Good luck with it buddy when you get to it.

Hmmm the water easily runs into the bottom sections though leaving the side bits seemingly dry. Have you removed the passenger shelf to see if the foam on the back is wet?
-
A big thanks to all who have bought a few bits from me recently including, Gloster Ox, Harrier, Clumpy1, Timbo, Krishen, Gareth192001, Winchbietch & Dgarwood all paid promptly and were a pleasure to deal with. Thanks chaps ;)

If you remove the doorcard it'll be obvious if if has come unstuck and letting water through into the cabin. If this is the case i'd get yourself some of the proper sealant from VW and a mastic gun and sort it. If the membrane has been butchered in the past and it's very likely it has a new one can be made from thick polythene sheeting and be carefull about where you make holes for the mirror & speaker wires etc. The part number for the sealant is, D 469 101 A3 it is like a sticky black goo that doesnt dry out & stays tacky all the time, trust me this stuff is fantastic & when most silicone sealants dry and crack this will continue to hold and keep the water out. If you need any pics let me know ;)

That fuse guide is a good thing, i'll remember that one so thanks for posting that up. Must be a nightmare picking up where someone left off too so best of luck with it ;)
-
What are the door membranes like too? always worth checking them as that is without a doubt the first port of call.
-
Yeah you can still get them, cant remember how much but £15 rings a bell, easy to do as well :)
-
As above, not sure if you can still get them mate but that'll come off and clean up a bit anyway. It's to hold the Radiator in place and is like a rubber mounting bush. Once the bolt is removed give the whole rubber bit a twist and it'll work it's way out. You may also need to squirt a bit of WD on the bit that slots into the top of the rad to get it free as they fuse in. Kip ;)

Hello everyone, could someone give me some lowering advice please? :)
KIPVW replied to tom_rob_89's topic in Drivetrain
I've got a lowering spring kit for sale in the next week or so buddy as an 8v i just bought has been lowered, no idea which type it is but i like to use standard height springs as i'm getting on a bit  so these will go soon. -
Same here, over 15 years of ownership on 5 cars and never broke one either, bit weird considering it's such a problem.
-
Wow Jim I am very flattered by that, i know you always have a good word for it but that is a bit more than I was expecting. Gotta agree though it is rather Fab
-
When you watch a pro do it you'll probably change your way of thinking though. Tis a pain of a job and really best left to the pro's.
-
They come off as recently did mine & had them nickel coated :-)
-
Jim, I think it's just the staff you can end up with. Some are excellent though as mine is and he even delivers it to work for me free. It wouldn't surprise me if that, was just something the cock on the phone said just cuz he can :-)
-
Ah right :-) Also used the brake cable method on my daily and is probably a lot better than the standard one :-) Wouldn't do it on the VR though lol

Metal arm? What's that bit? The metal but with the hole that the trumpet sits into us a spring that clips into the slam panel.
-
Get it welded up as the strength of the A pillars will be compromised if you use a filler, A bit of a job to get done but if you get a screen out and able to re-use it you are a good man. I had mine taken out to get the metal work done on my Nugget and decided to claim for a new screen in the end to save all the hassle of it going wrong and not sealing right and thought why go to all this trouble to fit the old one back in again.

Feeling your pain with all the hassle here chap, just bought a new 8v as a daily and i've never seen botches like it on the interior and door cards etc which are useless now as a consequence of bad fitting and riushing a fairly easy job in the first place. Hope you get it sorted soon ready for the next little job  as we do. -
Ah thanks for that, not much use if it won't connect my garmin then :-) Thanks for the info too, guess a few more pennies get you a lot more oomph. :-)
-
How did you fab up the alternator Chris?
-
Cheeky :-) yep both 8v lol
-
Can have mine for £15k :-)

Looking forward to the 50 car special display at Stanford Hall this year as much as our own national day. Might even get Jude to bake some Anniversary cakes :)
