I would recommend Bostik 1GA 186 contact adhesive, its a heat resistant contact adhesive, we use it to stick headlinings in limo's.

The red pipe is for the wire that pulls / pushes the window to travel down, your car has a retrofit kit by electric life installed not a factory setup, which explains the dodgy looking wiring too. Its possible that the window is not running true in the window channels, you can adjust it by loosening the 10mm bolt that holds the glass to the regulator, play around with settings till it runs freely.

Anyone bought a red 16V off ebay yesterday...?
gsbellew replied to scarlett's topic in General Car Chat
Think the seller ended the item early, thats if I found the right one. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1992-VOLKSWAGEN-CORRADO-16V-RED_W0QQitemZ110216292256QQihZ001QQcategoryZ9873QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem -
From birth we used a child seat from our graco travel system, later we used a Brevi seat, both fit the Corrado's rear seat perfectly.

Its perfectly possible to get a factory / better than factory finish from a respray. Factory paint on any car is crap. A good painter doing a respray shouldnt really have to flat and polish to get a good finish to be honest, they should be able to get a good finish out of the gun.

Well in my case its like this out front: Garage out back with one or two cars in it too, normally a few on the street and if I ever have any overflow they live out at my parents place. My back garden has been known to house one or two cars too  Needless to say my neighbours love me.......

The problem with more than one car is that you never know which one to give the money and attention to, in my experience you end up splitting the money across all of them, which can get expensive :( I got a little carried away, I currently have 5, two Corrados, two Polos and a mk1 Caddy and the funny thing is I end up driving the wifes Ibiza more than any of them  If you like the Golf, keep it, you will only regret it if you sell it.

Bostik 1GA-186 is the best stuff in my experience, we use it for the headlining in our Limo's and it even stands up to the heat the ones that go to Saudi Arabia are subjected to.

Lovely cars the Limiteds 8) I've seen 4 out of the 71 at this stage  one of them was the RHD one that was on ebay as mentioned above. 2 of them are over here in Ireland. You tempted to buy one Jim? http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8893&st=0  Sorry, I know it should be in the ebay section, but seems appropriate given the topic.

I've changed to a Nugget one now, but cant reset my vote, I'm still down as Blue from my very first one :(

Correct Dan, you look like a complete Charlie when its flapping around in the wind.. Its not designed for that though, its for masking during polishing, blackening trim etc... I presume its low tack masking tape, its also used when painting a two tone car. Not sure it would be the ideal solution to stone chips to be honest, that said I've never been able to see the point of covering the car with bra's etc anyway, no point having nice paint and hiding it away :?

I've a nugget yellow C in my drive now too 8) Just picked it up today, and I love it :) It needs work, but has the potential to be a pretty nice Corrado when its finished. No pictures yet as it was dark by the time I got the chance :(

Electric windows were a little known dealer fit option, mine has them along with remote central locking, PAS was never available, and I doubt it would be possible to fit it, doesnt really need it though.

They were £11,568 at their launch, the UK production run was only ever to be of around 500, but they had problems even selling them, there are a few that were found in the late 90's unregsitered. Sure never mind them only selling 500ish in the UK, they only managed to sell 2 in Ireland, the funny thing is they were not even uk spec ones, they actually bothered with a different spec for here, and only managed to sell 2

Great cars, for sheer fun I would pick my G40 over any of the Corrado's I have owned, untill I have to press the brake pedel   The brakes are basically Mk1 GTI (239 vented discs up front, drums at the back, standard Polo's had 239mm solid discs), they can be vastly improved by uprgading to a mk2 16v (22mm) master cylinder and braided lines, you can also fit any front brake upgrade designed for the mk1 GTI. Its rumoured that there are less than 300 RHD ones left now, so they are getting rare enough. I'm tempted to buy a second one before they get more rare.

Spirit wipe / de-greasing panel wipe as used prior to painting in a body shop. That should disolve it without affecting the paint and allow you to wipe it off, or you could always just use a drop of petrol on a cloth, that should do it too.

just co-incidence they both were Tornado red and grey leather  quite a rare combo as normally if Tornado Red has leather its of the black variety............certainly looks a lot better than the other one too, must be strange for you not having a silver one    I had to check the reg's twice myself, thought it was an odd combo alright, I wasnt 100% on the grey leather before I got it, but I am hapy with it now :) Hmmmm, yeah, I went through a phase on the silver ones, I have three tornado red cars on the drive now  Not all Corrados though

Its not that one, I was tempted by that one alright, but this one wasnt faded anywhere near as badly, and I got it for similar money 8)

Ever since I sold my 91 16v I've been hankering after another one, I finally took the plunge again, and here it is, my 5th Corrado, its a 1990 1.8 16v with 121k on the clock. It needs a lot of TLC, but there is a good car under there somewhere. The paint was pretty faded when I got it, but a going over with a buffer has brought it up pretty well and it looks pretty respectible now, it will do for the minute anyway. Its the most econmical one I have had yet, giving me a steady 30Mpg even when pushed on. Few bits missing from the interior, but I should have most of them in the attic in my spares stash. As it was when picked up: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n311 ... P60728.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n311 ... P60729.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n311 ... P60800.jpg After the buffing: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n311 ... P60866.jpg It could do with a bit of paintwork which I will probably do over the next few months when I get a bit of time, I am undecided on the wheels at the moment too :?

Are you sure its the subframe they are failing you on and not on the radiator support panel? Thats the only part that I can think of up front that is normally rusted to the extreme that sandblasting would cause it to disintegrate, sure if a subframe was rusted to that point would the engine have not made a break for freedom by now?
-
If it was economically feasible i would have the sunroof taken out and the hole welded up and the roof resprayed, but obviously that will cost muchos dollaros So why not just sod it and leave the sunroof closed?
-
If you mean the VW badge on the back panel its the same as the one from a mk3 polo and is still available.
-
I am guessing he means white with a black roof and with keskin kt3 wheels. Do you have any pictures to work from?
-
All the Corrado's that I have had have had the same problem to different extents, my aqua blue G60 was the worst, it was rusted through outside the filler flap at the bottom, on the others the rust was contained within the filler flap recess. The only real solution is to cut the metal out and weld in a replacement section.

Better one there now
