I made a bit of progress today by checking the timing and setting it right  It would appear it was adjusted before for unleaded and not changed back when the K star was fitted, solved all my starting and idling problems too. Now doing 34 mpg on a two mile run where I used to be lucky to get half that.

You mean Galileo, The ESA / EU's positioning system?

Hi, The number is 028 3026 6622. The address is 76 Canal Street, Newry, Co. Down BT35 6DX Just around the corner from where P&R cars are. If you down along the canal in front of the buttercrane heading north take the left just after P&R, up the hill through the lights and you will see them on the left.

Its been a while since I posted anything, so I thought an update was in order. Besides routine maintenance not much has happened as I've been busy doing all the overtime I can to save up some money for spending on the C and when I've not been busy in work I've been out stripping the spares Corrado Here's how its looking tonight: I'm just waiting on my new suspension setup now, then its NCT time followed by a few other bits and pieces to keep me busy before next years shows ;)

I'm slowly working away to removing as many Corrado's from UK roads as I can whilst increasing the number on Irish roads

Bad News for Car tuning / modding scene !!!
gsbellew replied to Tempest2's topic in General Car Chat
I don't know, I can't help but think that this would be a good thing. There needs to be some form of regulation in relation to what people can or can not do their cars, manufacturers are forced to spend millions designing safe cars yet as things stand you can buy a car and then undo all of this perfectly legally. Should the same standards not have to apply to aftermarket parts as to OE parts? When you think about it we already have some of this legislation in place, take lights for example, under EU law any light for road use has to carry the "e" mark along with its approval number to show that it has been tested and approved, whats wrong with applying the same standards to brakes, bumpers, body panels, suspension and so on? -
Is your Corrado your "best" car, or your runabout?
gsbellew replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
We've more cars at home than I know what to do with  My 91 16v Corrado is my daily hack and does the creche run in the morning and the weekly shopping trips etc, My G40 is enjoying semi-retirement coming out for shows and track days, My 8v GTI engined mk1 Caddy is used for the recycling run, The wife's Ibiza is used for the days when I'm feeling lazy and dont want to drive, the rest of my cars have no real purpose in life (1 & 1/2 Corrado's and 2 Polo coupe's) -
Sounds just like mine (well one of mine) have yet to figure it out myself yet though  I get 8 - 16 on short trips, 24 seems to be my maximum now, all ties in with the actual calculated figures too

gsbellew replied to dub envy's topic in General Car Chat
RZ?? Don't see that  Look like RM or Golf VR6 BBS caps to me VR6: RM: -
The best glue for the job would be Bostik 1GA-186 its a heat resitant contact adhesive designed for applications such as this, we use it to stick leather to doorcards and alcantara to our Limousine headliners.

Saw something I never thought I'd see today...ZERO miles G60
gsbellew replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
Interesting, would be very curious to see pictures of these. Wonder how the new car smell has survived :? It is caused by the solvents in glues used in manufacture and should fade in time, although I suppose when left unused no other smells are introduced to mask up the new car smell :? :? -
Saw something I never thought I'd see today...ZERO miles G60
gsbellew replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
Highely unlikely to be true zero mileage vehicles, all cars have a few miles on them by the time they leave the factory, so without being clocked....... -
They look ok, I would personally prefer if they didnt have the badge, but thats me being picky. Speaking of which, howcome you have an early light switch? :?:

Thats a sigma SG2 series key fob, that system was only superseeded in the past few years by the SG3 so they are not that old really. I think your keyfob needs to be re-sequenced with the alarm, this is done using the small keypad which should be installed somewhere in your car. I can try and find out off my Alarm installer and see if he will tell me the sequence for programming them, I'll check the instructions from my old car (now my sisters) when I am out there later and see if they tell anything as I had the same series of alarm fitted to it.

Sorry, I was reading from your previous post a few posts up  What you are talking about now sounds fine. :)

The only step I am not sure on is the middle one again, do you mean gold class wax? Anyway, first two stages are by machine, the final waxing is best done by hand, get a microfibre cloth (Tesco sell them, so do aldi) for removing the wax, it makes all the difference and will not scratch the paint like a cheap cloth will.
-
Your wax would be spot on as the last step though, you want wax to seal the paint and not just polish. Good luck with it, and get pics up, before and after :)
-
I would use T cut as an in between step quicker than autoglym, as harsh as autoglym is I think it would take more work to take up the G3'd paint with it than with something designed with mild scratch removal in mind. If you have it there fire away, it will work, but if you are buying it specifically you would be better off getting the right one for the job, so: T Cut, Finesse, Perfect it compound or diamond cut. You want an anti swirl polish or fine cutting compound.

Lovely car that one, well it was back when it was featured in VWM not sure what its like now. know your Polo from the pitstop forum by the way.

Few nasty surprises when stripping my C's interior
gsbellew replied to gsbellew's topic in General Car Chat
Something strange going on! Date of Liability means when the car TAX is due, So the car hasn't been TAX'd since 1995....... The saga continues! Interesting, wasnt sure what Liability meant, cheers :) New pic: nice two tone paint job. -

Is this the rarest Rado in existence today ?
gsbellew replied to 2corrados's topic in General Car Chat
Did I not contradict that way back on page 2? :-P  Its the one that was done without a bodykit, standard looking but a 16v G60, one had front wheel drive one was 4wd, cant remember which was which, but I think the body kitted one was 4wd, could be the other way round. Knew I had read something about a standard looking one years ago, cant remember for the life of me where I read it, hell I might have imagined it
