Massive instability under braking & spin. Oh dear.
sciroccotune replied to jonrb's topic in General Car Chat
Sounds just like what (nearly) happened to me before I fixed my abs... One of the rear callipers locked way before the rest of the wheels and caused my car to be pulled in its direction (was the opposite directions to everything you have said) Once abs was fixed I no longer notice any problems but I have since had a minor clean of the rears and will be fully taking apart and inspecting them next pad change. Or As pointed out road contamination or odd camber. There is a bend round my way (coming out of Jesmond on to the central motorway) that has tried to kill me in both VW coupes the Scirocco was the worst as it just did not suit the camber but the rado is similar… -
The crx's i have driven have always been more top end (i.e when vtec comes in - infact the normal ones to) so at least your g60 will have some low-down 8v style. NO doubt it will be close however... let us know the outcome and should be fun trying ;-)

glad you have got it done my friend....Also glad that you have confirmed my findings..... (turns out I'm not crazy ;-) ) Have to agree with the corrado being a bit noisy :multi:

slight problem when installing my rear fk springs/shocks
sciroccotune replied to veritas137's topic in Drivetrain
Did you have all the spring plates on there? As far as I remember the spring plate and other top mount parts defiantly did not fit over the shock -
sorted chaps, last owners bodge job halfway down loom :?

kinda nice to see a scirocco in an advert!
-
gonna have a look at it bit later one, we both have the day off work to play cars lol. Bloody VW's ;-)

like the wheels mate, oh and the 2l 16v is the 'bestest' engine 'evera'!

I saw a set on ebay which i fancied some time ago - the seller did describe them as VW ??

I would imagine that after charging the car would require an ecu remap to cope with the charger correctly, prevent leaning out etc..

Im good at this placing threads thing. its an iso all right just doesn’t seem to be wired right!?! the previous radio worked (was a vag sony tape) but doesn’t work plug and play and I have tried 2 sony units with the same result... its just odd.

My mate got a mk3 golf today, little 1.4, really nice runner and such a nice colour (like maroon metallic ish). Anyway I went to pop a stereo in for him only to find the wiring somewhat odd.. all looks factory but doesn’t seem to be right tried swapping a few wires about as you have to for the c BUT no luck could get the cd player to come on but would go off and on in quick succession. The iso power connection plug has 1 red wire 1 black wire 1 gray wire 1 green wire 1 blue wire I expected the black to be ground but the multi meter showed the gray to be??? And the red gave 12+ as did the blue Confused lol Any help much appreciated

TBH I think you would be hard pushed to really damage other parts of the car as long as they are installed correctly, sure some one will give there opinions also. of course more unsprung weight will affect handling
-
Well you are meant to try and keep the rolling diameter as close to stock as possible to avoid such problems... check this out: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Think I will for the doors, thinking a combination of aqua seal and the proper stuff should do the trick. edit: I can see my windows stop working the moment i cover the doors with sound deadening
-
sticky it is! you will have it under your nails for a few days ;-)

Ok so many a bad opinion of the ol' green stuff pads. But tell me this, are they better than VAG pads? I don’t really go for it breaking wise and the VAG pads have been fine for me so if green stuff are better they would suit me. thanks fopr the help guys..
-
I have done a bit more looking around on this subject and it seems that even professional sound deadening is just a material, i.e aluminium, with a bitumen base. The only difference seems to be thickness... just double up on the aqua seal :-)
-
lol - cheers Billinj..

vw do the in leather for around the £20 mark.. thats what i have :-)
-
audioscape linkage please :-)
-
Yeah I suspected it wasn’t 'as' good but for the price :-) and its not all that heavy. Also it will make a good base for some more expensive stuff in the future. do you have a link for that stuff kev??

i just need to do the front of my car now...ill let you guys know how it goes...
-
yeah could well be if you can get the chemicals etc and based on how much polished/plated items go for!!
