Hi Sean, where did you get the starter mate?
-
I'm pretty sure mine doesn't run after switch off.... But runs on ignition

My dash went back in last night. Most cables routed as they should be and my knuckles look like I fought my way through brambles while I was at it. Just thought I'd share an idea I had. I inserted some speed clips (spire clips) where the lower shelves meet the dash. This will help hold the dash firmer as the original tapped holes were wearing on my car. Hope this helps :)

did i over do it with the valve covers? -
I went to size for 2 reasons: 1) you never get a firm "seal" with air vents etc so going oversize is overkill. Directional flow is enough for the job 2) if oversize you risk catching/ dragging within the heater box putting additional stress risk on the cables/ controls

No worries Andy / Bob.

I bought loads as while doing that job I'm lining stuff with felt to stop rattles. If you are doing the flaps only then 1 or 2 a4 sheets from hobbycraft will do you fine.

Another vote for felt. I did mine last weekend :)

Keep turning the lot. It will come loose when it's out of your heater box. Then when your heater box is out of the way you will see the stud in the fire wall and be able to hold it with an 18mm spanner (I think) from the inside while you get a mate to undo the 10mm nut in the engine bay. Once free, clean it up and screw it back into the heater box ready for replacing. I used a bit of thread lock too.
