  1. i must admit i sometimes feel a little guilty when i find myself driving the same way as i do in london in other parts of the country where traffic is not as bad/slow.. its just that a friend of mine took 40 mins to get the last 2 miles to our office today and while its not always that bad, i suppose the frustration that kind of thing causes gets the better of some of us (me) sometimes.. not that i've often driven into a petrol station to get further up a queue before..
  2. lol, so what happens when you've got 6 times that much next year?! :)
  3. ouch! nice colour though :) has been said before but everyone needs to hurt themselves before they really learn..
  4. This thread has been split at this point (late 2008) to stay current and the posts since then pruned somewhat to make for less intimidating reading to new viewers. The thread focusses on brands of tyre applicable to and available for Corrados and the performance of those tyres. It shouldn't be a place to discuss stretch or other tyre size advice beyond the OE specs that I've added below in this first post. We will create a new thread for tyre size/wheel fitment advice this as it is subjective for everyone and how each person wants their car to look. There is also a separate "Winter Tyre" thread now too. This post will be updated from time to time and the thread will also be pruned occasionally to keep things relevant. If anyone feels they're missing anything from previous years we can add that back in too so just ask. We may also add a "Top 5" or some other kind of record of commonly recommended tyres but are giving this a bit more thought. Please try to take some time to do some research yourself before asking for opinions. There will be a fair amount of information now condensed in here and you have the internet too! People asking for recommendations who havent even come up with a shortlist may not get very constructive answers.. Otherwise, please go ahead and keep submitting your impressions of the tyres you're running :) Standard wheel/tyre sizing information In general, standard Corrado wheel and tyre sizes were as follows: 8v, 16v, G60 (4-stud) 6.5"x15" wheel (ET33) running 195/50 R15 82V tyres VR6 (5-stud) 6.5"x15" wheel (ET43) running 205/50 R15 86V tyres Larger wheel/tyre sizing information (maintaining OE specifications & speedo reading) If you want to run larger wheels but making sure everything fits and functions as it would have done as standard then choose as below: 8v, 16v, G60 (4-stud) 7"x16" wheel (~ET28) running 205/45 R16 86V tyres 7.5"x17 wheel (~ET25) running 205/40 R17 86V tyres VR6 (5-stud) 7"x16" wheel (~ET38) running 205/45 R16 86V tyres 7.5"x17" wheel (~ET35) running 205/40 R17 86V tyres Points to bear in mind when considering tyre choice - Local depots will often try to sell you what they have in stock first and claim they cannot get what you're after - However, fitting internet bought tyres will normally cost £15/corner and hardly ever less than £10 - some wont do it at all. - Most of the sporty Bridgestone, Michelin, Continental & Pirelli tyres are no longer available in smaller sizes - For VR owners, 195/50/15 are used on lots more cars so they are up to 50% cheaper than 205s but check if your ins. co. minds - Keep matching tyres on the same axle – different front to back is ok. Safest to put your best set on the rear but not reqd. - Tyres don’t last forever, if not used for several years or left in temperature extremes they may fail - If your car is up in the 280-400+bhp bracket bear in mind transmission stresses with your choice - track tyres may break stuff! 5. i've posted part no's on here before so search and you should find them but they go on ebay for about £7 each from sellers like lesbray or online from pwmotorsport - they're 56mm ones
  6. think that was pretty poor to be honest.. considering that there are still some people that actually know about cars that watch the programme, those attempts at making it go faster were dismal...
  7. very nice, you must get lots of comments too?
  8. just weighed a speedline with a brand new inflated 205/50 rainsport2 on it and it was 16kg making the tyre+compressed air 8.5kg i guess..?
  9. whats terminal?? glad it got fixed but shame if you're still not happy with it..
  10. i would be into a sub enc. group buy too..
  11. dukest

    Car Tax

this is all pure comedy gold :D
  12. its like they said, the other 2 are the sports cars (well, the corvette is!) and the challenger is the old school muscle car which i think most people would take with their heart.. although hopefully they do a manual version?
  13. great to hear Karl :) wasn't up early enough yesterday to make it but hoped you were doing well when i saw this outside stealth yesterday, their first mk5 r32 and apparently the wiring on this was a marathon too! 08112008761.jpg[/attachment:3jcjlhim] it sounded very tasty as the owner got taken out for his first drive - get some video of yours up
  14. was up at stealth yesterday and so managed to get a picture of the engine that Jon there is preparing for his 4mo bora :) don't think the picture really does it justice but he's aiming for 800bhp with the bored out r32 + mahoosive turbo! 08112008758.jpg[/attachment:2cf95rel]
  15. is a shame Andy, and also that the whole family was as emotional about it as you were, its not so often that "other halves" get sucked in to the obsession too.. fair enough to admit that you dont think you'll be back.. its unlikely there'll be cars that are as rewarding to work on by the time that you might want to do that with noah but i know that personally, with any boys i might have or with my nephews, i'll want to expose them to karting, going to shows, grand prix's etc as much as possible. hopefully the money allows a few indulgences on that front if nothing else :) will sorry to see you and your enthusiasm and perfectionism go as and when you do finally call it a day. :salute:
  16. like a little joey in its mum's pouch, lol! whats this thread about again??
  17. good to see clarkson taking the brunt of a challenge for a change! all very funny though, great episode :)
  18. congratulations to lewis, shame not to be on the podium to celebrate but massa also deserved the win for sure.. something weird going on with glock though... "his sector times are fine... lewis is not going to win the championship" to "he's dropped 18 seconds on the last lap, lewis has got it!" :?
  19. agreed, they'd look better on the outside if they were on all the time.. colin, dont know if its an early/late thing but on mine (assuming h/lights are on) then there is illumination for the fronts and then for fronts and rears together, but not for rears alone (ie. you cant have rears on on their own).
