  1. Go to device manager in windows and select the com ports device and click properties.... the baud setting is in there. :)
  2. Nice... 8) Cant wait to get these bad boys fitted :D
  3. Is that what you wrote Phil? I think everyone is drunk already! They're all having a preseason warm up before the start at the weekend
  4. Hoegaarden is Belgian! Is it, i thought it was from belguim too. But checked on net and it said brewed in germany. Serves me right for believing the first site i came to  How about Erdinger.
  5. I didnt think removing the 'snorkal' would have that much of an effect. Think i'll refit mine and see how it feels.
  6. Keep it to the wing side of the air box.
  7. Best thing to do is get it connected up to VAG-COM. It could just be one of the wheel sensors that has packed up, this would disable the ABS.
  8. would it be straight out if he said you could? Do you wear elasticated pants everyday to work hoping that one day he'll let you?
  9. You're not kidding  But for Spa-francorchamps you there could be loads to go at. But sticking to one and one that is available in your local supermarket - Duvel or Leffe. If you have a local small beer shop that specialises in these type of beers, go for the Trappist. You'll be w@nkered before you know it  :drinking:
  10. Pot and paint would probably be the best bet.
  11. (Grabs pitch fork and torch) That's sad on both accounts :(
  12. Did someone take a Freelander on the track? Freelander + silverstone = Yum! Carrera GT 8)
  13. That's a completely different problem mate
  14. BLIMEY! Fast reply Tom  Cheers mate, was hoping it was just condensation. But i didnt know Mayo could appear from a car being sat, i thought MAYO automatically = HG Failure :( Good to hear that! :D I can smile again now  EDIT - heh was too busy watching the footie whilst typing that out. So thanks to purple tom and dukest for the fast replies also. :D So more advise required then.... if the car isnt going to be used for a while, is it best to not bother starting it at all or is it best to start it every now and then? I appreciate that was purely your opinion Purple Tom, but its got me thinking :D

    MAYO!

Hi all, Need a little reassurance or advice. I took my VR off the road last Oct to allow me to get my finances in order. It wont be back on the road until next sept/oct. Now i dont like to leave it just standing there, especially as i had a reconditioned engine fitted Jan 08 which has only covered around no more then 8k, so i do like to fire it up and let it get up to temperature... ok not every time i start it but 8/10 times. When i took the car off the road the car was running spot on. However i noticed today that there was 'Mayo' under the oil cap and also just inside the oil filler hole. Coolant is level is fine and still pink and car gets up to temperature nicely when idling. I've read on the net that if its being stood for a while or car is only used for short journeys, that this is normal and 'mayo' should disappear after a good run. I did start the engine and let it get upto temperature, but the 'mayo' remained. Is what i've read correct and the 'mayo' will disappear or is this a sign the HG is going. I really cant see it being HG (and i really hope its not the case) as there are no other symptoms of HG failure, but i dont have much experience of any of this hence the need for reassurance/advice. Just dont know if 'Mayo' can form any other way. Thanks in advance. Gaz
  16. Could have sworn ive read members using black Hammerite paint, maybe not.
  17. Members on here have used Hammerite, so i guess it does the job.. But the VHT paint you can get will only work well (i assume) if its put in an oven to bake the paint.
  18. Hello mate, Not painted an engine before but i dont think you have to prime it. As long as you remove any grease and dirt as to allow the paint to apply correctly. In regards to the High Temperature paint, it will dry like normal paint. But it is recommended that the item that is being painted with the HT paint be cured by means of baking it in an oven or it may not be as good as it could be.I sprayed a Stainless Steel manifold with some heat resistant paint and it flaked off badly. I know it may be different no the engine itself. Im not sure if Hammerite resists heat?
  19. Could be, did you try giving it a coat of polish to see if they vanish?
  20. Does the locking wheel nut tool look like a socket with a reverse thread in it? I bought some of these to get the mcguard locking nuts off, didnt have much luck with them tbh. If you wish to give them a try, let me know and ill post you them to try. The best bet i'd say though is what 3CM said ^^^

    What alloys?

Its also would depend on how low you want the car too.
  22. I've done the same as you CTW so we'll both see if it pays off or not. If not i'll see you at the bottom of the league  But above Sonicriot  Sonicriot you're going down boooy!
