  1. Got a couple of chufties in the same day last friday. First one was a delivery bloke who came to the house, he commented how nice my car was. Got chatting and he said he used to own a Scirroco but always liked the Corrado. Even gave me a few contacts incase i need work done, or where i can get cheaper tyres. Second one was while i was at the bank machine. A taxi had pulled up opposite to where id left the rado. The taxi driver asked if it was mine and that he owns a Storm. Seemed to like the inpro lights on the front and asked where i got them. Told him i got them from off here, but he didnt seem to know that a Corrado forum existed, so i told him the web address and told him to get registered :D
  2. Im not sure the alarm bloke did take the door cards off, i didnt see him anyway. But the windows work fine when i use the remote to close the windows when i set the alarm. I had a look inside the doors anyway and couldnt see anything stopping the windows. The problem MUST be the little switch the gets pressed when the doors are closed, as the windows stop when that is pressed. Though now the windows dont work at all when the ignition is switched off and i didnt even mess with anything when i took the door cards off :(
  3. Oh i realised the circuit would be lit by lights, but why are they doing it? Doesnt give an explanation on the website. I agree i cant see it becoming a regular thing. Personally i think itll be rubbish.
  4. http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/ ... /7040.html Just read on the F1 website that the Singapore GP may take place at night?! Not sure how thats going to work, but if it goes ahead it will be the first GP at night (possibly for a reason).
  5. Same colour as mine and yes that definately looks Bordeaux pearl.
  6. Yes its an ABV 2.9. The VW specialist thats ordering it in for me swears by VEGE (sorry not VEGA). Its costing me around 2k just for the engine. The engines arent new, as in just built by VW, rather reconditioned to very high standards. I didnt think of asking about the power outputs i assumed they would be the same as from new. The engines are fully stripped and parts replaced and are as new so the power output should be the same. Another thing is availablitity. When the garage rang up VEGE to order myself one, he came back to me and said there were only 2 available. One had already been purchased by someone else, the other was available, which ive now got. However the sale is on an exchange basis of your old engine. So at a guess there will be 2 other units available, mine and the other engine from whom ever bought the other one. Thanks Gaz
  7. Try Vega for a new engine, thats where im getting mine from, which is coming from the Holland.
  8. If you could mate that would be great. Recently found my o/s rear caliper has a ripped piston seal - Brake fluid leaked over the driver. How much are these seal kits, and can you only buy them from VW? How do you get the piston out?
  9. Yes it has full closure and it is working. I can close windows and sunroof using key in lock. The immobiliser comes on after 20 seconds. But if i try closing windows immediately after turning the ignition off then they dont work as they should. I suspect the alarm/immob too as everything was fine before. But the fitter asked me to get some possible causes (which is quite worrying, especially when he says he has an electrical diploma). It strange because the windows work fine with ignition on or engine running. The fitter also said that it could be the drop in volts when ignition is off or that the windows 'think' they are getting stuck so they stop. But ive just had a mess around and can rule out motor completely as, if i open the door and try the windows, then press the little button near the door hindges the window stops. Something to do with those switches. Appreciate the reply Yanards.
  10. Anyone please.... i really could do with an idea about this?
  11. Well unless you how to program the alarm, id get an alarm fitter to do it for you. Give one a call they may be able to advise you.
  12. Yeah ive had that before on a previous C where the black plastic edge whistles in the wind. But can only be heard with the door open. This wind noise is when the window is closed.
  13. ANOTHER small issue. Ive used the search but only find the scenario where the windows dont work at all with the door closed. Ive just had a cat 1 alarm fitted. Since then if either pass or drivers window is down and the ignition is off they just wont go up correctly. If i hold the button the window will go up an inch or so then stop. I will then have to press the button again and itll go up another inch or so. I have to continue to do this until the window is fully up. If i do the same but with the door open it will work fine, however if i close the door while im closing the window, the window will just stop. This is the same if im closing the drivers window with the passenger door open and if i close the passenger door the drivers window will stop (confused?) and vise versa with passenger window and drivers door open. Any ideas guys. The bloke that fitted the alarm doesnt seem to have an idea as to what it could be, even though he did a good job of fitting the cat 1. PLEASE HELP! EDIT - the bloke that fitted the alarm mentioned something about the corrado having a possible 'learn' procedure with the one touch close. But ive never heard of such a thing?
  14. the 'Pulse' time just needs adusting. the alarm will send a pulse of 'X' amount of time to close everything. If this pulse isnt set long enough (seconds) then you may end up with the problem you have. A 45 sec pulse should be long enough to close sunroof, windows and doors.
  15. Hi 3corsameal No there isnt any gaps. It could even be the door, thats why im wondering if its just the rubber seals.
  16. I'd still be interested in a loom, but never got a reply to my PMs. If people are still interested would you be still making the looms. I currently have a loom that i got from ebay, but would much rather replace it with a better quality one.
  17. Excellent work if thats the case then
  18. Nope, cheaper with just me but the 30 year old point does tend to produce a nice drop in insurance costs. With elephant, and 4 years NCB too. Looked at Flux etc but they wanted far too much for the same sort of cover. The old Triumph I have is group 18, classic car unlimited miles, euro break down cover fully comp and at 25 with 2 years NCB I was only paying £120!! Ah i stand corrected then. Ive never EVER had a decent quote from elephant. I normally give insurance supermarket a try and i get a good quote from an insurer on there. But this time ive gone with Adrian Flux who have impressed me considering other quotes ive had. Only think is i had to get a cat 2 minimum fitted (getting a cat 1 fitted as i speak). But then i am only on tpft cos i cant afford the full comp due to points. :(
  19. Using the same stuff you can get for the rear clusters? Would that stick to the chrome or would some prep need doing first?
  20. Im paying a smidge over £600 with 3yrs ncb and a few points on my license  with my gf as additional driver. Yanards - your insurance should be a tad lower if you add a partner on as additional driver. (in theory anyway).
