i got pulled over the other week for my plates being 'almost illegible' fair do's i knoew they were illegal, but ive driven past what must be hundreds of police cars and not once has one pulled me over till recently, £30 fine if paid within 28 days (then goes up to £60) and told to change them. Dont know about you but i went for the 'i know theyre not legal, but my were missing this morning so had to use my 'show plates' until i could get some 'proper ones' didnt lose my temper or get annoyed, admitted knowing they werent legal and the copper was quite cool about it really! the annoying thing was that it was about 8am in the middle of rush hour on the A3, not one of the times at 10pm on smll city roads!

my mum keeps seeing a burgundy L plate 16v in Bailey Avenune in portchester (she only said coz she thought it was mine!!) -
the link i gave was based on my postcode so will probabaly the link will tell everyone its 32 miles away!!
-
assuming the guys number on the ad is his home address the car is in the Bouremouth area!! no problem, feel free to drop me a PM, the car is only 32 miles away from me so dont mind taking a look, always willing to help a fellow raddo owner! you must bear in mind that these cars are getting old and will need occasional attention but the good thing is most of the work is easy enough to do yourself (or rope another forum member into helping with!)

all ive read on here is that some people chargers have grenaded after having a rebuild by jabba and some have had isseus with the actual rebuilds e.g. the size and quality of the apex strips. might be worth a search for yourself for some more info. Im not trying to worry you (or rubbish all work done by jabba) but just point out the issues other people have had! i know when i was buying i wanted all the inofrmation i could get!!
-
73K, thata nice and low!! sounds like it might be worth a look. so you know, all corrados were built by Karmann and so all have a 'karmann' interior, its something sellers try to make sound special! I know a few people on here have had problems with jabba rebuilds so might be worth a trip to g-werks to get it checked over. clicky - this the one? im sure if you ask nicely someone will either have a look for you or meet up with you to take a look
-
only problem ive had is collant related, to be expected on a older car really! for that sort of money id be wanting a real low mileage minter! The charger may of been done in 2005, but how many miles has it done?? have you got a link at all?

the G60 is a great little motor as you said its pretty rapid! i cant make comment on the 16v though. As has been said its all personnaly choice, some people dont like listening to a charger all day but others cant be without it! Best thing you could do is drive both and decide which is best for you. also have a look in the 'for sale' section here and the buying guide. Im willing to let you have a drive of my G if your within a reasonable distance!
-
the charger itself is about £1K AFAIK, there is a possibility of parts ending up in engine if it grenades, much better to just get it services once youve bought it unless its been done recently, If at all unsure about the last time the charger was done get it booked in with Darren (g-man) to get it done. Wherabouts are you based as no doubt some of the guys near you will be willing to let you have a look at their motors and have a drive so you can form your own opinion over what you want! Persannly ive only ever been in the G60 but the noise was enough to make me fall in love and get my own! £2,500 should get you a very tidy G60 at current prices.

ok just been round to the garage, the guy said that with all coolant leaks they run a block test (makes sense) apparantly it was run for ages before anything showed up, he said it was nothing to worry about! had me a bit worried for no reason!!! Rocker Cover - is it just case of undo the bolts lift off change gasket and replace as per removal? i have tried to take my spark plugs out once, but they seem very tight, dont really want to force them!
-
ok guys, had the car in the local garage recently to sort out my coolant leaks, they put a section on the invoice for 'advice' it says that my rocker cover gasket is starting to weep and the head gasket is starting to fail. Im no expert but i know that the head gasket going is a biggy! if its starting to fail does it make more sense to change it before it lets go fully? id love to do the job myself to avoid a big garage bill (but i would need some help as im no mecanic but very willing to learn), is this a weekend job or a couple of weeks work? i would assume the rocker cover gasket is a bit of an easier job, what is involved and is it a suitable job for a novice??? by the way its a 1992 G60! Cheers in advance Andy

you might of caught sight of mine a couple of times which is a maxnex, nice subtle oval, and from the G60 gives a nice sound!

I would say that it might have been me, but I had been drinking heavily Friday night and so went everywhere on foot on Saturday as still felt that I was under the influence of alcohol! So unless someone took my motor for a joy ride it wasn't me! Plus you'd probably have recognised it as mine if it had been. thought it could of been you, but the registration was different (cant remeber what it was, but wasnt yours!) -
not quite the same but ive found that in my G60 that the harder i press the pedal initally the firmer it is, e.g emergency stop it has a very firm pedal but gently braking the pedal travels quite far. Havent noticed any difference is relation to speed, but i havent really been paying much attention to it, may have to out at some point and find out!
