel then its not, im going round in circles! Trying to get it on flat ground too, in my garage the spirit level says the camber is the same both sides. One thing i have noticed is that i can get my hand in and fingers down the back between the tyres and strut cup on the sticky out side but not quite possible on the drivers side (and i have measured from disc to a ref point on the alloy, so i think they are both et 35 & both have same serial nos on the alloy cast). The cups on the two struts have a sticky out bit and are not a semetrical shape on the cup, but one side face one way and the other the other!? but they cant be wrong way round as the camber bolts are only on one side....arrrhh help me lord. Is there an easy way to tell late from early wings? Apolooogees for the novel!
-
What a long way, but it may be worth the trip. Any good b&bs round there! Someone must have been sad enough to stay up there? Did you see me at the inters henny!? Was walking up to your grey borbeted beastie on the sat, but you drove off just as i went to tap on your window!
-
Don't worry Kev, you won't scare me, i need to know whats up before i start spending money to make it how i want it, ie chains, bmc, vgi, konig sports, bbs splits......thats all a way off, but i cant get enthusiastic about anything until i put my mind at ease on this! If its bent it will go and ill get a better one. But the main reason i bought this one was because it was straight. Original inner wings valence, all the right stickers everywhere and wax leaking out everywhere, floor looks totally original etc. Plus i got fed up with looking at really bad ones, having done 2000 miles and looked at 20+ this was by far the best, if not show condition, its original or so i thought! ANY IDEA ANYWHERE I CAN TAKE IT FOR A GEOM TEST/SET UP?? I know of nowhere near me that i'd trust? Had camber done about 5 times on a modded mk2 and was never really happy with it, so i dont want to start that nonsense again. Id rather drive 2 hours to get it done right the first time and feel confident!
-
Glad its not just me then! Thanks guys. Other priorities such as engine mount etc first and finding out why one wheel sticks out more than the other! Then ill get shot of the disks and get some from vag i think. All this just gets a bit annoying when i drive 30 miles to get to G&S, 30 miles back, pay labour to have something fitted the go through it all again! I've a good mind to charge £200 for the trouble this time!
-
With 270 horses my friend i would think you could warp time, let alone disks!!!!
-
8. ooow, i forgot. Electric window switch, guess were from, anyway it lights up all the time even with the ignition off and the car alarmed! Euor car parts replacement works fine. No i dont work for them!
-
Just a rant, but i'm getting f....ed of with everything I buy for my car being sh.te! Had it 2 months and this is what i've bought........ 1. presure cap from GS, faulty. presure cap replaced by GS, faulty. third replacement from GS, in the bin 4th time lucky euro car parts..works hoo f ra! 2. set of 4 discs (zimmerman xdrilled) and pagid FR pads, obviously warped from the off. 5 min test drive, very careful but they were wobly as bo..ocks. Taken back, second set of same carefully run in for 200 mls, now on 450 mls and showing signs of warping again! 3. steering wheel and boss from the inters Vbits. boss doesnt have indicator cancelling and scrapes! 4. Mudflaps main dealer, asked for non generic set of 4. £22 sir and they are made for the corrado ONLY. Turns out they fit every car under the sun and the price was just for 2. Tried to fit them but they are wa.k! 5. Green air induction kit. Dont know what the bracket was for but had more chance fitting it to a space ship than a corrado vr, had to make my own! 6. buy that nasty hose for the heater matrix to head from vag. Its clearly split when i get it home without even touching it! Replaced. 7. (GS again) wife buys a set of 4 brembo discs and pads for her vento vr. Warped within 100 miles of very gentle braking. Second set now done 1000 and are starting to woble again! arrrrrrrhhhhhhhhh, anyone tell me where i can buy anything anymore that works for more than 5 f mins if at all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My garage reckon theres up to 1cm adjustment in the front suspension when fitting it--laterally? So it could be just that yeah? Please!?
-
I've just noticed that my passanger side front wheel sticks out about 1cm more than the drivers side! Initial panic, then hoping its susp or something?? Anyone seen this before? It could be camber and tracking as i swear the drivers side has more tow out meaning the top of the wheel is in more, and tracking wise it looks like the front of both wheels are further apart than the back, but in both instances im talking zilometers. Its hard to see with the naked eye. Looking under the car the passenger side wish bone looks like its got slightly more angle and drivers side is slightly flatter. Also the gap between the top of the tyre and arch is slightly greater on the passenger side. The car is totally straight from what i can tell, nothing looks like its been done to the bodywork underneith. Its all hard to tell parked on slight slope or what have you and by eye, but the wheel def sticks out slightly more on the near side. Any thoughts from all the above?? This is with my new 8x17s on. i never noticed with the speedlines. The ride seems to be getting harsher and i do have a wheel woble at 70--not balancing. Want to make sure its not fatal before i start throwing lots of money at the car!! ???????????????????
-
I have exactly the same problem! After fitting my 8x17s. Initially i thought it was me getting used to the harder tyre ride, but then thought no the sticky weights have flown off, allas not though. Had em re-ballanced and its still well bad, same speed as you. I've also just noticed that my pasenger side wheel sticks out more from the arch than the drivers side! Only 1 ish cm but a bit of a shock. However, my top mounts are original as is most for the gear on the car, so im thinking there could be a number of things causing mine. top mounts, camber, tracking, bushes. I swear one of the arms sits at slightly dif angles but its very hard to juj by eye. Having mine lasered so ill let you know

I have a mate who has just moved to holland, and also spends every other weekend in Germany. He also just bought a left hooker 95 dragon green vr in munic yesturday! I've put him on the case for these. Also, said he will seak out the best aftermarket places over there and send me back some brochures etc. Hes a vw nut so this will be a star contact point! Especially as he drives back once every 2 months to see his folks near me. I've just put him on to this site as he didnt knwo about it.
-
Think twisting to get it to click means you dont have to push so hard! Just tricky as i didnt want to scratch loads of metal bits off to go into the chambers on the next plug change! Getting there, but have confussed the firing order now through getting stressed with this! must be on the website somewhere though or in the user manual!? Getting less than impressed with G&S these days though. Im on my 3rd set of zimmer self warp disc in as many months. My wife put brembos from G&S on hers and they were warped before BADLY from new!! I used to love them but since they have become G&S&F&I&............whatever, the quality seems to be going off. I hate dissing anyone though so I will stick with it and the guys are v helpful when i keep going back!
-
Its not because G&S have sold me plug leads that are...................less than perfect is it?
-
Hi Karmannvr6, if i push it on hard enough to get the clikc the spanner opens slightly and goes over the sticky out bits on the plug! Or it works fine but the spanner is wedged in and if i twist it just brings the plug out stuck in the tool!
