  1. Some things are best kept to yourself.................... I've an awfull filthy mind
  2. Happened to me just after I picked the Corrado up, it was my fault for stopping outside a pub around midnight asking for directions I suppose
  3. Personally I'd keep them, as you say yourself it breaks up the colour a bit, but I think its a personal preference thing, so go with what you feel yourself.
  4. Ah now Andi, you wouldn't go and do that now would you? Then I'd have nothing to do in work and I wouldn't be a very happy man at all at all. They'd realise how little I actually do in work because I wouldn't be typing away, I'd loose my job, have to sell my cars! oh and my wife and children would be homeless :(
  5. Hmmmm, problem with that reasoning is that instead of just the bonnet recieving the power from a live wire touching it the whole car would instead. One thought I had about it before was that it was to shield the ecu from a potential static build up, which would not be good, I'd replace it on mine only I never really think of it.
  6. A replacement could be swiped of another VW in a scrapyard, just be a mater of finding a similar one. As for you being fine without, not sure, but mine snapped on my G40 a year or so ago & I forgot till I read this thread and all is still fine. My guess is that its there to prevent static build up in the bonnet by letting it disapate to earth, no electrical system uses it.
  7. Yep there are a fair few Corrado's about here now, there are 3 in the car park outside work! (two G60's & a 16v). There is a healthy enough VW scene in general over here, will you be here for long? The summer shows are good craic, track days are better though! I'm in Dundalk as it says on the left. Richard, a Corrado meet sounds like a good idea, I'll have to get my ar5e into gear and get down to you sometime  As for storms, the only ones here would be private imports from the UK as it was a UK special model.
  8. 3M Automotive acrylic plus tape is the best by far (I work in a coachbuilders so we have researched this)
  9. Limited's were all LHD so had space for the alternator above the engine towards the back, Richards car will not have space due to being RHD the servo would be in the way, hence he is using an alternator on front under the charger which would foul the Rallye intercooler as far as I know.
  10. Corrado's must be different to other VW's so, cause all my Polo's have the same switch even though some are ex-UK dim-dip and others are Irish spec non dim-dip models :?

    Vibrator.

Its the pre-cat co inspection pipe cap, It basically plugs a hole in the exhaust that can be used to check the exhaust co content prior to the cat. If its loose just tignten it, I wouldn't worry about what caused to to get loose.
  12. There is no difference in a dim dip system headlight switch and a non dim dip system switch, the difference is in the rest of the wiring.
  13. So it will fit in easily enough then? Nice one.
  14. We live in politically correct times, thats parent and child, well it suits me that way  I wouldn't agree with the notion that people in more expensive cars are the safer option, I think they would just look at our cars as being old and not worth worrying about damaging. I remember on my honeymoon I made my wife get out of the car so I could squeeze it tight in a "space" between one of the multi story car park pillars and the wall, don't think it was a space at all, it was about two inches wider then the G40 :-P
  15. Here here, I agree with that, and thats what I did myself
  16. I used to be extremely protective of the Polo, I'm not so bad with the Corrado, its my daily driver so its to be expected, that said I still am carefull where I park, funny to read other people have the same stratagys  I remember once someone in a 5 series BMW opened their door onto the side of my wifes car with me in it, I confronted him and he just threw his eyes up and walked off, funny enough I found taking the pram out of the boot quite difficult that day.
  17. Dimensions on the W211 intercooler are as follows: Width 58.5cm, Depth 5cm, Height 11.4cm. They exclude the end caps which are hidden behind the bumper.
  18. Its not the sprinter one, its a W211 E class intercooler, part no is 211 specific too, so its not a common part with previous models. I'll keep looking though.
  19. How about this sort of one Richard? I can get dimensions from one of the cars on the floor.
  20. Ah now Richard, to be slower than a 1.0 Micra things would have to be pretty bad, they step out at 40mph on roundabouts, the G40 handles well in comparison to the wifes Micra :-P
  21. LOL, nah I have not rubbed through to the metal, but I want to finish polishing the rocker cover first :-P I have not really had time to take more pictures, its been dark most days when I get home from work and wee Amy takes precidence over the cars  Thanks for the info, I will have a good look later and see what I can find :)
  22. Thanks, I'll drop him a pm and see what the story is 8)

    Wet Carpet

Most likely leaves blocking the drains. lift the bonnet and clear away on the passenger side, the water could either be getting in at the seat as Mark said or building up and flowing in via the fan housing. Clearing the leaves and checking the seal would be the first port of call, after that it'd be the plastic membrane on the inside of the door panel, although that would usually show up as a leak to the rear footwell.
  24. Probably in the wrong section, so mods feel free to move. My G60 has a JMR sticker on it from a rebuild in the past, just wondering if there is anyway to identify what stage( if thye do stages) the rebuild was done to like the serial number Jabba put on theirs? Do JMR have a good reputation for charger rebuilds? :?
  25. Leave the handbrake off to prevent it seizing, Silica gel is a good idea, but it needs to be "recharged" every once in a while as it can only absorb so much moisture. To "recharge" it put it in the oven on a moderate heat for a while, make sure if its in paper bags that it does not go on fire!! It'll change colour and let off steam, I know it sounds nuts, but my sister is a scientist and showed me how to do this
