Cheers Kevin, I'll go and have a look for that.

My sunroof switch has developed an annoying habit of falling out at random and just hanging from the wires! Its the late type, and only seems to have 'lugs' on the drivers side. Any ideas on how to stop this short of gluing the damn thing in?
-
Mine did that a while ago, chucked the plug out of number 3 cylinder and put a nice dent in the bonnet. Worst thing was waiting an hour for the AA as I didn't have any tools with me. The very nice man screwed it back in, and wrapped some tape round the plug end of the HT lead as that had split as well.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I couldn't see it on the search.. Basically if you have any kind of mechanical qualification or if you have a shed load of receipts from motor factors (and driving a C who hasn't!) you can get a trade card, giving you a discount on parts and tools. Halfords Its discussed here on this forum:Clicky and some of the discounts for 'everyday' type stuff looks quite good. If I manage to find my C&G certificate I'll give it a go at the weekend and if anyones interested I'll post up how I get on

From Club GTi forums: We have finally just about got the workshop done now with the new rolling road being installed on the 5th of March. So we have got Saturday the 31st of March in mind for the open day. Everyone is welcome, there will be refreshments on site and power runs on the new 4WD rolling road available at £5 per car. We will be limiting the power runs to 50 cars so if you would like to have a go please can you P.M. us or e-mail directly mailto:[email protected] to book your place. We would really appreciate everybody who is coming to drop us a line even if you do not want to go on the rollers so we can get an idea of numbers. It will be a great day as we should have some great cars coming to the day and we also have a V.W. magazine in attendance. We hope to see you there, to help celebrate our re-opening. Thanks Ross, Tom, Justin and Rob. Full thread at: CLICKY

The glue wasn't that bad to get off, probably took me an hour or so. One thing I did notice though is that at some point mines been sprayed and whoever did it didn't bother taking the strips off first so I've got a couple of lighter patches on the doors. Bearly noticable but I know that they are there!

Took mine off and now have a lovely collection of dents along my doors :( I pulled mine off carefully and used Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover to get rid of the sticky stuff left behind.

bigtunes replied to bigben's topic in General Car Chat
i'm 33 and VW wise have had: Mk1 Golf Cab - X reg Mk2 GTi F reg, dropped a TSR Donnington into that and it went! Mk 2 GTi G Reg Passat 1.8 SE S Reg and my 'rado N Reg, best car I've driven and my current drive. also had: 1.4 Corsa forget the reg but it was 94 ish 1.8 Cavalier Mini 1275 GT on an old T plate - was like a high powered roller skate! 2.9 Granada - rear wheel drive which was interesting to say the least! 1.2 Clio T reg (boring) Mk 2 Astra - belonged to my stepdad originally and I killed it! and a Tigra 1.4 bit of a hairdressers car! -
Phil - Apparently VW are denying all knowledge, but thats VW for you... I have found a fix of sorts on the seat forum, so thanks for pointing me over there. Toad - Does that actually work? I thought it was an urban myth!
-
Toad - That wouldn't open the windows though? Phil - I did make a point of not asking how its done, more interested in preventing it happening again.

A work colleague of one of my mates came back to his Golf the other day to find it had been broken into, but the strange thing was all the windows were wound down, and there was no obvious damage to locks, handles etc. Another mate is convinced that this is a known problem with the Golf, to the extent that Watchdog even featured it. Problem is none of us can find any information, anywhere. So 2 questions: Does anyone remember hearing anything about it? Is there anything that can be done to prevent it happening again?

Tell me about it, stopped for petrol last night, went and paid came out and the damn thing wouldn't start A very nice man came to the conclusion that the ignition switch has gone, and definatly didn't tell me how to start it or leave me a piece of wire for doing so :D

Not the best morning.....UPDATED 07/09/06 (TWICE!!)
bigtunes replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in General Car Chat
Was thinking along the lines of them trying to get some money out of him for the supplied car, leg work done etc. As they haven't stuck to their side of the agreement claiming breach could provide a nice get out without any payment having to be made. -

I seem to remember someone using the for sale adds on the forum as proof of how much their car was worth. Not sure if it worked though. On the matter of the 3rd party claims company, surely you could claim breach of contract due to their failure to provide the promised spec of temporary vehicle and walk away? As dr mat says you are 100% not at fault, so you would be claiming against his insurance, therefore your insurers will pursue a claim against them, to the value of your agreed value. This would leave your no NCB intact and you could more than likely take the little scum bag through the small claims court to reclaim any excess you have to pay. -

Its 14 days not 28: "In circumstances in which an oral notice is not given at the time, then either a summons or a written notice of intended prosecution must be served within 14 days. In reckoning a period of 14 days, the day on which the offence was committed is ignored. A notice sent by post must be despatched so that in the normal time of postal delivery it will arrive within 14 days. If it is so posted but is held up in the post and is delivered outside the 14 day period, it will be deemed to have been served in the 14 day period; consequently the driver can still be convicted."

Can anyone suggest where the oils coming from (See pics)
bigtunes replied to mtc R32's topic in Engine Bay
Try the oil pressure sender on top of the oil filter, mine was leaking, thought "oh it will be ok" next time I looked oil all over the block, gearbox, had it up on the ramps recently and underneath is covered as well. Swapped it out and alls fine now. -
