Ok, i'll check the pipe work over the weekend and get vagcom plugged in. I'll also give the TB a clean out. The throttle cable itself seems ok, i mean its not hard to apply throttle. But i'll check it out all the same. Cheers David.

Hi all, For a while now my VR has had an annoying jerk when coming off the throttle, even a small jerk when applying - but not always noticable. It makes driving in traffic frustrating and general driving the car no fun at all. Ive changed the front engine mount and it was rather worn, but it didnt improve - though going to check it to make sure all is well. Other than the engine mount and the throttle bamper, what else can cause this? There was a thread not long ago that suggested this was a VR charactaristic but im positive this hasnt always been like this. Any ideas of things to check, its driving me mad!

Went to the local shell garage last night and its usually always quiet there regardless. But it was heaving! I genuinely needed fuel and when i got out the queue had grown and was now even longer! I didnt realise tanker drivers were on 30-45k a year!!!
-
Fuel does go off after a certain period - not sure how long, but i suspect its before 18 months. I would think you'd be fine by either, putting an additive in or put some new fuel in with it.
-
But will have to queue if everyone does the same
-
yes mate, but i think its flatter than the pic suggests. Like i say its like the one with the shoulder but without the shoulder - if that makes sense?
-
Fair comment tbh

Heard good things about the weitecs hicon gt coilovers. But maybe best looking on the suspesion discussion thread. Or speak to Karl (KADVR) regarding what weitecs he has.
-
Thats correct though mate, the nut (non shouldered nut) holding ontop of the bearing does sit inside the rubber top mount. But there should be another nut with no shoulder from your original suspension - this holds the bearing on the top plate. Then then when you lower the car onto the suspension the nut goes inside the top mount. Then the top plate goes ontop held in place with teh nylon nut KW supplied. You just need to swap the shouldered nut with the one with no shoulder.
-
Exactly ^^ but with the KWs you get a nylon locking nut to put ontop.
-
Isnt, that the nut that sit right on top for the original suspension. From memory the nut that holds the bearing onto the top plate its the same but without the shoulder. Then you get a nylon locking nut to go right on top inside the engine bay. Though not sure the shouldered nut would stop the steering from turning.

Im the same Jim coincidentally haha i genuinely need to fill up, its not panic buying - just making that clear.

Weitec all the way.

There's talks of strike action being avoided on the radio today.
-
Yeah i realised after id posted that you'd mentioned it on my thread that you were changing over.

It does indeed hold true Redfox. They handle badly, were uncomfortable and didnt settle over the bumps at all - they jsut bounced. The only thing they were good for was getting the car low, but whats the point in that if the car drives terribly. I think g-maxx, v-maxx and technics are all the same parts, just renamed.
-
Again? Going by what Wendy has said, i'll keep a ear close to the ground. Always good to keep in the loop with these sorts of things, but i wont be panic buying.
-
Lovely looking G Owen. Really like it. What tyres did you say you had on the front 195? looks alot more stretch than the rears. Are the wheels the same width?
-
Was filling up at the Shell garage end of last week. A guy approached me and asked if i was selling, i said afraid not... and that was that  no more chat just a straight question. He got into his 3 series BMW and off he went haha. Still made me smile
-
Well i did notice the very same Asda station being really busy on sunday and just put it down to just being alot of people that need to fill up. Didnt think much of it - other than im glad i dont get fuel from Asda as the queue was HUUUGE!!! You say panic buying, so something more must have been said in the media for them to react like this?
-
Yeah what ever you do, DO NOT buy cheap coilovers, you WILL regret it and when i say cheap i mean such like V-maxx etc. Awful, just awful!
-
Well for the last few weeks there's been mention of tanker drivers striking again and again talk of the army stepping in. But personally ive not heard of any date of when this supposed striker will/could happen. Today he girlfriends mum rings up saying we best go get some fuel as the local Asda station has been packed and are limiting the amount of fuel - apparently limiting to 10 litres each, but if this is the case, im sure she meant 10 gallons. As 10 litres is poop all. Ive checked the news and nothing. Ive certainly not heard anything saying there will be a date when they will be striking.... so is she mistaken? Anyone else heard anything else?
-
Good decision :D The schmidts look the bizz! 8) Though as Karl says, they'll look odd on standard ride height.. i suppose you've got to get coilovers to go with them ;) What coilies you thinking?

Welcome back Si and welcome to the new look :D It'll take a bit of getting used to but you'll get there. I do miss the forum banner though :(

Gaz's Bordeaux Pearl VR NEW WHEELS!
Critical_Mass replied to Critical_Mass's topic in Members Gallery
Cheers guys, appreciate the comments and the help. Note the centre caps have got to go on yet. Looking at the pic im not 100% sure the centre caps on the rears will fit due to the bearing end cap. But nothing a small spacer wont sort - i do have 10mm spacers to go on the back too but think it'll push the wheel out too far and car arch to tyre contact. I do have some 5 x 100 3mm spacers that are currently on the fronts if needed. THere's also a bit more arch gap compared to the 205/45 tyres, so depending on how it rides with all wheels on i maybe able to go a little lower. But not sure yet, ill see how it goes :D As for the wheels themselves, they're by no means a BBS but certainly look the part and a very good price too, im really happy with them. Im chuffed that they fit and am now able to keep them :D :D :D Im going to have to tidy those calipers up  they let the look down a little. I did paint them silver as i dont think red goes with the colour of the car, but the silver hasnt lasted long - it was only VHT paint. Maybe a sandblast and powder coat is in order. :D Watch this space, i'll put more pics up once i get chance to get all the tyres fitted to wheels and wheels on the car. Cheers!
