Since by chance I'm actually in fashion by rolling around in a Candy White 'Rado, I thought I'd put up a photo errr, or 3. I've lowered the car by 30 mm, and had the speedies refurbed - diamond cut and laquered - shiny. After a decent amount of time spent (and money spent) at the Phirm on engine mounts, braided brake lines etc, here's the end result - in carpark light and night. What do you all reckon about the wheels? I'm really pleased with the result! Oh, and close up:

LMAO - v. v. funny! That wicked white 'rado owners sense of humour :) I personally love the idea of having one for a warm weekend to make the guys in their beemers jealous. I hate the lights at the back though.

I've just had shedloads of work done at the Phirm including vibratechnics engine mounts, braided brakelines, gmax suspension, poly bushes, and speedline alloys diamond cut and lacquered, sump gasket and water pump. The guys at the Phirm were superb - Paul worked his socks off for me and everyone there - staff and other punters are all top people. I recommend it to everyone. I'll hoy some photos up soon showing the car's new stance.

I've just got this bra for my car (I'm not aware of any white ones on other cars in the UK) Oh pump - the photos have gone of my bra.

OK, I've done the lacquer, but the photos haven't come out very well - it's like the wheel is so glossy the autofocus won't work! Here's the first one - the gloss has smoothed out the imperfections in the finish. Close up it's very nice, but this doesn't really do them justice!

The zinc primer was £5.99, the silver paint was £9.99 and the clear coat was £10.99. That will probably do all 4 wheels.

Multispokes must have been a nightmare - you're a braver man than me!

I prepared my wheels with some 240 grade wet and dry to get shot of all the flaked surface, then 800 and 1200 so I had a nice smooth finish. I used lots of fairy liquid to make sure the surfaces were dry and tack cloth from halfrauds for getting rid of any other surface dust. I used Halfords Zinc primer (which keeps rust at bay) - two coats, smoothing down with 1200 wet and dry and tack cloth between paintings. Once dry I used Wurth German Alloy Silver Wheel Lacquer - 400ml "Wurth Alloy Silver Wheel Lacquer is a fast-drying lacquer that matches the standard alloy wheel paint used by Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, VW, Audi and most other European manufacturers". The German design nozzle produces a fine, even spray that is easy to control and produces a near-factory finish. Wurth Alloy Silver Wheel Lacquer dries quickly and is chip resistant. I'll finish it off by smoothing it down again, then spraying with Wurth High Gloss Clear Alloy Wheel Lacquer - 400ml. "All wheels repainted or repaired with the Wurth Silver Wheel Lacquer should have 2 to 3 topcoats of Wurth High Gloss Clear Lacquer to seal the silver metallic paint and add depth and gloss." The surface to be painted must be dry, clean and free from grease or oil prior to applying the clear coat. So again I'll be getting out the fairy liquid. I'll spray 2 to 3 light coats about 30 minutes apart. Hope that helps, and good luck!

That's just the Wurth Silver alloy wheel paint. I'll be putting the clear laquer on at the weekend.

Hi Everyone. Well my Speedlines were looking bonk, so I did some research and decided to refurb my wheels myself - I figure if it doesnt work out, I can always get it fixed by the pros. I got a bit of overspray on the tyres, but they were in need of replacing... I'm pretty chuffed so far. I'll add the lacquer this weekend. What do you all think?

Hi everyone. I have absolutely no plans to sell my car as I think it is superb, but I wondered what people's opinion is of air con. Mine has it, which I think is pretty rare,and it's absolutely superb in the summer. But I have no idea if it adds any value to that of a standard VR6 with cloth interior. I know people on here talk about the value of recaros and leather, but nothing on air con. I was once quote between 1200 and 1800 to retro fit air con to another car, but I doubt it adds anything like that to my Corrado. Any thoughts?

I saw a stunning looking debadged 'rado - reg beginning L164 in Brentford near Isleworth today. It looked superb. I probably stared a bit too much!

Jeez - that Wigan one is not to my taste, but there's a good chance my missus will love it. At least that blue car looks reasonable. Don't get me wrong - I love the standard 'rado - mine is completely un modified, and will stay that way. The missus on the other hand likes the wide body look. Good job really cos I'm a bit of a fat barsteward. :)

Cheers for the tip - I had been using that new Flash window cleaner, which to be fair is a waste of money. I think I'm going to struggle to find any spare alcohol over Christmas though!

Hi - this is a stupid question I'm sure, but does anyone have tips on how to make sure your tax disc holder doesnt keep falling off? I have one of these fancy ones with an allen key to remove the back, which is supposed to be stuck to the glass with sticky pads. Ive cleaned the glass and also tried replacement pads from halfords, but it still falls off. What am I doing wrong?

I'm also after a decent resprayer in Surrey, so when you get recommended one, I'd like to know how you get on!

Nah - it was 873 quid with the labour - the ultrasonic injector cleaning was 32 quid an injector, and there's 6 on the VR6 so that pushed the price up. Plus all the VAG.com shenanigans etc. A lot of money, but to be fair it is running really well now, touch wood.

My car's done 116k and has service history for the past 8 years. The air mass meter was £180 notes. The cheaper one on the newer cars is around £80, but even though mine is the newer model with the new dash, it had the old meter there. They originally had got one of those in but it didn't fit - I watched them try and fit it so I know it wasn't a con!

Look - it's back on the drive with 465 quids worth of parts - new air meter, cleaned injectors, new temperature sender and new oil filter. I'm glad to have it back!
