cheers for that, the slam panel i've got is off a 92 g60 but apparently they cant get it to fit. looks like i'll have to search for a vr one!
-
just spoke to a lad who reckons any late model slam panel should fit as its just where the bonnet catch fits thats different but does any know for certain?
-
had a front end smash in my vr & managed to source all the bits but my garage has just rang to say the slam panel doesn't fit. i guess it must be off an earlier model but is there a slam panel that only fits a vr6 or will one off a late g60 or 2l 16v fit? cheers

well after 5 weeks of total hassle trying to get this all sorted my car has finally been looked at by the assessor & it's sounding very promising! one of the lads at the garage where it's been stored told him i wanted the car back regardless & something like a cat d or less would be a great result (depending how much they offer me or course) & the assessor said he couldn't see that being a problem! woo hoo! fingers crossed it doesn't take much longer now as i'm dying to get my arse back in it after having to endure a toyota aygo courtesy car! have to say a massive thanks to the lads at autofix garage at shiremoor who stored my car & kept it safe & twice stopped it being taken away by a salvage company despite me telling the insurance company i'm keeping the car! anyone living in the area i cant recommend them enough, they've looked after my corrados for the last 5 years & they've never tried to take the pxxs & always offer a cracking service! even when i bought a dog of an mr2 they still bent over backwards to help me after i found out it had been bodged for its last mot. ( i know, don't know what i was thinking ) -
looking the dogs danglies now michael (not that it wasn't the last time i saw it), wish i had the time to put this amount of work into mine! in saying that now i've decided to keep mine forever i've got renewed enthusiasm for it! keep up the good work & we'll have to have a catch up sometime.
-
hi andy, still got the mr2 but it's all fixed-ish so it's going on fleabay in the next day or two. corrado's getting inspected on thursday so fingers crossed it's good news! getting frustrated coz i've got all the bits in me kitchen just waiting for the go ahead!(hope i haven't jumped the gun there!) all being well & good will hopefully make a start this weekend! i see you're selling the wheels all ready, you putting it back to standard then? i always thought sherry pearl was darker than what yours looks so i'm looking forward to seeing it, your car looks the colour of irn bru in the pics! apart from the suspension & obviously the wipers what you got planned for it, owt exciting?
-
huzzarr!!! :D pleased you've finally got one & a minter at that! look forward to seeing it in the flesh! i'll be interested to hear what suspension set up you go for as i'll be going down the same route when mine's eventually fixed! good work fella

had some great news this morning, whilst scouring fleabay for the spares to get the old girl fixed i came across a lad very local to me who had a few bits i need. gave him a ring & it turns out he's the lad i bought my very first corrado off many years ago!! anyhoo, told him what had happened & what i needed & it sounds like he's got everything i need to repair her!!! happy days!!!! :D just got to wait for the insurance assessor to have a look at her then i can get cracking sorting her out!! :D -

the wheels are 17" momo's, never seen them on another corrado but they do look rather good, just been refurbed as well! thanks for all the comments guys, i have to say i'm feeling rather positive about the whole thing now. just waiting to hear from the insurance company & i've told them i'm keeping the car whatever happens so hopefully things will be sorted very soon. then the search for the spares begins, there's a vw specialist breakers just down the road from me so fingers crossed i can get most bits from there & obviously i'll be keeping an eye out on here & flea bay! i've already got everything in place for the repairs, once i get the go ahead then it'll be all systems go & she'll be good as she was before the crash! :D -
how's this for irony, after much soul searching i'd finally sold my beloved corrado, luckily to a good home (andy-toonvw off here) & was off to the garage to get a new shocker top fitted then hand it over to its new owner when not 20 yards from the garage some pillock pulled out of a side road resulting in me hitting the side of him! he admitted he never seen me but how the fxxk did he not hear me! obviously i'm devasted & i'd imagine it'll be wrote off but when i did finally get to the garage they said it should be quite an easy fix so i'll be saving another one from the great scrapyard in the sky!!! apologies to andy who must've been excited all week waiting for the car only for it to be swiped away at the last minute!! couple of pics before & after!!!!
-
you can tell people you know andy, you'll not temp fate!!! fingers crossed i can get it sorted for you quick as poss!!! i'm just glad its going to a good home!!!

i'm after a bit of help as i've just bought a car that has had the sills bodged with fibreglass. basically what happened is the car initially failed on the sills then passed on the re-test having been 'fixed' with fibreglass. as soon as i bought it i took it to my garage & they said it should never had passed. they said to contact vosa but i thought i'd give the mot station a ring first to give him chance to explain. the guys basically said it was touch & go but 'he' would've probably failed it again ( think he was trying to play down the seriousness of the situation) and that he would sort the car by welding patches on the sills. took it back to my garage & they said that although that would do the job they wouldn't be happy as it'll just end up rotting again & they reckon in needs complete new sill to do the job properly. my question is this, am i within my rights to say no to the patching & demand a proper repair or do i have to take the quick fix repair. i don't want to be all arsey with the guy & threaten him with vosa but i'm really not happy with it being patched coz i'll end up having to do the job properly myself at a later date!!!! please help!!!!!!!

