The recent increse in shareholding came a long time after the decision to make the R8, and although Porsche own this bigger stake. They dont want to stifle the other companies, Just cream off the profits. Although the worlds motoring press are falling over themselves to get an R8 for an extended test drive does not mean that this car will be a permanant success, we have yet to see how the vehicles hold up to daily use. In addition to that when they do get a big engine in the car, the dynamics that seem to make it so crisp will be ruined by a fat lump engine. As for the looks thing, Im with you kev. It is an attempt to be different, and followers of fashion ultimately end up being fashion victims.

Lucky guy, They have a certian new car cool about them. I just hope the looks dont go the way of the new Honda civic. ie, outlandish when you first see it, but wears off fairly soon. IMHO Audi made a mistake not releasing the bigger engine one first, but Id still take a 997 in a heartbeat over the R8.

Hey Matey, I mnaged to source a wing in aqua bloo, but it has a nasty scratch on it. Toad has agreed to fit it with me some point in August and then I can make a decision about a wing,bonnet,bumper blowover.

Zippy sits on my parcel shelf, He makes me chuckle and I like looking at peoples reaction to him when the spoiler goes down and Zippy is staring at them. :D

WOOOO HOOOOOOOOO! Ive just had an aqua blue wing delivered, a scrapyard search engine on Tinternet found one for £68 delivered! Toad has agreed to gimme a hand fitting. Should be back where I was before the incident.

Crack Pipe?

I seem to have the same problem, Ive got a new pollybelt and water pump, and a mate on hand to do the tough bits like jacking up the engine, but is there anything else I need to know before we embark on it? anything else worth replacing?

Does anyone know where I can get a new one of these, Mine is now only working on 3 and 4, and having worked out it is only a 5 min fix, I would quite like a new one. Do GSF or VAG still sell them?

Cheers Dave, Its a Sh1tter alright. However I must say thanks to NickRStorm who came up with a minty Headlight. This forum is an invaluable meeting ground for thoroughly bloody nice people. Onwards and upwards, Time to get a quote on bashing out the wing and getting a bit of a front end spray.

Fresh Clips some new lube and all is sorted, they feel solid in their place and slide like new now. Thanks :D

Steve, When you are re fitting the seat, how do you stop the door side clip from jamming against the floor runner and sliding off as you slide the seat forward? Mine just seems to be impossible to guide into the rails.

Fitted new seats the other week, and now the drivers seat has decided to play up. on agressive corners the outside runner (door side) comes clear out of the runner. :shock: I think it must have something to do with the plastic cover that is now on its own in the runner. Ive tried to clip it back to the seat and slide the seat back in place but it doesnt want to stay in place. Ive tried grease, Supergluing the clip in place and brut force, nothing works. The only thing I can think of is that the seat base was an early one despite the car being a VR and the new seats are a milimeters narrower. any ideas?

Hmm Probably shouldn't of said that. Drunken posting again! Official sources from Porsche have been quoted as saying " Porsche have not oficially announced such a model, and anything to the contrary is purely press speculation".

Things are looking up. Cheers people, I have cleaned up the damage and put some film over the exposed lamp. Dom, I possibly have one coming, although if it is also tatty reflectors can I take you up on that, But I cant take it for free, atleast let me get you a few Vodka and Irn Bru's :D A friend who took a closer look reckons it can be tapped out, and maybe a touch of filler but it gives me a great excuse for a front end respray :D and even if it is in need of replacement I found a breakers online who reckon they have one for a ton delivered in dragon green Also the headlamp was pushed back but the plastic gave way before the metal broke so it all should bend back in shape, and the slam pannel is almost unafffected. Could have been worse. Teach me to listen to Nosebleed Techno on the way to work I spose. 8)

Cheers Fay, I had a chat with Ian in bodyshop. He was supportive but thought that the car would definately need a new wing. Cheers Tom. Looking at the headlight. I reckon it is a whole unit also. Really concerned about putting it the insurance route. Ive got a grand to spend if need be, but I would want to overspray the bonnet and bumper with that if I sand it and do the prep work.

Cheers, Jimmi. Fraid the bodyshop at work has diagnosed a new wing. It may well be if I go insurance route then they see it diferently. Ive sent out a PM to Bigpants and someone on Ebay. Anyone know of an offside wing? I can get it painted but having troubs sourcing one outside VW, as they want 240 + VAT It seems Im going to have to take the insurance gamble unless I get lucky. any good sugestions what I can cover the light with and stop the inevitable rust setting into the exposed edges?
