Hi Mate, I masked the front sections but not the rear of them, i'll scrape a bit off with a stanley blade once all done off the rear face as i like to get the inner/outer edges where the pads miss the disc a bit of paint too otherwise they go rusty pronto. come and see it at a show sometime :) they look smashing lol!

Well been at it a while now on and off but Stanford hall is fast approaching and i really dont think i'm gonna finish it in time :( Got off the subframe and had it coated and collected that today along with the other bits and it looks superb, I spent quite a long time with the drill and various atachments prepping it all before it was sand blasted to get a better finish :) Just hope it all goes back smoothly as got the back end to sort out aswell, hoping to make some good progress and get most of it back on this weekend but the chore of cleaning everything is slowing me down a bit. Gotta get the brake lines on too so not loooking forward to that, are they easy enough to do? i have a full set of solid lines and new flexi's so should i just cut them off and stop worrying? any tips on this job would be great. Blinged up a set of discs too ready for when all goes back on :)

Result! always nice even if you're expecting it though mate :) The Nugget passed 1st time after being unused for 18 month and the Daily did too last week, just gotta get the VR back together now Lol!

Nice job on the cup holder Jay :) Regarding using coilies on the front only, does that work ok with the standard fixed type rears? first time i've known anyone mix them like that, just curious rather than being critical. :) -
Think Vaughan was counting yours too but it's actually 5 between us lol! ---------- Post added at 10:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:51 PM ---------- They are indeed a pain but I smile a lot when i've just cleaned one :) I think they just make the car look so much better, may try some sebrings on it too in the future but will always have a set of RZ's too. ---------- Post added at 10:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:53 PM ---------- Indeed Eric :) couldn't resist though when i saw them at work.... ---------- Post added at 10:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:55 PM ---------- Yeah something different for the album too :) done the job in my VR a few times also..

No way that's gonna happen mate, it has to be standard all the way and to be honest how does anyone hit a yellow car lol! Beyond me i'm sure. :)

HAPPY DAYS! Well the Nugget went back to the bodyshop to have a few little issues sorted and i got it back last wed's so was busy upto last weekend getting it ready to use as lead car in my cycling clubs promoted road race, which was a 75 mile elite event around Stannington in Sheffield. All went well and finished putting bit's on a around 8 pm saturday :) a few more bits to do but looking much better now. a few pics anyway :) Will add more pics when i've resized the damn things :( god i hate computers sometimes.... Here is also a link from my mate Brendon's website, he's a photographer so has probably captured many more images of the car, love the low down sliding shot :) http://www.brendontyree.com/other-work/stannington

Thats just rubbish! but thats just my opinion.

Not way does holding a position in a club form the basis of what you should bee allowed to say on a public forum and she didn't even suggest lying about it either, merely suggesting they had been in three area and nothing more to deliver the item. My own opinions may be different but just because I'm chairman of a club doesn't me as no I can't have my own thoughts on any given matter. I have to be reasonably diplomatic most of the time but you have really annoyed me with your comment and I actually think it rather bloody rude too. Nothing personal mind just think it a pathetic comment.
-
It doesn't matter if she is the treasurer for the club or not, it is just Judith's opinion personally that she is commenting on and quite frankly if i'd had a parcel just dumped on the drive that was damaged and not requesting my inspection before signing for the parcel AND the condition it arrived in i'd be pretty furious too. Not saying that means i'd lie about it though but i cant see a successful result from the courier otherwise. We deal with couriers everyday at work delivering bikes mail order and always inform the customer to inspect it to make sure the box/packaging is not at all damaged as once it is signed for it is out of the couriers hands. Yet so many call a few days after to say it's damaged and there isn't much that can be done with the couriers other than our company sorting out some kind of good will gesture which in turn costs more money to sort out. Really hope you get this sorted out Rams.

Yep late will fit, you just have to trim the end off.

Looking good mate, bummer about the rad support but hey ho! dealt with accordingly

James, just blinged them up with a little wire wool and GT85. Hopefully get the subframe tidied up later today but god i ache from head to toe  ---------- Post added at 9:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 9:06 AM ---------- Cheers for the comments too chaps but Rich, perfection does not exist but I like to sail pretty close to it ;)

Well the refurb has begun and today saw the subframe come off to get blasted and a much needed coat of fresh paint. was an enjoyable task to be honest and only one bolt that goes into the rear wishbone bush was rounded off so I hacksawed the head off through the rear bush as it was being replaced with all new anyway and once the load from the bolt was released the threaded stub simply unscrewed by hand :) was happy about that i can tell you. Borrowed an engine brace from the legend that is Mr Brunyee, cheers dave! and seems all ok so far. I removed the cat too as the heat shield bracket was broken so easier to get welded up off the car i thought and the 3 bolt came out quite easy after a good overnight soak in WD40 :) Also took the bonnet off to enable more room and light to see too, plus i couldn't use the prop to hold up the bonnet with the garage door open with the car being jacked up so high. Got new driveshafts to go on but the finish in the drivers side one wasn't great so decided to rub it back and give it a better finish before it goes on. will be taking the flap wheel to the subframe tomorrow to remove some of the surface corrosion before i take it in. Got all new hard brake lines from Volksworld13 too so hope to start with them also as i'm sure they'll be stubborn to remove. And lots of general tidying up underneath before the whole lot goes back on and then it's the back end's turn. :)

Hi Mate, part number is, 00-535 807 517 cost was around £30 but not 100% sure as i haven't got the reciept yet and ordered with a losd of other stuff. No idea on the heat shield i'm afraid as my pc has packed in so no etka :(

Questions - Thing I just don't understand about VW's decisions

The plus axle was introduced to cope with the extra torque the VR6 had over the 4 cyclinder models, it was also then standard on all MK 3 GTI's etc -
Mulberry VR6 previously on P'Heads For £2k ish, now on ebay for £3.5k?!

I'll be having a VR for sale soon and i dont think that has a cat D or C but will be on here anyway once i've got all the details for similar money. It's on behalf of a widow of a ccgb member so quite a delicate one :( RIP Peter. -
Hi James, just to let you know that the rear steel bumper insert is still available from vw heritage, my parts guy at tps got one for me and delivered it today :) shiney new metal Whoop!