pleased your happy with the valver, you got a reet bargain there!! just pleased its been saved from the scrapyard coz she'd rather see it there than in the hands of some charver from ebay!!! i'll keep her informed on the progress of her old car coz she's much happier it's went to a good home! hope you get it sorted soon.

just found my old thread & it was indeed relay number 18. the following things happened to my car was the heater went off, the abs light stayed on & the wipers stopped working & i'm sure other electrical things stopped too! changed the relay & that sorted it! hope this helps?
-
similar thing happened to me last year & from memory it was just a relay. there is a thread on here but it'll probs take you ages to find it. cant be certain but i think it was either relay 12 or 18, maybe 15 (if they go up that high) but then mine's a vr so might be different number relay for a g60. i'll have a look for the old one to see what number's on it alternatively find out which relay controls the things you mentioned & replace it. it cost less than a tenner so that's where i'd start.

that looks proper 8) , always loved white corrados! surprised i've never seen you out & about in the north east?

mate of mine worked in a lexus garage & a well dressed couple walked in & wanted to buy a 50k lexus. he took out a credit card & she said to him rather sheepishly that he probably doesn't have as much as he thinks coz she'd had a bit of a slurge!!! the bloke never batted an eyelid & took out another & he bought the f-n lexus on his 'spare card'! my mate thought it was a joke as he'd only been working there a couple of weeks, anyway the card went through no probs so he was clapping his hands at the easiest sale ever!!! i was just thinking exactly how much is a bit of a 'splurge'?

road related one, think i've told this one before but it is rather amusing.... when i was a lad i had a yam rd 125 lc which i was in the process of putting back together after yet another crash.... anyway got it all back together & was faffing on with the carb in the vain hope of extracting another 0.5bhp out of it. unbeknown to me, when i put the carb back together i put the carb slider in the wrong way resulting in the throttle being jammed wide open! the f-n thing wouldn't kick over (obviously coz it was flooded) so i thought i'd bump it. as i did it fired & took off down the lane like a cat with a firework up its arse with me hanging on for dear life! couldn't shut the throttle off & the front wheel was hovering about 2 feet off the ground! got about 30 foot down the lane before the back wheel caught the kerb which then swung me into a neighbours gate & flipped me over the bars, over his fence, narrowly missing his clothes line pole & landing hard on his concrete yard!!! my neighbour who was washing his dishes at the kitchen window saw what happened, colapsed in histerics, litterally crawled out the house pxxsing himself laughing, crawled passed me still rolling on the floor in agony & turned the kill switch off on my bike!!! the twxt wasn't bothered if i was ok or not just his kid had just went to sleep!!! had to sneak my totally wrecked bike into the garage, walk past my mam without limping & go & lie down for 2 days coz she would of killed me if she knew i'd totalled it again! the exuberance of youth! -
same thing happened on my valver, does it go up ok? i took the switch out & took the actually top part of the switch off, the bit you actually push. underneath they have little tabs at either end of the rocker switch that makes the contact & one of those had snapped. just got a new switch & hey tesco! working again.

^ ^ ^ ^ ^ yeah, what he said. if it's the storm you want then it seems like a good price, i've seen them going for a lot more. the problem i'd have if i owned a storm is i'd want to keep the mileage as low as poss & totally standard where as a 'normal' vr6 i don't mind doing mods & love to drive it. plus imo there's nicer colours available in standard vr's. but you pays your money & make your choices!
-
my mate had a 205 gti many years ago & i vaguely remember his heater packing up! from memory it's a common fault on 'em & it ended up costing him a fortune & his father in law owns a garage! i think it's along the lines of a corrado heater matrix kinda job! soz for sounding vague but it's over 10 year ago, when i see him i'll ask him.
-
a few spring to mind, some of you have probably never even heard of them! lada riva (i think) it's the one that's shaped like you used to draw cars when you were 3! a girl i worked with had one & i swear the brake pedal was 6 inches above the other pedals, truly scary! morris ital - wallowy piece of utter crap! yugo yastaza - mate had one that was only 2 year old but was already full of holes! it had a hole in the sill 8x3" that we tried to fix with the lid of a tin of quality streets! oh the exuberance of youth! i've driven some utter crap in my times so i'm sure i'll think of others!
-
welcome to the forum mate, lovely looking cars & top notch photography! get some more pics taken but swap the cars with the backdrops! 8)
-
i remember thinking 'didn't know they did corrados in this colour' coz i bought an ice grey violet pearl one & thinking great, a car with half decent brakes! (after owning a scirocco anyway!)
