  1. You make it sound so easy  I'd also like to install aircon or climatronic, but wouldn't have a clue where to start :?
  2. Looks like my daily drive to work... :x Bloody local authorities seem to be doing nothing about them. Where the hell does our road tax go? (No need to answer that, I know it's squandered on less important stuff ) It's really dangerous though, imagine if a cyclist/motorcyclist rode into one of those. And I find myself avoiding potholes so much, I often end up having to veer across the white road markings..
  3. Yeah, all the injectors came out (with the help of pliers) and they were seated very firmly New injectors are ever so slightly different, because the VW part number changed. But they are a direct replacement for the original injectors Gonna spend a few hours on it now, see if I can get the original inserts out :)
  4. Afer a quick look at ETKA, I've had a thought - do I need new injector inserts too? The parts guy at the $tealership told me I didnt, but I'm beginning to think that's the problem... :( How the hell do the inserts come out anyway?? Long nose pliers?
  5. The new injectors came completely assembled with new seals
  6. Bought some new injectors for my MK2 Golf, proper bits from VAG I managed to remove the old injectors, but the new ones just dont go in fully. At first I though the new ones were slightly different, so I tried putting the old ones back in. Couldnt get those to fit either!! Now I know you'll probably suggest using a bit more force, but I've had 2 other people try and force them in, with no joy... I've greased them up and everything.... any suggestions? :? Do I need a tool to get them in? Was thinking of using a socket on the end of it and then trying to lever it in with a breaker bar. Will have to try again tomorrow :(
  7. My full respray cost me close to £3K two years back, not including all the new bits and pieces of trim... I'd rather pay once to get a top quality job, than pay a lot less and constantly be regretting it because of a load of imperfections coming up a few months down the line Also, I guess the price varies depending where you are in the country - higher overheads for the bodyshop etc.
  8. That's just f*cking awful.... what a waste :(
  9. Oh, and park like a ba$tard, that's what I do... it's the only way! Take up 2 spaces if you can
  10. Yeah, but what are the cops gonna do? They're to busy drinking cawfee and munching donuts... :? I doubt they care about things like this, unfortunately Chris - Do you still live a couple of roads away from me? I'm sure the council rents out garages in the road
  11. Hmm.. this is the list of parts that I bought (prices/part numbers may have changed since then) I also bought new brake disks, pads, abs rings, bearings, top mounts which aren't on this list, but it all adds up to £623 Prices below are exlcuding VAT, and it totals to just over £400 I think TIMING CHAINS (lower chain) 1 x lower timing chain - simplex 021 109 465B £30.26 1 x lower timing chain tensioner 021 109 467 £21.17 2 x bolts, lower timing chain tensioner N905 350 01 £0.14 1 x lower timing chain guide rail 021 109 469 £2.93 1 x lower pin 021 109 471 £1.38 (upper chain) 1 x upper timing chain - duplex 021 109 503A £60.98 1 x upper pin 021 109 511 £9.08 1 x Bolt, tensioner for Golf Mk4 top pad 021 109 507B £23.81 1 x Tensioner, Golf Mk4 top pad 021 109 509E £7.14 1 x mid pin 021 109 515A £5.78 1 x upper timing chain guide rail 021 109 513 £7.89 1 x hex bolt N010 272 4 £0.26 1 x hex bolt N010 352 10 £0.64 CLUTCH Clutch clutch kit; p/plate, f/plate, release bearing 021 198 141AX £120.00 6 x 12 point head bolt N101 010 01 £0.32 each 1 x Guide sleeve 02A 141 180A £8.07 1 x Oil seal 085 311 113 £12.10 1 x Round seal N903 543 01 £1.86 3 x spline socket head bolts N903 554 04 £0.25 each 1 x clutch release arm 02J 141 719B £13.76 1 x Spring, clutch release arm retaining 012 141 741 £0.38 1 x Ball Pin, clutch release arm pivot pin 02A 141 777 £2.38 1 x Grease for clutch plate G 000 100 £4.96 FLYWHEEL 1 x Flywheel 021 105 269BX £73.95 10 x flywheel fixing bolts N905 398 01 £0.90 each
  12. £450 for fitting of clutch, flywheel, timing chains/tensioners, new thermostat, coilovers and 4 wheel alignment  Beat that!! The parts cost considerably more though... £620 for the chains/flywheel/clutch etc.... (thats with a 10% discount)
  13. I did the chains for peace of mind when I had my clutch fitted. Turns out my top tensioner wasn't in the best of shape, and this was at about 83k miles
  14. I was reading something about this the other week, but it's claimed Joseph Kittinger made the highest jump at 102,800 feet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Kittinger Some insane footage of his jump on youtube
  15. Well I bought them in a group buy about 2 years back, so that may have helped get the price down  Got them fitted by my garage when it was in for a new clutch/chains etc. They are dead easy to adjust, just take the wheels off and use the c-spanners provided to change the height Dampening is adjusted by turning the screw at the top of the suspension, although I left mine at the softest setting :D
  16. That's what I've got, and I like them :D Mine were slighly cheaper - £565 including VAT+delivery
  17. What an ar$ehole! Hope you did get his details... Someone knocked my rear bumper about a year ago, while it was parked. No details left, and I didnt want it to affect my insurance, so I paid for the repairs myself.. Your bumper should be pretty easily repairable - A bit of heat and it should pop back into shape. Doesnt look like its broken the paint, so you should get away without it needing to be repainted
  18. This is an ancient thread, I dont think VAG dealers give discounts to CCGB members these days. GSF do though I still get discounts from the $tealers, but that's because they know me so well, and I've spent a fortune there   Ah.. I only just realised the price list was updated on page 1. Still, my dealer has no idea what the CCGB is :?
  19. I guess I was spoilt when I was a Club GTI member some years back with their more regular mags...
  20. Yep, I get exactly the same thing on mine - was worried by it at first, but I now think of it as a 'feature' I asked a similar question about this on here when I bought my VR6, but no one seemed to know what I was on about Only happens to me at slow speeds, say under 40mph Would be nice to know what causes it
  21. Just out of curiosity, how many Sprinter mags have been sent out in the last year? :? March is renewal time and I'm not sure if I'll be sending my cheque this time round.. I'm not having a go at you, Jim, but this whole CCGB thing feels like I'm throwing money down the toilet
