My heated passenger seat has stopped working, I can hear a click from the relay when I turn the drivers one on but not from the passenger side, is it likely to be the relay that's at fault or the switch on the dash? I assume that it's not the seat element as the relay isn't clicking? cheers.

I'm pretty sure that I read on the vortex that the orange/red needles that come as standard on the VR glow under uv light anyway so they wouldn't need painting. Here's the thread: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1039668 scroll down to Zarmanns post, no paint just UV light.

My Kenwood did that twice so I chucked it in the bin and bought a Sony CDX-mp70. Sounds lovely and it's got a nice slidey out draw that lights up at night :D

Well, I'm halfway there, got the shift surround, pedals and millenium wheel. I want to do the dead pedal but they're kinda pricey for what they are. The handles are TT and I think that Zarmann had to move them to that position

I think that's because the dials are American and it's unlikely that you would be going anywhere that measures in kph from the states, however in the UK there'e every chance that you might take a trip to the continent where those kph markings might come in very handy, I say keep em stock. My 2p.

I'm with you there Andi, Parkway are dreadful. I took the C there a couple of weeks after I bought it, cost me a fortune for an incorrectly diagnosed fault and they broke the fascia of my CD player. Only time I ever visit now is to go to the parts department. I use Sunset VW in town, it's not far from where I live, labour's reasonable and they've been really good with the car.

sorry to piggyback this but I have a laserline 996 and occasionally when I lock the car it gives 3 (I think) short beeps at 10 second intervals and after a minute the alarm goes off, I can't find anything about this alarm code in the manual and I can't find a dealership in Derby that services them anymore, Halfords used to but no longer. Help?

Mille miglias porsche cups aren't too expensive, don't think I paid more than £600 including a set of 215/40/17 SP9000's.

I had the crank speed sensor replaced last week and I'm happy to report that all seems to be well and good, I've had no idleing problems and no stalling since so, touch wood, that should be that :)
-
I'm still in. I still think the UV light idea is sound and seems to work well on the pics I've seen.

Thanks v.much for the info Kev. I'll pass this on to the mechanic, should be of some help to him. Sounds like I'm probably going to have to add £140 to the £600 I spent last month  hey ho, she's worth it.
-
Del, apparently bump starting like that is not such a good idea as it can stretch the timing chain(?) which I presume could be expensive :(
-
Kev, is the crank sensor and the engine speed sensor the same thing? If so then this could also explain why my car takes a while to start sometimes, the battery is fine and the only other thing I could think of checking was the starter motor. Also whereabouts is the engine speed sensor in the engine bay? The guy at the garage wants to clean it before he orders a new one as the part is so expensive.
-
Unfortunately the problem became unignorable(?!) yesterday, but I was pleased that the fault instantly popped up on the VAGcom. I'm getting the sensor replaced tomorrow, so I'll post in a few days time to let you know the results. Gives you the opportunity to practice heel throttle blipping anyway :)

See huge post about Lupo gti wipers, best mod money can buy.

The car hadn't cut out again since I started this thread but this morning it stalled 4 times on the way to work so I popped in to my local specialists at dinner (sunset VW in Derby, I highly recomend them if anyone is looking for a good garage in the area). They popped the scanner on it and, hey presto, engine speed sensor fault, which is what Kev mentioned in his post above, so case solved, touch wood :D

Bit off topic: Henny I notice that your gaiter is hanging loose around the base of your gearknob, not sure if you're fussed but a good solution for this is to push the metal ring down, gather the leather above it and cable tie it from the inside up against the gear knob. Not sure if that makes any sense but when I had a leather gaiter the ring would clink against the shaft and piss me off. I tried to make that sound as innocent as possible, not sure I pulled it off.....

Heh, maybe I ought to set up a post about this, I've had quite a few enquiries about it. If you go to http://www.corrado-club.ca tech/modifications section then all will become clear. It is a TT one and there's a full guide to doing the mod there. I did mine a little differently as I wanted it to make the mod reversible. Read the guide and then PM if you're interested.

I bought some sill strips from Volksbits and was really disappointed to recieve 2 bit of flimsy metal about an inch wide. Can anyone point me in the direction of some more substantial ones?
-
Hmm, I've done a search on the forum and it seems to be not only a common problem but one without a surefire solution :(
-
I'll have a mooch for this ISV thing then, ta very much. I'd like to get it sorted as the thought of the steering and brakes dying on a fast corner don't fill me with joy

The engine cut out last night as I pulled up to a roundabout, no spluttering or anything, the revs dropped and it cut out. It started straight away but when I dipped the clutch I notice that the revs seem to drop quite low and then rise again, don't know if this has anything to do with it? Any thoughts as to what this might be? Cheers.

I have 2 round buttons marked norm and max located under the fog light and screen demister buttons. Same style buttons, don't know what should go there normally? I think the fitters had to bodge a bracket together though cause they don't sit perfectly if you really examine them.

Reckon I must hold the record for the longest wait for lupo wipers, ordered in March and arrived middle of october. 6 and a half months, that's some service.
