OM Bloody God it looks stunning Chris! I Must come and see it one weekend so if you are happy to meet up sometime over a few pints and a bit of fodder that'd be grand. A real credit to you my Friend. :notworthy:
-
Yeah worth asking as they said it was unlimited automatically on a classic policy
-
Oh right, mine was unlimited with it being on a classic specific policy and it didn't need to have no claims bonus on it either as they just kind of oversee that and said it wasn't needed! Couldn't argue with that.

Is that with limited mileage? It will probably be with unlimited mileage which is what i have as its over 20 years old

8v Starts Then Cuts Out Instantly (Periodically / Random)
KIPVW replied to V33DUB's topic in Engine Bay
Yeah, just had the relay for the ECU Re-soldered due to dry joints in it and it seems fine now fingers crossed but your definately sounds like the key read coil connections. Let us know how it goes :) -

Sounds like the key read coil assembly to me, remove both the lower shelfs near the fuse tray and you will see a shiney black cable/wire coming from the area where the key goes on the steering column. Follow this wire to the small connector plug on the end of it, remove the plug and dunk it into a small amount of WD40 sprayed into the cap. this will give it a good soaking in the stuff, then very carefully push back on and off where the connector goes and do this a few times as this will also clean up the contacts as you do so. Then refit and see how you go! i'd leave the shelfs off for a day or so to see how it goes. Had this on my VR years ago and this cured it totally. Judes 8v is also doing it in the last day or so so i'll be doing it to that too. I'd be very surprised if this isn't the problem. Good luck. -
Lol! What a story  :salute:

He He remember this mod from the early days Chris
-
Just prise them off gently with a large bladed screwdriver, bit of a wire brush and jobs a good un ready for new discs
-
Nothing special other that socket sets etc, i would though change all the bolts and the washers that hold them on for the sake of a few quid. it can be a pain removing the ABS sensors more than anyting though! a nice theraputic job in my opinnion.

Yeah but what do insurance companys say about these adapters? id be pretty surprised if they didn't turn around to void insurance in the event of an accident. Sorry but another vote for standard fitting wheels.

Some interesting points pete, and the fact youi mention having no immediate family and your parents owning 3 houses no doubt makes you think too! i know i would but then as you say you cant beat making your own bed and lying in it  As Kev suggests too, it really is an awsome feeling making where you live your own. I have to be totally honest here and say that if i had the choice of the house or the cars i would have to take (Much as it would break my heart) the house and the feeling i get from living here, it really is satisfying to have your own place. -

Well read this again Pete and i have to say your mate is very incorrect in saying you wont be able to appreciate it to its full potential, utter bollocks in my oppinion and i'm sure many others. I know you are quite young so i guess your mate thinks me being 40 this year is old, Ha Ha! get him out on the bike with me for a ride in the peak district i'll make him feel like a 70 year old. Seriously though on our recent trip to Scotland i had a very hard time trying to keep up with 2cc and he's 60. Well i hope i'm half his ability when i'm that age. As Jude says though i guess this decission could be made by your heart but i know you have to do what is or what you think is right for you in the long run. Good luck with whichever path you take. Oh and definately a 993 instead  -

Kinda went through this years ago with my parents when i bought my VR6 in 1999, i had 9k for a deposit after selling my previous corrado 16v and saving a bit but instead of getting on the ladder i chose the VR my dad hit the roof but after another 5 years at home things started to deteriorate dramatically and we argued loads :( this kinda made me advertise it for sale but i really didn't want to and the girl i was seeing at the time although liked the car also hated the fact i spent so much money on it, after 5 years of nagging she had to go  Then i started to see judith & keeping the VR actually brought us together so i'm glad i didn't sell it and my dad is very aware of this fact too Then i started to think about renting somewhere so rented my mates place as he moved in with his partner which was perfect really as it also gave Jude and i some time to ourselves away from my folks place which was kinda what we needed and this was also ideal for us to live together a while as jude rented her house out in bristol too. I am lucky in that i live in and amazing house with an even more amazing lady and i know for sure i wouldn't be here if it wasn't for jude but i most certainly wouldn't be living with my folks either  On a plus not things with my dad are the best they have been since childhood so i'm happy abouth that also. Get the house mate you know it makes sense  -
Might be my mates who lives near by there just off hanging water road L reg?
-
Have a search on Drewies thread for some good pics  cant add a link i'm shite at that stuff :(
-
Yeah i think they had the same ones :?
-
They used to fit the generic mud flaps which were around at the time with some not too neat looking clips that clamped them inplace, you could then buy car specific logos that were fitted into the flaps themselves to make them look the part.
-
Yeah made me feel a bit sick with it rounding off a bit when i did mine! thought they'd be on forever but luckily they moved! Phew!
-
No problem, have fun lining them up correctly. The okey kokey springs to mind in out in out

Hi Mate, The nut is in a captive cage so it will not fall out unless it's rusted through  there is a fair bit of adjustment so it looks as if it'll fall away but it wont :salute:
