wheels feel like there turning without the steering wheel...
Critical_Mass replied to vw_john's topic in Drivetrain
Just getting the tracking done isnt enough, you need a full geometry set up which will include, camber, toe in/out, caster. More expensive at aroudn £70 but it has to be done. Forget about getting the tracking done, you need to go somewhere, that can do a full set up. WHich will include tracking (toe in/out) -

Yeah the downpipe. I suppose it could be something to just take a risk on. Is the OEM downpipe pretty free flowing? -

 ^^^ Matt i assume the package that was attempted to be delivered was the headlight switch? -
Scarey huh. Mine was squirting out the end of that pipe and was hitting the inlet manifold. Luckily enough it wasnt hot enough to ignite the fuel.

It must have been something i imagined. I'll look into getting something made up. -
Looking good mate, LOVE classic green! Where abouts you from?
-
Sorry not the blue temp sender, that is indeed the ECU sender - my bad. The original is yellow, but i believe new ones are black, my new one was black.
-
The mk1 TT wipers and arms are more expensive then the Lupo ones. You'll need 2 drivers arms and blades.
-
Ah you'll already have an idea of the Corrado's flaws then. Yeah Lups wipers can be used, the TT wipers are better still thoguh.
-
Driven it in the rain or on a dark road yet? If not you'll find out that the wipers suck and the headlights are like candles. Though this can be solved, search for "uprated wipers" and "uprated headlight wiring loom"
-
Before flushing the system consider changing the blue temp sender on the front of the engine. Had this issue on my vr. the temp wouldnt go above 70 when driving but if the car was left to idle it would go up to 110 and fans kick in. Changed the blue temp sender and it sorted the prob Obviously removing the temp sender will drain some of the coolant.

Had the upper one fail on me not long ago, luckily i was able to get the end of it cut off and refit. I did enquire through my garage about getting a replacement, apparently you cany buy just the length in the engine bay but you have to buy the whole length from the filter i guess to the engine bay. £45 IIRC. But then as above go to Halfords they sell the type of pipe you need, im told.

Vege recon VR engines ~£2k

Congrats mate, sounds like youre super pleased with it :D Looks black in those pics though  im not doubting you though. Got any plans for it?
-
well unless you ALWAYS drive on lit roads then you may get by ok with it ;) Maybe there's already a uprated loom fitted?? You can check by looking behind the lights for any extra wiring, spliced wiring, or relays.

Well this is it, the downpipe isnt on the car yet. The one thats on the car i suspect has a slight leaking as there's popping going on, so got another one cheap, but dont want to fit it before getting it tested. Im assumed the one ive bought has no cracks, but i dont want to go to the hassle of fitting it to find it has, as the job to remove and replace is a PITA. -
Right had the wheel off to take a look and everything looks fine. Caliper doesnt appear to be leaking nor does the coilover. Realised last night, stupidly, that id put £50 in the car yesterday. This may explain why that side of the car looks slightly lower, but didnt think it would make that much different to the ride height. As for the creaking, can the axle bushes creak?

Forget the cone air filter, seriously. Get a BMC CDA, it emphasises the VR noise even more. EDIT - it already has a BMC? keep that :D Some safety mods to do first - uprated headlight loom (pm KUR2Y as he at least used to make/sell them), as the standard headlights are appauling. Secondly, get some either lupo or mk1 TT wiper arms and blades, again the standard wipers are shoite. TT mk1 wipers are better then the lupo but they're also more expensive. If you do uprate the wipers you'll need 2 x drivers arms and 2 x drivers blades, regardless if its lupo or TT.

Well searching the next ive not really found anything, so maybe they dont exist. But i would have though someone would be able to test for cracks in an exhaust part. Maybe a bit of DIY may have to be the way forward. -
i'll bear that in mind cheers toohot. im hoping the fluid has come from elsewhere as it all looked dry when i looked today. Going to get wheel off tomorrow to see whats what. Fingers crossed its not leaking and its random fluid.
