  1. AAAAARRRrrrrrrrrrrrrr........ My neighbour has just reversed into my new 'PARKED' VR! :bad-words: :censored:    :2gunfire: :onfire: Massive scrape/dints down the front bumper and arch! PI$$ED!! How did she manage that? :mad2:
  2. Yea thats it, can only manage to pop one side of the bonnet. ie. the inner cable part. Do you need to push the outer part while pulling the inner cable to pop both sides? Had just put back the front end too after replacing my Rad! :bad-words:
  3. :censored: why didnt they.....blablabla. Oh well, cheers for that mate! Looks like the next thing on the list.
  4. Rad finally sorted...more on that later. I now have a bonnet issue as I carn’t open it?! :mad2: 1 thing after the next. The thin S bracket that is located just after the bonnet pull handle has now snapped and I cannot open the bonnet. I have done a search on here and read about popping the bonnet by hooking the catches from the grill area, so this is not the problem [have not tried it yet however]. I want to know how one gets the S bracket off? So I can put a new one on. Does the whole mechanism need taking out or can this be done in the footwell? Here is a pic I have found on the forum, but of the same part. Hi mate here is a pic of the S bracket, seems all okay – PM SENT
  5. Fiddley :censored:ER isnt it! Will have to do it all over again this wknd  Oh well, practice makes perfect n all that. Going to try and funnel it down into a tub me thinks, stop it pi**ing all over the place...hopefully.
  6. My cheapo rad has now been sent back on the warrenty and a PROPER VW one is on its way!! Should have just bought it in the 1st place... Oh well, lesson learnt! Ps. does anyone have a tried & tested way to catch the 2 bottles of new G12++ I have just put in so I can reuse it?!
  7. just got off the phone to them and said i'd like to exchange it for an original rad [+ extra monies] and the guy is going to call me back. Fingers crossed!
  8. Alright alright....dont rub it in!! I have already emailed volks apart for a refund, nothing back from them yet. Another 50 quid & i could have had an original........ :bad-words: Am going to get my dolla back and buy what i should have in the first place!! They did say it came with a 12 month warrenty!!
  9. Why did I not think of that??... No its not an original [wishing I had now!] I brought it from Volks-Apart & thought it would be of a certain quality coming from them?! Was a bit suspicious about it as the box it arrived in had a Euro car parts sticker on it???? Im going to get a new rad neck from VW also. Cheers!
  10. Ok...I have taken the 90 degree pipe out and has cracked around the sealing lip area, Will need to get new one from VW tomorrow. Fingers crossed they have one in stock. Also...does anyone think this justifies a return?...Circled in the pic is the thread that has come loose & i am now struggling to get the bolt off! :? As well as this, the large rubber coolant pipe that attaches to the bottom of the rad [under the temp gauge] seemed too big for the rad? A sausage & an alley way spring to mind. When removing the old [original] rad it was a very tight fit. Is this normal when using non original VW parts & will it be ok [water tight] once tightened with the jubilee clip? Cheers
  11. Thanks....It does have that seal in, may be best if i buy a new one. The metal thread in the rad came loose and actually poped out!? So would seem its not tightening properly....Do you think it could be glued back in?? and if so what would be best to use? Ta.
  12. I'm in need of some help please!!.............been changing my RAD on my VR all weekend...... :brickwall: I have got the new one on, filled with G12++ and it has sprung a leak :mad2: :mad2: In the pic below the green arrows show the seal where it seems to be leaking from.....should I have replaced a washer/seal thing there?? The Rad was from Volks-apart and did not seem to be the best fit....the bolt that the blue arrow is pointing too seemed to loosen the gold thread inside the rad when tightening & it seems its not made a proper seal....I dont know what to do :? feel like giving up and passing over to my garage but carnt drive it anywhere???...If i take it all off i'll loose 2 bottles of G12. Can anyone on here pls advise/had this problem before?? Thanks oli
  13. I know this is an old thread but didn't want to start a new one....I have just brought 2 x front wheel bearings from Volks-apart for my VR & the 2 boxes have different bits in them?? :? Ive not even seen a bearing before so am a little unsure if what I have is correct. Can someone enlighten me pls. BOX 1 = 1 x bearing 1 x black springy washer thing BOX 2 = 1 x bearing 2 x black springy washer thing 1 x gold round nut with cog type part to it 1 x counter sunk screw with philips head Sorry for no pics, but the missus has gone out with the camera. Oh & box 1 says on it wheel bearings & box 2 says wheel bearing kit......dont know if this has any relevants? Any help would be much appriciated!! Ta!
