Thanks, it ought to lol! Talk about a labour of love this one  I think it scares me more than the VR does as i'm so paranoid in it.
-
Fair doo's Good luck with it chap ;) It's actually possible to get a reasonable finish as I have done the very same thing to a section of external panel on the VR, Spot it if you can ;)
-
:( Good Luck
-
lol sounds like you got a friday afternoon one Jim :) I used one of these too recently when i did all the lines, flexis and clutch & even a new brake fluid reservoir so a completely dry system but only one session and it was all good again. Make sure you jack up the rear axle compensator a little to increase flow to the rears.

Here's mine from a more recent pic after the restoration.
-
Wowsers, thats dedication indeedy James :) are you having a go with the gun then too?
-
Registered & Ordered :)

Wondered why we'd not seen much of John lately :( bad news Matey, i'll long remember our banter at events and the Scotland trip :)
-
I passed several so called 4x4 's last year on a decent incline too  thay must have thought WTF...... An old VW psssing them with ease, cant wait :)
-
ha Ha Graeme, there is that mate :)
-
I'm with you on that too Jim, i left them on all year round and even on hot days this year they were pretty impressive and we seem to get more cold wet days than hot sunny ones now so thought i may as well. They feel much better in the wet too as opposed to full summer tyre's may actually look into some all seasone ones for next time though but i'd be gutted if they were crap in the snow and end up forking out for more winter ones in the end, which is probably why most actually go straight into winter's rather that all season thinking about it.

How did you rate the Cont's Kev? it's very hilly where we live and they were superb for me.
-
Jude has just gone for the Michelin Alpin's from Kwik fit as they were the best price. £346 fitted for 195 50 15's considering most sites have the tyres alone for £75 plus each i dont think thats a bad price at all. When my conti's were fitted last year they were the best price too. worth checking. :)
-
If they are anything like the conti TS 800 i have on my 8v daily they'll be superb mate, actually ran mine all year so looking forward to seeing if they have suffered as a consequence and need replacing on the front. I needed new summer tyres too on the other set of wheels so thought i'd just run the winters all year considering how wet it's been.

Yan as, Jim says it's only the revell ones that are late trim, the Norev, Schaback & Minichamps are all early :-)
-
et Relates to the distance the mounting face of the wheel is to the edge of the rim if the wheel itself.

Mechanics before asthetics :-)

£15 posted?
-
Indeed, as replacing them both will ensure much cooler temps and the last thing you need over winter is faffing about at the side of the road. a good flush out with new coolant too will help a lot.
-
Yeah dont think they had inserts into the handles like the later cars, i know my early Nugget doesn't have them and thats a factory fit leather interior too. Just plastic.
-
Ah the Aux pump! little bleeder lol! have you done the main pump too?
-
Also the front mount bracket bolts have been known to be an issue is corroded. not the one to the mount but the long one through the starter motor and other bolts on the other side of it.
-
Jude's is a copy of the original so if this is one of the original's id say it's worth £50 and i would pay that if i had a storm & wanted it.

That sounds promising then :) ---------- Post added at 12:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:35 PM ---------- Indeedy, A good store can give this advice and see how you sit where an internet shop/forum cannot. It's also becoming quite common for people demanding work to be done only by Cytech approved/accredited mechanics which I now am lol! after my boss and me thought it better to get it done for that very reason, makes no difference though as cytech dont teach how to stop creaking or to remove seized components. But in this day & age it's good to have a piece of paper to say i'm qualified  Cytech is basically a course where you have to build a wheel from scratch and strip down a bike & rebuild it. fairly standard procedure to be honest for any bike shop worker, or so you would think.

Spot on Kev, This also applies to my trade too, no amount of surfing the net looking at chaireaction cycles or wiggle will give the service we offer at our store. & this week I've had a major wheel conpany get in touch with me as another shop thats only been going a short while made a conplete hash of a customers £650 wheels just by fitting an upgrade kit that takes less than 5 mins to fit, there's even an excellent video of how to do it on the company website. Another customer gained for us I feel. :-)
