  1. Just increasing the bore size from 2.5 to 3 inches would increase the sectional area of the pipe by 42% 2 inch to 3 increases the area by 120% odd. So a fair increase in flow... You'll probably see a bit of an increse in power too, well it'd be nice anyway...
  2. Wack harder.... That's my bet. Try leaving some WD 40 to soak into the splines overnight, that'd help.
  3. I think I'd try increasing the bore of the exhaust system. and the first silencer. A greater volume might not get so hot.
  4. Could you make a bracket up for it on the bottom of the bumper? You'll have to drill a couple of holes still, but noone would see them when you took the bracket off for shows etc....
  5. Yeah, I am too now, hopefully this summer I'll have a bit more time for doing stuff like that, and i'll be able to bring the paintwork back up to scratch. It kinda makes me sad when I think how smart my car was 2 years ago when I got it, and what it's like now, with random scratches and chips all over it. I took the wax chip stick off an old turtle wax bottle to some of the chips when I waxed it at the weekend, which has made it a fair bit better, but theres still plenty of marks. The interior is pretty bad too, the one black cloth seat and the rest of the grey interior don't help really, but i suppose it could be far worse.... It is a daily driver after all, and I used to work on farms and get in it covered in sh!te, so it's survived pretty well
  6. Haha, fair enough... I wonder how many police know the law on German style plates? I know that they haven't a clue on firearms laws. Anyway, didn't he ask why you were in Doncaster and not filming for I'm a celebrity with Duncan?
  7. Have you got to stick the plate back on the front and have it inspected then?
  8. :D Cool, I'll bear that in mind then. Thanks once again.
  9. Saying that reminded me i nearly had the same thing happen in my old 16v Rado a while back. I'd had 4 new tyres fitted at Micheldever Tyres. After getting back (a 15mile journey including some motorway driving) i noticed the nearside front centre cap was missing. I thought it may have just fallen off, but it wasn't until i next drove the car that i heard the knocking and the penny dropped... They'd forgotten to torque up the bolts on that wheel, and my centre cap was probably still sat on their forecourt! Bit scary when you think back  I just put it down to a one off because they are normally very good... Steve I'm not so sure about Micheldever Tyres these days. they tried to stitch my mother up with an agricultural implement wheel last year, and I hear they're not so cheap any more. Trouble is I need a bit of Laser alignment in the near future and don't know where else to go.
  10. I'm 26 and one half, roughly.... I've owned.... Honda CR80 schoolboy scrambler Mini 1000 Subaru Estate with 'special sunroof' for rabbit shooting Subaru Pickup x2 Then I passed my test in 1997 and have owned 1997-1999 1977 Fiesta 1.1L, blue with black vynal roof 1999-2004 L reg Maestro 2L Turbo Diesel, Red 2004 to present 1991 Corrado 1.8 16v, Aqua blue pearl 2005 to present 1991 Corrado 1.8 16v, Red and Mossy-Non runner.
  11. Out of interest, as it's going to be a long time until I can work over the car properly again, but what should you do when wanting to go back to the very beginning of the routine after the car has been waxed? There's a few blemishes on mine, and I'd like to clay bar and scratch X it when spring comes round again, but I don't see the point if there's a layer of wax and polish all over the car. Should I run over it with Megs paint cleaner first?
  12. Mine was stuck when I first got it, and it the wire in the control cable had kinked at the end and just bent over when the slide was operated. I have noticed that I need to switch the fan off to make some adjustments to the airflow direction DanVW I phoned your local dealer for a wheel bearing a little while back, and the nipper on the phone sounded so dopey I was surprised he even remembered to breathe!
  13. I dunno..... That's why I had a question mark at the end. :D I can't see it would work, but I could always be wrong.
  14. Oh yeah... Ought to learn to read properly.... The windows thing does ring a bell now, but that's about it.
  15. Isn't it something to do with the vacuum central locking system VW use? Edit; Is that a bit more ambiguous?

    topping up coolant

If you want to get that part out, let the car get pretty warm and undo the cap slowly, the built up pressure will force the broken part out.
  17. My mate had a rather sheepish nipper knocking on his door one day asking for a bit of help. He was trying to win his Ex back by fitting some alloys to her mini, unfortunately the stud pattern was wrong, so he drilled 4 new holes! Not long after one had fallen off outside my mates house!!!
  18. Our mate got overtaken by his cattle trailer wheel overtaking him where the bearings had failed. Luckily it was double axled and he had just unloaded and was heading home, managed to get from taunton to winchester on three wheels just fine.

I think the three wires should be earth, trigger wire to the ignition and feed to the rev counter. but I could be wrong.
  20. I've got a bit too much brake bias to the rear, and the back will come round if braking heavily into a tight corner. To be honest it's not worried me too much yet, coming off the brakes and back on the throttle brings it all back in line again.

Check the plug and the three wires running to the distributor. check the coil too, that could have broken down. I suppose it could be the immobiliser, if that's hooked up to the coil.
  22. What do you mean by 'canned up'? If you're suggesting a couple of cheeky beers, then I'm not really sure..... chances are it'll p!ss you off to the stage you want to set fire to it anyway (or at least mine did) and beer will probably get the petrol and the matches for you.... Leave a bit longer than the book says for doing the work.... Mine took nearly a month!!!!!!!!!!! But it did have additional complications..
  23. Buying a "headset" will have all the gaskets and bolts you want.... make sure you specify it's for a corrado, as the intake mani gasket might be different for the 42mm runners. There are 4 large and 4 small injector seals. new ones are awkward to fit. Might need to replace the complete plastic water flanges. Mine were wanky.
  24. Well, there's only really 3 on the list as far as I see.... I think I've seen all the adverts for them too. The corrado VR6, you know what you're looking at.... You've had corrados already. The Scirroco sounds like a lot of fun... lightweight, quick probably not a million miles from the corrado.... I know it'll be quicker etc, but it won't be as good as the corrado for daily driving. The passat is great... You know my views on it already.... But it is very different to the other 2. Go for it anyway..... Why don't you pop down and look at the Passat one weekend (assuming its ok with the seller), nice little break for yourself and the Mrs?
