Lol Excellent :-)

The stuff goes on quite thinly mate so you'll need to build it up a fair fey layers to get the same thickness as the factory so all the underside would easily take 6 or more tins. No thinners required but you need to do small-ish areas at a time as it starts to go off pretty quickly. It really is great stuff to work with :)
-
James yes i'll be using the standard issue sealant which you can just brush on or use with an airline and schulz gun. part number is D003 500 exactly the same stuff the factory use, build it up with a few layers to required height ie same as surrounding area then simply spray over if required, no primer needed. :) Chris, yeah was pretty goo around the studs mate and also had the white clips off completely on the other side too to look at those, was only the most rearward 2 posts that needed slight attention, again due to the lack of heat in that area i'm guessing. Yeah there's a few areas in the arches that need a little look at too but very minor. I'ts a slow steady progress but my motto to the lads under my wing at work is if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing right! OR Do it like you'd do your own! they love me really.

:( Head gasket gone. Sell for parts or fix ? need help please
KIPVW replied to Crispy Squirrel's topic in Engine Bay
Not to mention what a pain it is to break a car too, listing all the parts etc it'll take you months and in the mean time you'll spend the money on beer so at the end you'll have no money and no car at all. That's how i once read a how to breaking thread and it certainly made me think twice about ever doing it. -
It isn't so bad that it was a major concern mate, it just surprised me a bit, it's mainly around the rear section between the bumper and fuel tank around the turret type bracket that they use at the factory. And it's mainly on the drivers side as i'm sure the exhaust heat protects the other side somewhat better. like I say it's just superficial and glad I spotted it but it's going to slow the job down a bit but i like to do things right and beyond rather than just whack it all back together. I know i'm lucky I can take my time too. :)
-
Wow remember that meet :) what you wanna see in particular? i'll get shots for you and upload em, am currently scraping off any suspect underseal at the moment too as i have a few areas that need treating. Was a bit hacked off about this to be honest but it is only superficial and easily sorted but it is making me wonder about some of the so called mint cars out their that are rotting away as i speak, it looked fine until i cut the sealant away Gulp

Get it fixed man FFS! Cant believe people break them for the sake of a few quid. Not having a go or anything buddy just hate to see good cars get broken for no real reason. have a go yourself, you'll learn stacks doing it. -
Ah i think i saw it for sale a while back and wished it was for an early car, you tried ebay? surprised you haven't sold that already.
-
I am taking my time mate as i also have loads of other stuff to do, not to mention the Tour de France being on which is slowing progress considerably  At this rate it wont be done for tatton either :/
-
Hi Richard, just got the pics thanks! let me know how much you want for it. ;)
-
Hi Chris, it's actually Nylon coated which is far more durable to the elements and occasional knocks, not that i hope it gets any  we live near a company called Batchglow who do all sorts of stuff including handrails on public transport and hospital door handles and the like. Well worth the trip to these guys as the cost is pretty good too, this little lot was £110 total including sandblasting first which i think is very good value :)
-
Also took the caliper carriers over to Bruny's for a go with his sand blaster, gosh that is a slow job but the results look great and once they have a coat of paint they'll look great no doubt. Must say a massive thanks to Dave Brunyee for the use of his most excellent facilities at the Corrado restoration yard :)
-
Whoop! Got my bit's back from coating and the finish is superb, couple of things i'm not overly happy with but when it's all on it wont be seen :) What you think?
-
Didn't really need to get inside the bumper irons as it wasn't too bad to be honest. For getting into the sills its good to take off the rear door cards and check in there, i used dinotrol cavity wax too which sets a bit harder than waxoil. You can access the front of the sill behind the front wheel arch liner where it meets the sill at the bottom. :)

Hope to collect it all on friday if it's done. Hope so our I'll forget where it all goes lol!

Great stuff, keep you busy no doubt

Wishbone bush sleeve removal?????? Ahhhh, please help
KIPVW replied to VR6Joni's topic in Drivetrain
This on a VR Joni? didn't think the sleeves were used on VR's only 4 pot cars -
Hi Carrots, yes got the pic but it's a massive close up lol! can you send one of the whole box please, and are you selling it then? Kip :) ---------- Post added at 7:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:49 PM ---------- Is it yours? and is it early hook fittings?
-
Guess that's another option jim. A, bit of a faff but do able.
-
I actually have a new non genuine back box so if you have a pic of the suitcase that'd be great. Thanks carrots
-
Yeah it's the suitcase type with early hook fitting i was going to get but not sure to bother or not if the back box is unavailable hence why was looking at a different set up. You selling what you have then? if so are the bits genuine or aftermarket? some pics would be great if you are. send them direct to [email protected] if thats easier. Cheers. ---------- Post added at 7:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 7:33 AM ---------- I know what you mean David, just locating a good mid section seems to be a problem, gave my chassis number to euro car parts and it came with the bar fitting instead :( I looked at converting the hangers to bar type on the floor itself but would mean a little cutting of the chassis and i dont want to do that. Hmmmmm

Hi All, Well need an exhaust for the Nugget and asked my tps guy for availability and only the middle box is available to order from heritage classic parts. The back box is now obsolete. The middle box was going to cost £370.00 So i'm thinking much as i'd love to go genuine on it i cant see the point paying big bucks for a middle section if i cant get a rear/back box section at all :( So looks like a complete change of plan. Options i've looked at are either a Jetex stainless system or a supersprint, i'm curious to know how the supersprint sounds though as it has what looks like a straight through mid section where as the Jetex has 3 seperate silencers and i know that would be a quieter sound which is what i'm after. Anyone have good and bad reports on both of these? as i think fit & build quality are just as important as sound too. I know there's an exhaust thread but with so many post's it's hard to get a solid answer. Thanks in advance. ;) ---------- Post added at 10:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:26 PM ---------- ..........

Yeah i had to cave in and watch it on tv at work as i usually wait to watch the highlights program on itv4, I work in the cycle trade so watching it at work is part of the customer relations lol! Bonus :) It was obvious wiggo was going to win it today as he knew he could give it his all and enjoy a rest tomorrow, make no mistake though evans is a mean opponent and should not be taken lightly. Much as part of me is thinking it's nailed on i know anything can happen and usually does. Time trials are definitely Brad's strongpoint being Olympic pursuit gold medalist so am also looking forward to the next time trial before paris, should be epic :)
