Right then, The engine needs a bit of TLC and a major service, my guy has said I should get the parts needed. Im just wondering if I have got all the things I need on my list and as ever bow down to the knowledge harnessed in the engine bay forum. Please let me know if there is anything Ive missed out. Plugs, 6 NGK Platinum Oil, 6 litres of Synta Silver Oil filter ? Whatever GSF recomend ? Air filter. None needed although the K&N could do with a clean. HT Leads, Beru ones? for a Dizzy VR. Other things needed. carb cleaner for the ISV Front Mount, Standard VAG one, (Not fussed with solid mounts). anything else I will need?

Corrado VR6 complete - Break it or ebay it ???
ZippyVR6 replied to swindon-corrado's topic in General Car Chat
I would guess the problem with breaking a car for spares is that the bits everyone want will go really quickly but then you are left with the rest, taking up space and waiting for someone with the same paint as you to have a bump. Depends how fast you need the cash. -
Wounded, Feel for you Rob. Hope you can manage to sort it out without to much trouble.

Welcome to the forum, the search is your frend, Asking about corrados on a corrado forum is a bit like speaking to alcaholics at an AA met. A little one sided.

Welcome to the forum 2.5 years? flat battery, perished tyres, the oil will have drained completly back into the sump and could do with a change, check the coolant pipes for leaks, any fuel left in th etank will be well past its best. It wil probably fire ok but with much less punch than before. Hope that helps, and best of luck.

Yeah there was no resistance. Looks like me and my clowncar  will be leaving it in gear for the next few days

Many thanks all. Ill get it greased up in the interim and park in gear for the cold snap. With regards the Mk4 set, is it a complete swap front and back? and does it require larger discs pads?

As I reversed of the drive this morning the car felt a little sluggish. :( The handbrake was frozen and jammed in place. I left the car to idle for about 10 mins or so hoping the heat from the exhaust and whatnot would melt the frozen cable. I was going to be late for work so I thought sod it and drove off slowly, hoping the heat from the brakes would loosen up the ice. However 5 miles into my journey it was still smelling a bit warm and hadnt released. It eventually pinged back on the motorway and was nice and cool when I arived at work, dispite the burning brake smell that hung around the car. What sort of damage could this have done? and how can I prevent it happening again, short of just leaving the car in gear.

When Scarlet had Jims old Valver with the KR Cam, we had a bit of a jolly back down the private section of the M3 after No-Rice, My GPS was reading 134 and she side by side with me and GradeAfailure, a Rolling Rado Roadblock. So Im sure you can get some good speed out of a valver, but 160? lets see the vid dude. -

the rolling raius does increase with bigger wheels eg 205/50/15 has a smaller circumference than 205/40/17 That is correct, but as you up the diameter of the wheel, the depth of the tyre reduces to keep the same roling radius. it also depends on the stretch, Either way, the difference wont account for a car suddenly doing 30 mph more than its book speed. -

Even though you have 17's on the roling radius shouldn't have changed. Just the tyres getting thinner. Was the video taken from a side on angle? that could look like the needle is further around than it actually was. -
I took a bunny rabbit's head clean off with my fester years ago. The girlfiend at the time freaked when I arived to pick her up after negotiating some fun twistys, and there was a mangled mess on the lower bumper.

Once the thermostadt opens up the pump is running the water through the system continually, this is what is causing the water to bubble over. It is a great way of releasing any airlocks in the system.

Its the best, Being able to see in wet motorway conditions is worth more than a full tank of fuel and a greasy Petrol station sandwich. Do it, and see the future!

Thanks for the top tip. I got a set of replacement blades from Helfrauds today. Snip snip, woosh woosh. No more juddering.
