  1. did you.. but in any case, did you specfically want new calipers? if not, then: £80 or less per pair 2nd hand. £50 for calipers and carriers 2nd hand - some come up almost every week on here/ed38/vr6oc. also send bigpantsbaby a pm as he has them all pretty often. shouldn't take you long to find all the bits.
  2. do a search for 288mm brakes and you should be kept busy reading for a fair while! red stuff is a good choice too.
  3. yeah, cos you havent got enough going on this summer Mic! I would really love to get a bike as i did my licence 3 years ago now but from a safety point of view i have nearly fully convinced myself that i need to live somewhere else than central london before i do..

    What Tyres?

standard size (which is what they are) is 195 or 205/50/15
  5. ah ok, well with black calipers the white could be good although i think i'd be tempted to paint the rims too in that case. just remember to carry a bucket of water around with you to keep cleaning them! :)
  6. cheers guys, i'm pretty sure the top mounts were new when the Koni/H&R went on but that was 25k miles ago. Jim, when you say bearings do you mean as part of the top-mounts?
  7. what colour are your brakes these days Karl? not sure white with polished lips would go that well imo but black centres against red calipers would be an obvious choice to continue the engine bay theme
  8. Quick question, I'm not a expert but I'm aware that for different aftermarket suspension sometimes people need to use different top-mounts etc. If I'm swapping from Koni top-adjustables with the H&R springs (which have been on the car for about 4 years) to KW version 1 coilovers, will i need to, or should I be changing top-mounts or anything else at the time? I'm told I have had new rear bushes in the past and recently I've had new front wisbhones and front subframe bushes and ball joints. An extra factor is that I would like to put some ARBs on at the same time but this is not a definite. Any thoughts on this work in general are welcome.
  9. wow, where did you get it for that price?!
  10. sounds like a fair enough price to me!
  11. yes, but thats why he pointed out the almost identical power to weight ratios!

    Oettinger?????

http://www.clubgti.com/forum/archive/in ... 18594.html afaik they have always offered rebuilds on factory VAG engines and the corrado was included on that. there aren't many around though so if your engine hasn't been changed in the last 10 years then its probably pretty rare!
  13. I just bought some KW1s to replace my Koni/HRs. Would you be interested in my 2nd hand ones?? Will drop you a PM too :)
  14. posted a little thread to see who's interested in a GB for some fans :) link

    vr6 cams

I had the 268s in mine for a few weeks before it was then schricked and mapped. Definitely felt the difference as it was racing up the revs faster once higher in the range. Unfortunately i had a crank sensor wiring fault at the time so didn't get a decent dyno run with just the cams. My results with cams and a shrick are in my sig. However, given that the shrick doesnt do masses for your top end power compared with what it does for the torque i would say that 10-15 bhp from well mapped 268s is what you might hope for. in combination with the shrick you'd hope to have +15-20 bhp from your standard 190-195. (all other things the same...) So, it seems that the 263s are good on their own but the schrick, although expensive, does a lot more for the low down torque and so the combination of that and 268s is a bit better than the 263s on their own. That said, i'm still curious about 263s plus schrick so thats why i'll get round to testing them later in the year :) John
  16. haha, you've got £147 in upgrades a year? feels like that per month to me!! i guess £848 in repairs/servicing picks up some of that though.. :pale:
  17. ah well, my mistake, 195 is what the average 2.9 VR puts out and as they didn't mention any mods it sounded normal to get a nice increase like that from a map. mine put out 205 when standard and unmapped too...
  18. thats what they did in the first post??!

    vr6 cams

i just bought some 263s and if i feel like spending £300 later in the year to get them fitted and mapped then i'll have a comparison of mapped 268s and 263s on the same engine.
  20. If you're doing it to sell then i have my old original suspension that you could have for not a great deal. Cheers John
  21. yes the et is fine but is the renault bolt pattern and bore size the same??
  22. to be honest, i was quite pleased with a good few thousand miles on most surfaces with my brand new fogs protected by the lamin-x film. i think it just takes the edge of the impact off anything but the largest stone hits - its rare that the lenses actually break, they just suffer from a pointed impact of two hard surfaces which the film can soften. shame i went and smashed them after all that :)
