I am with you there i have cut out some wooden blocks to fit the cup of the trolley jack and my axel stands - and i think i have found some sturdy points but still heard a creak which was enought for me to bail out and bring it back down again. I am sure i am being a bit of pussy about this - but i just don't want to do any damage to myself or the car. I would love a drive over pit - thats another one for my lottery list.

First thing is to run a VAG-COM and see what faults it picks up. This may lead you right to the bugbear rather then end up replacing parts that have no defects.

I have knocking sound coming from what i belive to be the Belt Tensioner - i have had a search and found quite a few problems where folk have a squeal from the bearing in the pulley but not a knocking from the Belt T. Would i be right in my diagnosis? Just before i shell out for a replacement. Another point Will - the focus and a punto are quite a bit lighter then a VR6. Also i echo the points made by the others, there is less initial bite, but plenty follows up.

Is'nt that just for the manifold kev? 399 seems like a bargin to t charge a vr6? - then again i might be missing something

Really Sorry to hear about your Car. That must be gutting, heres me moaning about parking dinks are your fighting to stop them from writing off your beloved. Can someone enlighten me as to why they ask for the value of your car when you start a new policy? If they are going to come back with there own price, what is the point in giving a high value and lifting up the total premium.

Just found another dink on my drivers door where some frickin ijeet has wanged there door open with no regard for the person parked next to them. I can't even think where this happened, as i always park over the far side of any carpark. I am really thinking of making some contrapation out of fine strip of inner tube so this does not happen again - not as permenant mod :) but just something i can clip into place from under the wheel arches to run along the centre line. Its either that or install CCTV.

There's no getting away from it, evo's and wrc's will leave a vr6 on the straight and narrows and a C could only just keep them in sight on the twistys (having said that i don't know how well an evo handles). But the fact remains, they look so plain and boring esp the imprezza. So when i am parked in the petrol forecourt and queueing up to pay, I look out at my Corrado with its mean wide stance from the front profile and i just thinks 'feck - your gorgeous' :) Anyway back on topic - will have to watch this tonight.

Only thing to be aware of with elephant is they do something called a no-claims bonus excellerator. This is where you get a no claims discount after 10 months - This sounds good, apart from no one else but elephant will recognise it as a NCB - so if you come to move your policy over to another company, they won't accept it is it is not a 'year's no claims bonus.

Bottom rad hose off - and then drain it all away. Fill with tap water turn engine and then drain again to give it anothe flush. Your now ready to use some G12+ (2 x one and half litres). Top up the remaining with water *EDIT distilled water from halfords. The above was butchered from different threads - been collating them into a spreadsheet of jobs to do. So if a car is has a SORN declaration you can still tax it without providing a insurance policy? Did'nt know that.
