i was obv in work when our area was taken, old mans car is on the road and VW van on the drive -
not sure if this is a problem to worry about or not. Went to get fuel today, car warmed up to normal temps got stuck in abit of 2nd gear crap though, so oil temp rose to 96-98, nothing major to worry about water was at 90 and fan coming on when needed. When i was near home though could smell burning oil and my car was slightly smoking, I let it cool down for abit then started it and exhaust was just letting out normal volume of fumes. could this just be down to hot temps or is it something to do with car? car is 1.8 16v.

i'll have to pick up a few of these and put them on the bay myself then. :D

10% available off vag parts, available from................me pm if interested, would have to buy parts from my franchise though in s.wales.
-
my max temp is 96 for oil in standing traffic usually and water about 90 then fan kicks in,i put a new vag oil cooler on when changing my engine to which helps keep everything in order.
-
if they never had one standard then a prevoius owner must have got one for mine.
-
my valver had the accelerator rubber still on it when i bought the car a year ago so had survived 15 years. i threw it in the bin though as its just a piece of plastic crap, now have TT pedals.
-
custom full system is the way i went. goes from the exhaust manifold back, replaced middle and rear silencers, new pipes and hangers for £340

pop down your local VW dealership and give them a few details, they can work out when it was serviced etc and where. Looks a local car though UM being a Leeds Registration

is it poss to change radiator without removing slam panel etc, i had a little poke about and seems like a can disconnect and remove fan quite easily then 4 bolts holding radiator in place removed and with a bit of jiggling should come out, this the case and how long it take approx 2 hrs?