  14. Is a pritty straight forward job, took an evening after work. Proper chuffed with it! I would double check that the paint around that area looks good/not been badly touched up etc. , as may damage it more or uncover some nasties :nono: My new rad arrived today so will be swopping them over tomos!!! Did my 16v not so long ago and seemed easy enough.....the VRs' does look a tad more cramped however?......... :?
  15. Ok…decided to have a go at removing the bump strips from my VR!..... Products used: Some Auto Glym intense tar remover. Warm soapy h2o. Trusty HMV voucher card [nil pennies on it!]. Kitchen roll/cloths 1 bottle of beer I managed to get the drivers side off with ease & the paintwork looks spot on underneath. However when I started the passenger side, the strip stuck on the door was a lot harder to remove. Whoever had stuck it on had used some sort of silicone/hard-rubbery adhesive. It is just taking a while to get off and was slowly hospitalising my fingers one by one! Luckily, it is not damaging the paintwork!! I will have to finish it off tonight me thinks! Overall, I think it looks loads better!
  16. I dropped the C off on Wed night, to collect on Fri as was at a wedding [Hindu, non alcoholic! ] all day. Got a call from him about 3 or 4pm saying it was ready to collect. Dont know if he worked on her all the time but he turned his nose up when I said some fitters have quoted me 2 & 1/2 hrs for a CAT 1 install!!
  17. I now have my Clifford CAT1 fitted by Marcus from AWESOME ACOUSTICS [i think he calls him self AWESOME ALARMS now, website just been launched] www.awesomealarms.co.uk His details on Cliffords website are: AWESOME ACOUSTICS THE ARCHES 52-53 FOLDS ROAD BOLTON BL1 2TW Phone: 07792 217 892 I highly recommend him! Has done a cracking job and he devinatly knows what he is talking about. Top bloke too! :salute:
  18. Yes.....me too! DeLorean it's not! I picked up my best mate & his GF from the train station last weekend in my new VR :D and his misuss thought it was a Transformer!!   Amused me!
  19. Ok...finally managed to sort out & decide what alarm to go for! Very nearly had a TOAD cat 1 put one, however the fitter cancelled on me the night before the fit & said it would be two weeks [due to not having the alarm in stock. Would have thought he'd have known this when I booked it the week before  ]?!..... so tracked down a very helpful Clifford fitter in Bolton. Gone for the G5 650 MK2, and will be picking her up tomos!! Carnt wait! :D I will however have to punch in a code every time i start the VR or open door/boot with engine ticking over, other wise it will shut down the car!.......lets hope I dont forget!!
  20. Spotted a very nice looking burgundy [i think] Corrado on the A666 on my way to Bolton last evening around 6.30pm to get an alarm fitted. Could not quite focus on the badge, as my rear view had blurred it out due to it vibrating. But was lowered on some rims, nice stainless & tinted top half rears. I was in my [standard….for now] Red VR. He very kindly let me pull out in front as we exchanged plenty of waves & flashes! Nice C mate!! 8) Anyone on here? :salute:
  21. No way too, me & the missus did pritty much the same thing!! 8) Padstow, along the coast stopping off at various places ending up in Carlyon Bay, Nr St Austell. Tenting it, but were in the Passssat (could not fit all my missus kit in the VR) :( . Seafood rest is dam good too!!!! :D
