Welcome along. You are right about certain parts becoming harder to source but there aren't many bits that cant be had from a wanted thread on here. What colour is yours? My 1st car had a similar plate N808CWB Enjoy :)

I have never found the need to ease out air.

Leave cap off, run engine, turn on fans to full heat and blowing. Run engine till hot and be sure bottom rad hose gets hot, when it gets hot you know your stat has opened. this should bleed up the system

very enjoyable read this thread mate, top skills :) This is by no means a criticism more an honest question: the oil feed you have, will it not over supply the turbo? Only reason I ask is that I have a 1mm restrictor on mine to avoid over facing the turbo/ seals. Looking forward to more progress info :D
