Do they not teach the green cross code any more...?
joebloggsVR69 posted a topic in General Car Chat
:bad-words: I swear people have a death wish these days... the number of times I've had people walking in the road in front of me without a care in the world is just astounding. Just yesterday, there were these 2 teenagers who seemed oblivious to me, they didnt show any sense of urgency in getting out of the way - I had to stop dead in front of them, then they had the cheek to start swearing at me..?!?! I remember when I were a lad, Darth Vader showed us how to cross properly - look left, look right, look left again.. And even when turning into roads these days, I've noticed people dont look to see it's all clear before they cross..? I know in Germany pedestrians have right of way, and walk right out in front of you like jay-walkers... Surely it's not like that over here Does the car have right of way or not? over> -
Ah, this must be the one that was on ebay ;) Must admit, I was eyeing it up too! Couldnt really justify buying another corrado, I have 2 already...

Yeah they fit, but they are useless

There were a couple of done up Scirocco's in the Scally Rally a couple of years ago, maybe these are the one's you mean -
They are useless, it's the arms that make the most difference not just the blades

Looking good 8)

The front ABS sensor is about £55 from the $tealers I think Euro car parts sell them for about £10 less, though I'm not sure if they are the same part or an after market type

There's only be one bolt keeping it on the hub - the one you've already removed It's probably just siezed on, try using some penetrating fluid and try knocking it out with a hammer

Removing seized allen key bolts..?

I've measured the new ABS sensor bolts - 19mm for the rear, 25mm for the front -

Havent removed the bolts yet, ordered the kit but it'll take a few days, given all this snow. Besides, it's a bit cold to be out there  I bought new bolts from the $tealers, they were less than a pound each, I'm sure -

Do they remove snow from my driveway? :D -

Yeah, I've got spline sockets, the only problem might be actually hammering one onto the end of the bolt, there's really not that much room I'll give it a try though, and also order some Irwin grippers :) -

I've got an impact driver, but there's only about 2 inches of clearance from the bolt head -

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll give them a try :D -
I've got a allen key/hex bolt that refuses to budge, the one holding the rear ABS sensor.. Why oh why do VW use these bloody bolts :brickwall: I've tried spraying a whole lot of penetrating spray, used an allen key, mole grips and an angled socket with a hex attachment and the damn thing hasn't moved at all What's the best way to remove it, short of going to a garage to get them to weld a bit onto it? Are those Irwin bolt grippers any good at allen key bolts?

I get the following error message when trying to use VAG-COM to scan my ABS: "Excessvie comm errors, unable to continue" ...so what does that actually mean? My ABS light is permanently on and it's annoying me :brickwall: I've read that you can check the resistance of the sensors with a multimeter, I've tried that but can only do it on the male end of the connectors (is that the correct way to do it?), the female end is inside a plastic sleeve, too long for my multimeter prongs to touch. :help:

Nice one, I'll take you up on that! Version 311 would be great too, thanks :D Have you got a paypal account, or do you want me to send you a cheque?

Hi, I bought one of these diagnostic leads off ebay a while ago and it's supposed to work with VAG COM 409. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0264176020 Well it kinda works, although all it's telling me is I have an ABS fault, not which sensor it is..! Well I already knew that thanks to the ABS light being permanently on  Am I right in thinking I need an opto isolated cable which works with version 311 of VAG COM? This cable I have doesnt seem to work with version 311. If this is the case, does anyone know where to get an older style lead, as I think the ones on ebay all seem to be non opto isolated Thanks!
-
You need to get hold of a decent fault code reader, I have a similar problem - bought a code reader from egay which doesnt work properly I think you need to use the older VAG-COM too, v3.1 and an opto isolated lead

I found these 2 wiring diagrams ages ago (might have been on VW Vortex..) Was tempted to make my own 4 relay loom, but never got round to it  2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf2relays.gif[/attachment:1n86wgb9] 4relay.gif[/attachment:1n86wgb9]

Well that sounds like a load of cobblers :D I've called Brentacre a couple of times, only for him to tell me I've overvalued my car... I've got an agreed valuation policy with Flux, it only costs about £25 I think. I know how much I've spent on my car, so if I had a big accident which was my fault, I'd be might pi$$ed off if my insurer offered me the 'book' rate. An agreed valuation means you'll get exactly what it's been agreed for, in the event you need to make a claim. One annoying thing is if a third party drives into you, your agreed valuation is useless, as it's the 3rd party insurers that are paying out, and they will value it at the 'book' rate. Still, for the sake of £25 I know I'd rather get a valuation in writing :)

I remember when I was at Uni, I used to spend ages in the library looking through something called "Car Styling" magazine. They had loads of pics of the Corrado's development in one of the issues: http://www.carstylingmag.com/default.tp ... rq=0671188

Nice one mate, I move a year ago to a place with a drive way and garage, apart from I can't get the C in as it's full of crap!! how's the C doing? Ah, cool, a garage/driveway is always a priority when choosing a place, I'm sure you'd agree  My VR6 is as it was, nothing changed on it, except the ABS light is now on all the time. Must get it VAG-Com'd I don't think I've seen yours since you've had it painted, I'm sure I'll bump into you at a show or something :) -
