  3. Thanks Chaps it really is much appreciated, i'll be back on it soon though giving it large lol! and more pics will follow no doubt.
  4. Thanks mate, i had a bit of fishing around and discovered this too! at least it'll help a few future enquiries on here as well :) Cheers! ;)
  5. Result, as above always nice to have a minor advisory at the most! Happy Days :)
  6. Well got the right spring top plateeventually and now fitted the front dampers back on along with the newly refurbished hubs :) Looks great if i may say so myself, then started taking off the front section to get the rad support done too. will get this all flap wheeled then sent for blasting & coating to the finish of the subframe. Had fun putting the colour spots on the springs too lol! One thing that came to me this evening though is that i have had to admit defeat and tell myself Stanford hall is a no go this year :( gutted is not the word to be honest but i have so many jobs to do i have to also be realistic. I like my time with the VR to be enjoyment and it hasn't been that at all so gonna slow right down now and just take my time to get the results i want rather than just rush it all together for the show. Some more pics then :)
  7. Result there mate :) Not gonna have the VR ready for Stanford as it's taking me ages but getting there now and got the rear beam to get off so may come and bug you with a few questions :) especially the front suspension which is concerning me as i think i've done it wrong. Will be nice though to just enjoy the show for a change..
  8. Yeah i tweeked a couple of them but only slightly, i fitted all the lines to the abs unit as i didn't want brake fluid all over the nice new look subframe so the rears although just dangling from the unit haven't yet been connected but once the rear beam is done am sure they'll go straight on too :) Really not looking forward to bleeding it up though lol!
  9. Just to say that I have had a full set of these from Alex and the fit & finish of them is superb, just like from the factory. The front drivers side is a bit of a pain to fot though  as judiths swear box will confirm ;) Top marks mate and make the job so much easier.
  10. well fitted the drive shafts tonight and torqued up all the engine mountings, must remember to torque up the drive shaft bolts too so left myself a note :) Then started to rebuild the suspension but hit a stumbling block so cant finish them Grrrr! was hoping to have the front wheels on tomorrow too so i could whip the beam off but alas it doesn't look like that'll happen now. :( Few pics then, excuse the bubble wrap on the shafts but that aint coming off just yet
  11. Lol! he didn't stay long as had to get back for a cuddle, soppy git  But yeah really loving what i've dont so far and i've learnt so much too, a few things i'm not looking forward to though like bleeding up the whole system once all the pipes are on but i'lltry before taking it to a local garage i trust :)
  12. Hi All, I'm struggling to understand if the spring top seat i have is the right part or not, the part I have is number 8 on Etka 1H0 412 341 And it doesn't seem to sit right on the spring. I'm wondering if i need number (8) which is 1J0 412 341 ????? My chassis number is SK00 2321 and a 1995 car, the springs are paint code 4 pink & 1 green If anyone could help as soon as poss as i'll need to order them pronto :/ Thanks.
  13. lol! indeed James, wow i didn't know that was obsolete :( i bought it off someone on here about 2 years ago i'm afraid knowing that one day i'd be changing it.
  14. Thats a shame Hasan, drop me a line if you do ever come up and we could meet up :) Not much progress last night as I was too tired but refitted the refurbished power steering pipe. What a pain| just couldn't get the threads to line up but on my last attempt it gave in. Wish i'd fitted it before bolting it to the rack but there you go another lesson  Just also fitted some of the white plastic brake line clips this morning as that's been keeping me awake wondering if they were going to clip into them without damaging the new lines Alex made, luckily they popped straight in with little effort. Gave them a little coat of wax though for protection, as you do :)
  15. Few more :) Off to work now for a rest
  16. Some pics of todays efforts. :)
  17. Cheers for that guys, I didn't use them so i'll keep em for the nugget :) i was sure thery weren't used but just wanted to check. Well a right old day today, fitted a new brake fruid reservoir and grommets and a set of the hard brake lines from Alex AKA Volksworld13, they are truley a superb fit and every credit to you Alex but jesus the off side front one is a complete pain to get into place, mucho swearing amigos did the trick Lol! Judith stayed well clear :) but all fitted now and the rear ones also in place for when the beam comes off this week :/ Also got the freshly blinged up subframe and wishbones back on with a massive help from Chris AKA VagHag & Judith too. Thanks you two you know it's appreciated. But what a total ****ttter lining up the steering rack spline Arghhhhhh! got there in the end and packed up at 10.45 pm so a good old session was had by all, till tomorrow anyway :)
  18. Good work Fuzz, love the wooden template lol reminds me of the flintstones car Ha Ha!
  19. Well had a decent evening building up the subframe in the kitchen last night as you do  but have a couple of questions if anyone can help. Does the rear wishbone bush have one of the thin tin sleeves inside it to pack out the bolt or not? there were none fitted when i removed them but i'm wondering if the guy who fitted the wishbones 7 years ago didn't fit them. It does look like it'd be a struggle getting them in though, any help gratefully received. See pic below. Next one is about the torque settings on the front & rear wishbone bolts, the Bentley Manual states the front wishbone bolt is 50Nm and the rear one is 70Nm is this correct? reason I ask is that for the 4 cylinder cars it's 130Nm & 130Nm quite a difference so a bit concerned here. Your comments welcome :)
  20. Acid 8 as a primer then halfords caliper paint for the silver ;) Hope you had a good hol :)
  21. Just got the insurance quote through for this year and it's actually gone down £8 lol! I like that kinda quote £158 with agreed value for 4k, might up that a bit though now :)
  22. I think it;s how the new ones are made Dave as the ones on the nugget (new) are the same which is annoying. ---------- Post added at 7:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 7:09 AM ---------- It hasn't been overlooked Sir :)
