  1. GSF sell Fuchs, 10-40W is teh stuff for VRs Aparrently it is the stuff that VW fill the new cars with these days. Ive used it the last 2 services in mine and it seems ok. about 20 quid a 5litre drum.
  2. Ive seen your car, everything you have fabricated looks OEM. I know I just dont have the skills to polymorph, or fettle. It will just end up looking like a 3 year old has abandoned some play-doh on the car. If it aint simple, I just know I will end up spending the money on a new fan.
  3. 85p for the fuse, Bought 2 today just incase I fudged the first. Cool Ill get a blower from the dealers then. I would still be interested to know if anyone has reconditioned teh blower motor with new brushes and bearings.
  4. Thanks, really? including a new thermal fuse ?
  5. Hmm, similar problem with mine, Fitted new thermal fuse today and the heater worked ok outside of the heater box. But once fitted it goes back to its old routine of working for 5 mins then nothing. just some noise. I suspect the bearings are on their way out as the fan seems resistent to hand spinning. So this could be why it works for a while then nowt. Is there a guide anywhere on changing the bearings on the motor? Ive searched but am pulling blanks.
  6. Sorry, Hungover. sand, The bulb delivers a very direct light, Sanding it diffuses the light.
  7. White wont work as well as you reckon buddy. I have the blue set and they are ok. You need to snad the bulbs to dispurse the light a little, but if you want white, check out Blue_joe's profile. He had a set of Uv ones and painted the needles to glow white, Looked the cats bananas.
  8. Check the condition of the battery. Mine was intermittantly rubbish just prior to the battery going down.

  15. since I discovered it 10 or so years ago I have never been without a bottle in the garage. The stuff is like magic.
  16. Jim. I had somehting similar a year or so ago. A week after fixing something internal I developed a starting fault. I got GradeAfailure over and we scratched our heads. Swapped ignition switch and thought about the starter motor when It occured to me. When I had been working on the inside of the car I left the interior light on and drained the battery. after an overnight charge all was fixed. Im sure you are not as much of a dullard as me but Its worth checking.
  17. You need new cables mate. They connect to the flap behind the centre console that directs the airflow. The reason why the cogs break apart and skip teeth is because there is a break in the cable further down. This means they are too stiff for the plastic cogs to move the cable. Sod of a job but worth it in the long run.
