  1. Not wi them wheels  Yeah agree with Stone on the fact that even when they look ****e they still get the odd nod of approval, opening the shop the other day (work) and a guy who saw me get out of the 8v said is that your VW? Yeah i said, that looks awsome  it actually looks naff to be honest as the thing is scratched to buggery and rust on most of it too but i kinda get what people mean.
  2. It's them wheels man  only joking mate, really I am. It wouldn't do for us to all do the same with our cars to be honest and whilst i actually love tinkering and constantly trying to make it look perfect i know perfection doesn't really exist but i like to get pretty close to it. I do however also like to drive it too and always remember taking it round the ring in 2008 and I didn't potter round either, not to mention all the camping gear and 2 other people going all that way probably added a little more wear to the interior but thats how it is :) I am fortunate that i have a Corrado daily too in the 8v and this gets not much love at all as i know it'll fall apart with rust one day so i have a collection of chalk & cheese really. I do often comment on some folk's threads but at the end of the day it's completely down to the individual but putting a different front end on a corrado and that kinda thing does wind me up i have to admit. They're my thoughts anyway :)
  3. Ah interesting as one of my hubs is slightly hard to get the wheel on and off as years ago I had an inner CV replaced and he said it was a pain to get the hub in hence slightly burring the conical section on the hub itself and after having new bearings recently pressed in this mechanic who is a vag man and works at my local skoda garage also said it was a pain to get one side in and he has all the gear at the workshop too so it must be the same for all hubs. But why only one side as you say? strange as the other almots pushed in by hand he said and only needed a slight press in.
  4. Hi mate, yeah I've looked at your thread and, I refitted the existing hub into a refurbed hub carrier & newer beating but think my spline was even all the way through. I'm sure that's how they must be now as it looks too neat to have been damaged. Hope you get it sorted soon.
  5. happy to help you try and sort it one eve mate my day off is wed's also so if you are free too let me know ;)
  6. First port of call i guess mate, has it not worked since the respray then or did you fit new speakers too?
  7. Chris, they were actually painted a strange off white colour which was almost a matt finish, I decided to replace it and knew they were coming through in zinc plated so thought it looked nice :) Jame, I know later cars came with red ones so 94 and before i'm not certain mate, be interested to dig a little deeper on that one. ;)
  8. Hi Mate, Yeah the middle one is just a locator to hold it together so dont over tighten that as you'll break off the captive nut in the Radiator support that is screws to so about 20Nm for that one, the outer 2 bumper bolts are much more important and need to be 85Nm Hope that helps, as per the bentley so if there's anything else you need to know feel free to ask as have torqued up just about every nut and bolt under it now  ---------- Post added at 10:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:16 PM ---------- VW TPS, i'll bring the invoices and try and find the numbers for you on Sunday :)
  9. Power steering broke in the meantime though! so i'm still going as if its knackered already cant see it doing more harm. Typical after all that, i changed a pipe and thats when the trouble started, i'm thinking it could be blocked as it was perfect before hand. Ah well! guess i'll need another pipe & hose as that's the first thing to try. See you Sunday, will you make the meet at Wooley Edge?
  10. Well after over 2 months in the garage lying on my back with grazed knuckles and about two thousand pounds in the swear box  it finally rolled to the MOT station this morning and passed :) It seems to have taken years rather than months but i wouldn't change a thin as i know when it's parked up at a show i can stand back and say i did that. I've learnt so much more about Corrado's than i already knew and thats worth a lot to be honest. A few pics then of the last few jobs and then i'll see you at Harewood with it :)
  11. There are more curves on those cars than Marilyn Monroe. how would doing that look any good? as said unless you do the whole car it'd look awful and then why not just but a seat leon as thats basically what those photoshop pics are of. Just dont see the point trying to modify a classic design into looking ****e and modern, thats what having a Corrado is about & not making it look like many other cars on other road today. :)

  20. Not surprised mate as i know you have a standard that would be hard to satisfy with many cars but this one, Really pleased you have it and Fair play to Gareth it is a truly exceptional car and I really hope Gareth doesn't regret it in the future, in fairness he has created a legend and it will always be Gareths old car as Jay Renshaws is always his old car. If you can live with that which i'm sure you can then why the hell not. Many Many congrats mate. so when you coming to see us in it
