Gaz's Bordeaux Pearl VR NEW WHEELS!
Critical_Mass replied to Critical_Mass's topic in Members Gallery
Right got a rather odd issue. A couple of weeks ago i pulled into the petrol and the instruments were all ok. Pulled away after filling up and got to the lights i noticed none of the instruments were working - no speedo, no revs, no petrol or water temp, but car was running fine. Carried on and a few hundred meters down the road the water temp light flashed once and all the instruments came back on. Now it has been fine for a few weeks now, until this morning. I was driving and noticed the petrol and water were lower than they were a couple of mins before - they were slowly going down. The rev counter was working fine, but the speedo was going crazy, it was going up and down like a yo yo with no relation to the speed i was going. I did hear clicking coming from behind the dash. Then everything started working fine again. Are there relays behind the dash for the instruments as i did hear clicking whilst the instruments werent working. Anything else i can check. -
Nugget almost done! Well top bit anyway :)

Nice one on the MOT Kip. Your valver is stunning it looks like its just rolled off the factory, seriously. :notworthy: -
Never seen it before either but as James says, def looks like a undertray panel screw or such like.

Cheers Steve. I PM'd Mr L in the end and he was kind enough to check with Michelin themselves who said 80 was fine too. -

Can't make my mind up between 2 sets of wheels

The Dotz above dont look bad, but i share the view of Swifty. Get rid of the fake bolts and they'd not look half bad. -
Wheels and car look superb mate :D

Yeah v expensive, but as you say they make all the difference. The rubber on the inside of mine broken apart and fallen off - new ones do make a difference, at least aesthetically. Where you get them? -

Funnily enough i was caught between those 2 wheels. In the end went for the Cade Eros as you know. The Dotz are a nice wheel but the fake plastic bolts put me off. Id say the Cades' but you may see that as slightly biased  -
To me, those temps seem fine. On a hot day in traffic or spirited run ive had oil from 102 -112. Ive always thought this was normal. Usually when im not in traffic or having a spirited run - just normal driving, its still around 98

Got the from alloywheels.com Despite me putting hte car details in the site said they'd fit and didnt mention spacers. So had some messing about to get them to fit. THOugh to be fair they did send free extended bolts out and spacers. -
Whats the adaptation exactly? RW1 whats the ISV cycle %? VWVW - I've not checked the suspension, but i will. Cant see it being the problem though, sure its worth checking, but id get loads of noise too surely? Ive checked the engine mount, everything was ok. Done the check as above and it seems ok.
-
Forgot to add i checked the lambda adaptation and was getting the same readings as above - 0.922 - 1 depending on throttle degree. I also reset the ECU and took it for a drive. Doesnt seem any better to be honest. Will get the wishbone bushes checked. One was replaced last year for the MOT. No idea the condition of the others, but (and i know you shouldnt rely on MOTs) but they cant be THAT shagged if they passed MOT. Saying that, its almost a year on 11 months actually. Is there any way to check these, check for movement in the wishbone etc?

Id say about 8mm. The odd thing is the spacers are 10mm so im told. But theres a lip on either side of them which is 1 mm each so they're actually 12mm thick spacers. Very odd to advertise them as 10mm but they're infact 12mm. Still that can be sorted if necessary. So really theyre 12mm on the front and there's ample gap between the spokes of the wheel and the caliper, a good 5mm id say. So 12mm on the rear, but yeah id say about 7mm is only required to clear the cantre cap. When i tried them on the back i put 3mm spacers on and that wasnt enough to clear the centre cap, again another 4-5mm would have been sufficient. -
I pulled the plug on it too and the engine almost stalled before i put it back in. So it is working. It threw a code up due to me unplugging it also. To be honest i dont think its engine related, more suspension... but not sure what.

MAF is working as i discovered today. vag com plugged in, no faults. I can only think its drive train related. maybe wishbone bushes or top mounts. other than that im out of ideas

ASDA ey, i'll check it out. I feel the spray bottle you get with the kits just isnt enough. Especially considering you get 2 clay bars - well you do with the Meguiars kit anyway. -

Yesterday i checked front engine mount was all ok - it was, so the mysteries juddering is coming from somewhere else. Fitted new window rollers, so no more rattling window :D Today - gave it a much needed wash, now needs a good claybar, which i started until the spray ran out. So need to get another kit and do it, before i can polish and wax it. Found the rust under the rear wing - reg plate light area has got a little worse. Need to get that sorted along with the front wing, which is also now rusting. Damn rust!
