  1. Me too Paul, I'm talking Shawshank into coming down as well, his G60 is looking brill with the new wheels on, then if I break down I'll have a lift/tow
  2. in one piece again 002.JPG[/attachment:wft64pnb] I could use it as a centre piece if its not right this time
  3. Pete, thanks mate, hope you getting sorted, I have pm'd you on the bits  til 1243, just allow twice as much time and money as you think you need and you will be half way there  and dont strip the bottom end unless you really have to :nono: leon, I bet there is a market for a kit but I did it the hard way, a few stainless and some replated, but should have spent more time preppin the bolts before sending to the platers, you live and learn! The unit is nearly ready for installation, just waiting for a few more bits for the bay while I have easy access!in one piece again 004.JPG[/attachment:2mqxtr7w]
  4. Looking good Jim, have you protected the sandblasting with WD40 yet? Stops it staining so easy and prevents oxidisation!
  5. Thanks Jim, its been a nightmare. I think the moral of the story is leave well alone or do it yourself! :bad-words: Toad, if you mean the plastic guide rail it simply slides off sideways to the right after removing the end section. Thanks for the comments, sand blast and WD 40!
  6. Just need to change the two oilseals on the input shaft before bolting the gearbox back onlatest rebuild 006.JPG[/attachment:vjyso6le]
  7. It is basically back in one piece again, fingers crossed it 'll be sorted this time2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdflatest rebuild 003.JPG2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf
  8. Thought I ought to update this thread now I have my engine back 'AGAIN' I had the unit stripped right down again because of faults which became all too obvious when trying to set it up after the first install. According to the Trade and Supply of goods Act and against my own judgement I had to allow the rebuilders to put it right. I left the Bentley manual with them for the settings this time. In fairness it turns over by hand alot easier than it did last time, however I haven't fired it up as yet as there are still some minor issues that need sorting before installing and firing up. Whilst waiting for my re-rebuilt lump to be returned [36 days] I have done a little more sand blasting and tidying andbead blast 001.JPG[/attachment:7dqxpgso]
  9. That looks so much better Judith, rear axle, subframe and crossmember next? the shiney stuff becomes addictive
  10. I noticed today while examining my newly rebuilt Vr6 engine [the second time its been rebuilt] that my inlet valves are magnetic but the exhaust valves are not. I know the exhaust valves run hotter but I am suprised that they are made of a different material, is this normal or do I have odd valves :confused4:
  11. :notworthy: I did exactly the same, trouble is my engine had to come out again :bad-words: So whilst waiting for the relaunch have sand blasted some more bits, including the gearbox

I think he has run off with the girls in his signiture piccy
  13. Looking good, you going to paint the sump up when the engine is back in? :D
  14. Thought Corrado ownership was expensive in the UK, the tax over there is extortion and dealer prices a rip off, you definately need a cheaper source for parts
  15. Not a five minute job but not too serious. Remove front bumper- 4 bolts through to chassis, disconnect lights etc. arch liners removed, splitter bracket removed remove slam panel- self explanatory when you get to it. Remove radiator- disconnect power steering cooling pipe fastened to cross member Prop up the engine for removal of front engine mount Remove cross member and replace with new one Basically covers it, sounds easy enough, good luck :D
  16. Nice to see this, will watch your progress with interest. Will be well worth the effort and cost when its done, you have a stunningly pretty car, and very special as well with having factory fitted airbags :notworthy:
  17. Should be available, part no. 191 199 233, if not try febi, they make replacements
  18. Rather than posting again the pictures are on my members gallery, if you scroll through 'Restoration project K931 RBV' Its due for an update having dropped the motor to have a few issues sorted, hoping to have it back shortly  but probably on page three or four by now!! Here is an after shot anyway :Dunderseal engine 005.JPG[/attachment:hme76q63]
  19. I didnt dare sandblast the engine, I used wire brushes on the drill, was worried about sand getting places it shouldn't. All ancillaries were removed and then sand blasted and bead blasted in a cabinet before finishing with WD40. Used acid etch primer on the block then a coat of satin black, but to be fair I haven't covered more than 25miles so haven't tested the durability yet. It would be sensible to have alternator/starter motor/ injectors etc serviced while they are off, rebuild with new stainless nuts and bolts etc, good luck :D
  20. Now that is what I call a project :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
  21. Gave up reading newspapers years ago :bad-words: ooh, thats a good one for the 'What gets your arse, vent your spleen here' thread in off topic chat. Just read through it all and nearly fell off the chair laughing, dont need to moan about anything now
  22. Dont think the new gas is compatible with the old type of seals, it should be a clear gas in this one. Ideally get a specialist in to drain and flush and refill the system, or if its working just leave it alone! Bacon and sunshine are carcinogenic :norty:
  23. It sounds simple doesn't it  you will have hours of fun and swearing, but the sense of satisfaction when its done is brill. I just can't decide when its finally done, cant seem to stop, its like an addiction
  24. Wont help the atmosphere much if there is anything in it, should get it vacuumed out! but as long as you dont come in contact with it will be no problem!
  25. Well done, what you planning, sand/bead blasting brackets and air intake, engine paint etc.? Edit, just read the post, already explained. My advice would be to leave the bottom end alone if it seems ok, after 105,000 miles mine didnt need rebuilding but having stripped it did it anyway. Just do the chains, clutch and pehaps head rebuild somewhere reputable!
